Chapter 212 Hunter Kraven

Chapter 212 Hunter Kraven

Gwen carefully observed the police surrounding Imperial State University, cautiously leaping from blind spots.

She watched Connors walk on the road with a hint of envy, the surrounding police ignoring him as if he didn't exist at all.

From the university gate all the way to the building where Dr. Lizard's lab was located, Gwen quietly emerged from the shadows and landed beside Connors:

"Was that 'Tom and Jerry' scene you showed me last night really something you experienced before?"

Putting everything else aside, just the fact that his body appeared out of thin air and that all the police ignored Connors's presence made Gwen instinctively believe that Connors possessed all sorts of incredible abilities.

"What do you mean by cat and mouse?!" Connors sighed.

Just like the news reports, the laboratory was a complete mess, with broken bottles and jars scattered all over the floor and tables bearing the marks of claws.

In the middle of the laboratory, there was a dark hole in the ground, with electrical circuits, steel bars, and water pipes scattered everywhere.

Gwen was about to jump into the hole when Connors grabbed her:

"You should take a look at these papers left by Dr. Lizard."

Gwen listened to her advice and went over, picking up the papers on the table that had been soaked with the medicine. From top to bottom, the titles of the papers were:

Research on Regenerative Systems in Reptiles

Feasibility of Applying Regenerative Systems to the Human Body

Combining Human Cell Regeneration with Reptiles

"Successfully Growing a Limb from a Rabbit with a Broken Leg"

The title of the last paper wasn't even finished, and the content was completely blank. It seemed that Dr. Lizard saw hope in applying the broken leg and belly to humans, and he couldn't wait to conduct human experiments.

At the very bottom is not Dr. Lizard's thesis, but a letter, a letter from "Peter Parker" to Dr. Connors.

In the letter, Peter Parker seemed to have learned of Dr. Lizard's research findings through some means, and he was eager to undergo human experimentation.

The goal was simply to "stop being bullied" and to become different.

"Peter is dead. I killed him with my own hands." Gwen's voice was still sweet, but not as cheerful. "He turned into a lizard and attacked the students, then reverted to human form before dying."

"And all of this is related to 'Dr. Lizard,' I must find him!"

"There must be a lot of lizards hiding in the sewers. I need to get rid of these problems."

Because Connors was around, Gwen also started using the title "Dr. Lizard" to specifically refer to the biology PhD, just like Connors.

He's already dead—no wonder "telepathy" couldn't find Parker.

Connors nodded to Gwen:

"I'll go with you."

He has plenty of time and wouldn't mind having a gossip session with Gwen.

For Connors these days, Dr. Lizard is nothing special.

"I need to prepare some medicine, some medicine to attract or repel reptiles."

As Gwen spoke, she went to the experimental table and found some unbroken potions, mixing them at a dazzling speed.

Connors knows a lot of things, but chemistry isn't one of his areas of expertise. He only saw Gwen fiddling around for a bit before a large cup of smelly liquid was ready.

The two men divided the foul-smelling liquid into more than a dozen test tubes and then plugged the mouths of the tubes.

Gwen fired a large clump of spider silk, enveloping the test tubes, before the two of them jumped into the cave one after the other.

The cave led directly to New York's sewers, and Gwen tossed out a test tube with a flick of her wrist:

"Little lizard~"

Connors glanced at her from a distance.

"Here~ Come quick, little lizard~" Gwen's voice returned to its cheerful tone.

She didn't look at Connors' expression, but as if she could already see it, she explained:

"I've recovered from Parker's death, and I will live as a true 'hero,' not spend my days feeling down. He taught me a lesson—"

With great power comes great responsibility.

Connors shrank back.

This famous saying of Spider-Man seems a bit out of place for him. Connors has always been "with great power comes great responsibility," making him seem like a complete scoundrel in the American comic book world.

"I should make more potions to attract those lizards, and I also need a plan that can actually be implemented."

Gwen tossed the test tube aside, and the stench filled the entire sewer.

She covered her nose, unwilling to smell the nauseating odor, while Connors remained calm—he had used "mimicry" to alter his physiological structure, temporarily eliminating the need for breathing.

"I should call Dad and tell him the truth about Peter. Maybe I should tell Uncle Ben and Aunt May first."

Connors glanced at Gwen, who was still talking, and kindly reminded her:

"The more you talk, the more stench you ingest."

Gwen: "...—

She shut her mouth.

Connors's reminder wasn't just about silencing Gwen; it was about quieting her down so that she could hear the sounds coming from deep within the sewers herself.

"That's a—" Gwen said, on high alert.

A large group of rats rushed out of the sewer, startling Gwen so much that she jumped out of her skin. Then came a few stray cats and several non-venomous snakes.

Even after all the little animals had run away, the sounds from the sewers continued.

A stench assaulted their nostrils, and with an increasingly clear voice, "Dr. Lizard" appeared before them.

"Wow, it's huge!"

Gwen looked up in amazement at the lizard doctor who emerged from the pipe and walked upright.

Dr. Lizard was over three meters tall, with a body almost twice the width of an adult, and a massive, thick tail trailing behind him. "Hey, little dinosaur," Connors said with a smile.

Gwen took a step back, fired webs in different directions with both hands, and then pulled them back forcefully.

As the spider silk stretched tighter and tighter, just before reaching its limit, Gwen released her hands, letting the elasticity of the silk launch her body forward, hurtling towards Dr. Lizard.

Connors quickly grabbed some of the spider silk that Gwen had used and, with his ingenious "trick," turned it into a hammock.

He lay down on it, leisurely watching Gwen and Dr. Lizard battle in the sewers.

Connors had no intention of making a move; using his abilities to deal with Dr. Lizard would be a waste of his talents.

He just wanted to finish this little juicy gossip, then get to know Gwen better, understand the composition of superheroes in this world, and then try to make a big splash to see if there was a "Watcher".

But the arrival of a javelin changed the nature of this spectacle, making things more complicated—the appearance of "Hunter" Kraven.

"I thought that after that lizard died, there were no more creatures in this city worth hunting—but here are two right now."

While the person was still in the darkness, the voice of "Hunter" Craven came first.

Connors's "telepathy" made Craven ignore his presence. The man, shirtless and wearing shorts made of animal skins, approached, looking like a savage.

"We encountered two prey at once; at least this trip wasn't in vain."
