Chapter 209 Simple Stupidity

"Don't you take your clothes off to sleep?"

With his hands tied behind his back, Connors crouched in the corner and spoke to Spider-Gwen.

Gwen was worried that Connors would run away while she was sleeping, so she had to lock him in her bedroom.

However, she couldn't easily take off the mask on her face or the battle suit she was wearing.

The suit was form-fitting, with nothing underneath except some essential personal clothing.

She couldn't take off the mask either; if she did, Connors would see her true face.

Gwen burrowed herself completely under the covers, only her eyes, hidden by a mask, peeking out through the gaps.

"Impossible, I need to be ready to deal with your escape at any time."

Connors kindly reminded him:

"But you just said on the phone with your dad that you would sleep in your work clothes tonight so you wouldn't be late for work tomorrow."

Gwen sat bolt upright.

"Oops!"

She had almost forgotten about it, and now she didn't care about anything else. She quickly found her work clothes among the pile of clothes in the corner and rushed to the bathroom.

Amidst the clanging of mantises, Gwen knocked over countless bottles and jars in the bathroom before finally returning to her bedroom.

She was still wearing her battle suit close to her body, but on top of that, she wore the work clothes she needed to wear when she worked at the pizza shop.

As for her head, Gwen still wore her white mask, which looked somewhat comical.

Most importantly, Connors looked at Gwen as she returned to the bedroom and pointed to the English letters on her chest and abdomen:

"Jones Pizza? Is that the name of the pizza place you work at?"

Gwen glanced down instinctively and saw the words in bold and large font on her work clothes, revealing the workplace she had been trying so hard to hide.

She couldn't help but squat down, covering her face with her hands, "Oh my god—"

Gwen was on the verge of collapse, but even so, she had no intention of killing him to cover it up. She just gripped the hood with both hands and desperately tried to figure out how to prevent Connors from exposing her.

Gwen quickly raised her head, her gaze fixed on Connors through her mask:

"Something seems off?"

Her crouching posture gradually changed, transforming into Spider-Man's classic pose, clearly positioning Connors as prey:

Your hands are clearly tied—

Gwen's voice was short and sharp, clearly indicating that she was in a state of extreme caution.

"But when I came in wearing my work uniform, you clearly pointed at me."

"Did you willingly submit to my capture, or do you have other motives?"

Gwen's eyes on her mask sharpened, and she slowly took off the "Jones Pizza" uniform she had just put on with one hand, gently tossing it into a corner.

Just as Connors thought Spider Gwen was about to charge at him for a fight, Gwen's voice changed, becoming somewhat soft and vulnerable:

"Whatever your purpose, can we discuss not damaging anything in this apartment?"

"What?" Connors had never heard of such a request before.

Gwen thought Connors hadn't heard her clearly, so she repeated herself and explained, "I still owe my landlord rent. If that old lady finds out that I not only owe rent but also broke her precious furniture, she'll definitely kick me out."

Connors tentatively reached for the cabinet against the wall, as if to push it over, which made Gwen jump onto the ceiling in a panic.

A spider silk was shot over.

This time, the spider silk seems to have been produced in a larger quantity, with greater thickness, hardness, and toughness than before.

This thing is okay for dealing with ordinary people, but it's not enough for Connors.

Using his "Little Tricks" ability, Connors casually scooped up the spider silk that had been launched and wrapped it around his fingertips.

A finger is stretched out by the ability of "mimicry" to serve as a knitting needle, and spider silk serves as the knitting thread.

A few seconds later, under Gwen's bewildered gaze, Connors handed her the face mask woven from spider silk:

Say thank you.

Gwen stared blankly as Connors manipulated her spider silk with ease, instinctively taking the palm-sized spider silk mask:

"Thanks-"

After discovering that her spider silk was of no use to Connors, she sat dejectedly on the edge of the bed:

"I should actually give you a little shoving, but I'm worried I'll damage the furniture here—"

Her mask conveyed a distressed expression:

"Perhaps we should be honest with each other. My name is Gwen Stacy Connors." Busily flipping and jumping the spider silk that she had used to bind herself with her fingers, her ten fingers forming a strange shape, the spider silk wrapped around her fingertips to form the shape of a "spider".

"You might know me as 'Spider-Woman' or 'Spider-Gwen'."

......

Gwen was introducing herself, but her eyes were fixed on Connors' twitching fingertips. She couldn't help but change the subject:

"How did you do that? I mean, you just used your fingers like this and that, and then a spider logo appeared—"

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw the "spider logo" being twisted into a "guitar".

Even with her superhuman physical abilities, dynamic vision, and spider-sense, Gwen still couldn't see how Connors did it.

"Don't just stand there, keep going. It'll be my turn after you finish your introduction," Connors urged.

As he spoke, the white spider silk wrapped around his fingertips began to pulsate, fold, and flip again.

This time, it's not about becoming some kind of symbol, but rather like a Chinese shadow play: "The Man Who Laughs," "The Battle of Metropolis," and "Stealing the Kryptonian Ship."

The things Connors had done were revealed on the spider web.

"I was bitten by a genetically modified spider, and that's how I gained superpowers—"

Gwen spoke slowly, worried that speaking too fast would interfere with her viewing of the "spider web puppet show" in Connors' hands.

A few minutes later, Connors stopped what she was doing, and Gwen also stopped talking.

"I haven't graduated yet, and I haven't even had a chance to do my first internship. I like to go play with bands in my spare time—"

"I had no money, so I missed the vast majority of parties. I went to nightclubs and similar places, but I was kicked out again because I had no money."

Connors muttered to himself that the image of Gwen in his mind was gradually becoming more defined, which could be summed up in one word: poor.

Because of poverty, Gwen never had the chance to experience those chaotic and crazy scenes. She spent her free time wandering around in her uniform, and her social life consisted of nothing but her band.

"What a naive and foolish college student!"

Connors sighed, then turned to Gwen, who had already introduced herself and was waiting for him to speak:

"The part about me has already been shown to you through the spider silk."

Gwen looked bewildered:

"What? I thought you were just acting out 'Tom and Jerry'—"
