Chapter 1102 - 1103: On the edge
Chapter 1102 - 1103: On the edge
After returning to the Eastern Continent, it took Idan a while to get back to the city where the Dungeon Gate appeared.Making his way through the parts of the city that had not yet been captured by the Six Fire Factions, Idan did not notice how he crossed the border of the territory of the Golden Fire Faction.
"Stop!" came a loud shout, and Idan stopped when he saw a young man in a red robe decorated with golden patterns standing in front of him. Like most representatives of the World of Fire, he had red hair and red eyes.
Stopping Idan, the young man examined him carefully and said:
"Where is your mark? Show it."
"The mark?" asked Idan.
When he came out of the Dungeon Gate during the day, no one asked him to show his mark.
"Is this your first time here?" A smile appeared on the young man's face. "It is forbidden to enter the territory of the six Fire Factions without a mark."
"Since this is your first visit, you will have to pay with resources to gain access to the faction territories."
"Access for 1 day costs one high-quality rank 1 resource or one low-quality rank 2 resource."
After some thought, Idan turned to the guy:
"Hmm... and where do I get this mark?"
"Follow me," the guy said with a smile, beckoning Idan to follow him. He led him to a small but restored building located near the border of the current territory of the Golden Fire Faction. All this time, a smile did not fade on the guy's face.
"Big sister, I've brought a man without a tag," the guy announced loudly as soon as he entered the building. "He crossed the external border without knowing the local rules. If a report is going to be compiled, please note that I discovered it first."
Inside it, a young woman with red hair, dressed in the clothes of the Golden Fire Faction, looked up.
"And who do we have here?" her red eyes, fixed on Idan, began to wander appreciatively over his figure.
"Golden rank, huh?" she muttered. Then her brows furrowed and she asked Idan:
"The Awakened One?"
"Yes," Idan nodded.
"Yes," Idan nodded and immediately felt the atmosphere inside the building change.
Platinum-grade fluctuations were coming from both representatives of the Golden Fire Faction, and their combined might was beginning to put a little pressure on him. For Idan, it was like a breeze blowing, but in order not to arouse suspicion, he decided to play along.
His body trembled slightly, and he clenched his teeth, pretending that he could hardly withstand their might.
"So who are you? Sworn, Unsubdued, or Neutral?" the woman asked, staring intently at Idan with her piercing red eyes.
Idan's thoughts quickly began to spin, and he remembered that in the Eastern Continent, the Awakened are currently divided into three groups.
Before the gates to the World of Fire were opened, there was an Alliance of Awakened People on this continent, like the Central One, which united most of the Awakened People of the Eastern Continent.
At first, the Alliance cooperated with the evacuation of residents to the Central Continent, but then, feeling threatened by its power and influence, it began to resist.
And the appearance of powerful Creatures of Fire, combined with the violent influence of the Great Core, which changed the entire continent, led to the split of the Awakened Alliance into two sides.
The Awakened ones were divided into those who decided to submit to the power of the Fire Factions, and those who decided to actively oppose them.
"They're probably Sworn in and Unsubdued," Idan suggested.
Over time, there were those who preferred to live in the surviving coastal towns. Where the influence of the Great Core met resistance from the World Ocean and could not completely capture the entire continent.
As a result, a buffer zone was formed at the junction of the two elements — fire and water, where some residents and Neutrals still live.
"I'm Neutral."
Idan didn't have to choose.
He couldn't give himself away as a Sworn.
The Dungeon Gates attracted everyone.
All the Awakened Ones from the Six Fire Factions who had sworn allegiance to them must have gathered here. Therefore, he could be quickly exposed.
As for the Unsubdued, they were the enemies of the Fire Factions.
"Prove it," the woman said, increasing the pressure, and this time she even used her Soul Force.
Idan staggered slightly, but did not fall.
"Oh," the woman exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise. Her goal was to make this Awakened One realize the difference in their powers, to cause fear and make him kneel down to show him his place.
Idan's gaze became serious. If the woman continues to put pressure on him, then he will have to fight back.
When the pressure was on Idan's shoulders, he could have pretended that he couldn't handle it. He could let his body tremble slightly or even feign fear. All this was just another mask.
However, kneeling is different.
Deep inside, where his will met the path laid out by his System, the "Supreme Husband System," a cold and unyielding feeling arose.
Must not.
Not because it was dangerous. Not because he could be exposed. But because after such a step, he himself would cease to correspond to the title he aspired to.
The Supreme could bow his head to the parents who gave him life. In front of a being he recognized as his Master. He could get down on one knee in front of the woman who would bear his heir if he himself recognized her worthy of this place.
But in front of an initially weak being covered by temporary power?
Never.
Either sensing danger, or realizing that she had gone too far, the woman did not insist and eased the pressure, thereby avoiding potential danger.
"Okay," she said, smiling under Idan's cold gaze, not realizing that a little more and she would have had a hard time.
"Pay double the amount and I'll close my eyes," she added.
Behind Idan, the guy's face lit up, and he even gave the woman a thumbs up.
Without further ado, Idan took out two gold-grade fire crystals from the magic bag he used for disguise and placed them on the table.
The guy's eyes shone with delight from behind, but the woman remained calm.
"Two pretty decent Rank 3 fire crystals, huh?" she said, examining them and putting them aside. "Hold out your hand."
Taking a special round seal from the table, she poured mana into it and placed a mark on the back of Idan's outstretched palm.
Putting a red round mark with the number "seven", she said:
"Seven days."
"Now get out, there will be no change," the woman said, gesturing for Idan to leave the building.
Idan looked at her in silence, then turned and left.
As soon as he left, the woman looked at the remaining guy and said:
"Go and report upstairs that a suspicious person has appeared who needs to be monitored."
"But he's only a Gold Rank. Is it really necessary to include him in the list of suspicious persons?" the guy asked.
"He's an unusual Golden-ranked Awakened," was how the woman could explain her suspicion. Just the fact that he had withstood her pressure made him special.
"Okay, I'll let you know. Don't forget to mention me in your memo, little sister," the guy said, leaving the building and leaving the woman alone.
After walking a little further away, Idan stopped and waited until he heard a girl's voice.:
"You've been listed as a suspect, so be on your guard."
"Well, that's to be expected," sighed Idan. "Well, thanks, Prina."
"Hehe hehe, it's a piece of cake," she replied.
Idan hadn't been alone all this time.
Next to him was Prina, hidden from prying eyes under the veil of the element of darkness.
