Chapter 208: Living off a woman

Where the hell did I go? How come this involves "Mr. Fantastic" Reed?

His hands were bound behind his back with spider silk, and "Spider-Gwen" was allowed to swing between tall buildings, eventually landing on the Ferris wheel in the amusement park that had already closed due to the night.

"I remember when I first met Cindy 'Spider Silk,' I was tied up like this too."

Connors' mouth was sealed shut with spider silk, and he muttered helplessly to himself.

Gwen's spider silk couldn't really bind him easily; Connors was just pretending to be captured, hoping to extract some useful information from Gwen.

He left Earth Zero, choosing a destination that was completely random. Unexpectedly, he ended up in the Marvel Universe and happened to run into Spider-Gwen.

Connors avoided using the "Mother Box" and the "Equation of Life" as much as possible, and he threw both of them into the House of Mystery.

"Intermediate Hypnosis" won't work on Gwen. The abilities "Telepathy" and "Dream Relics" are not secretive to use and may even make Gwen feel hostile towards him.

After much deliberation, Connors decided to honestly ask Gwen verbally about everything in this world.

Tied to the Ferris wheel, Connors silently used his "biofield" to make himself feel less uncomfortable while suspended.

Gwen first carefully checked Connors' hands and feet to make sure he was securely bound before quickly weaving a non-sticky spider web on the Ferris wheel.

With her head resting on her hands, Spider-Gwen leisurely looked at Connors:

"Normal thinking would be that after I capture you, I'd immediately hand you over to 'Mr. Fantastic'."

"But I'm just a naive young girl; I don't even know where the 'Mr. Fantastic' building is."

"And I'm curious, what exactly did you do to get 'Mr. Fantastic' to spread your image to every 'superhero'?"

She carefully removed the spiderweb from Connors' mouth, not forgetting to warn him:

"I hope your superpower isn't just about fighting with your mouth."

Before Connors could speak, a cell phone rang urgently, and Gwen quickly held up one finger to signal him.

"Shh!"

"Feed? Dad? — Uh, I was indeed wearing that battle suit, but I wasn't fighting!"

"Okay, I know. Tomorrow is my first day working at the pizza shop—don't worry, I won't be late!"

"I'll sleep in my work clothes so I can get to work as soon as I wake up—"

"Every Spider-Man is destined to be a wage earner," Connors thought with a smile.

After a long pause, Gwen hung up the phone from her father. Even through her mask, you could feel the struggle on her face.

"Oh no, I haven't even worked a single day at my first job and you've already found out—I'll have to find a new job."

"I need to write a resignation letter to quit my job, but I just submitted my resume today! — Don't laugh!"

Seeing Connors's gleeful expression, Gwen slapped the Ferris wheel pillar in annoyance.

"I can't just hand you over to 'Mr. Fantastic' like this. He won't care much about my work, but 'Human Torch' from the 'Fantastic Four' is a big mouth. He'll definitely find out where I work and then spread the word!"

Gwen became increasingly regretful as she spoke, while Connors remained silent, smiling, with his hands and feet bound.

A few minutes later.

"Got it!"

Gwen's eyes lit up:

"I've found a way to shut you up and hand you over to 'Mr. Fantastic'!"

Connors' curiosity was piqued:

"What methods? Cutting my vocal cords? Brainwashing? Intimidation? Ear piercing? Or just kill me?"

With each word Connors uttered, Gwen's eyes widened slightly behind her mask; she was clearly terrified of him.

whispered:

"—Isn't this too...too bloody and violent?"

"So what's your method?" Connors was genuinely curious this time.

Spider-Gwen chuckled:

"If I try to become friends with you, and if you're a good person, I certainly won't give you to 'Mr. Fantastic,' and you won't reveal my workplace because of our friendship."

Connors: "...."

"Is there a problem?" Gwen whispered.

After she explained her method, she realized that something seemed off.

"If I were a bad guy, wouldn't becoming friends with me mean making enemies of all the superheroes on Earth?"

Connors said, somewhat speechless, that he wanted to tap Gwen on the head to see if it was filled with a watermelon.

Gwen suddenly realized, "That's right! I knew something didn't seem right!"

She almost applauded Connors on the spot; she even raised her hand halfway before awkwardly lowering it again.

"But I don't want to give up the job I finally found, I don't want anyone to know that 'Spider-Gwen works at a pizzeria,' and I especially don't want to hurt you—"

If this were Connors, he could use "dream relics" to "reassemble" them to achieve a brainwashing effect.

You can use "tricks" to silence the other person.

You can use the "Lock Picking Master" to lock the other person's senses.

In extreme cases, it's possible to kill someone to silence them, just like killing hundreds or thousands of "Reeds".

But none of these methods were applicable to the beautiful and kind-hearted Miss Gwen.

Even as night fell and Gwen had to prepare to go home to sleep, she hesitated about what to do with Connors.

"It seems we can't think of a good solution in the short term," Gwen said angrily. She picked up Connors and then swung him around in the webs. After several dizzying spins, Gwen brought Connors to the windowsill of an apartment building on the nineteenth floor.

She shot out a thin spider silk through the window crack, wrapped it around the window switch, and pulled it.

After the window opened, Gwen jumped in, carrying Connors.

A faint, pleasant fragrance replaced the car exhaust fumes outside. What came into view was a bedroom with pink wallpaper, wrinkled clothes scattered everywhere, and books and musical instruments placed haphazardly.

Connors even saw blue and white striped panties and a bra on the same pink single bed.

Gwen's hood and mask were still on, but Connors could sense that her face seemed to flush slightly, and strands of spider silk shot out from her wrists, sticking to her private clothing and tossing it into a corner.

Messy clothes are easy to deal with; Gwen can just toss them in a corner. But those equally messy books are not so easy to tidy up.

"You, you, you turn around! Face the window, don't look! I'll tidy this up right away!"

With a whoosh, a large clump of spider silk swept over Connors' shoulder, sealing the window shut. Gwen's voice came from behind Connors:

"And no peeking through reflections!"

My "mimicry" was enough to allow me to shift my gaze to the back of my head, and Connors obediently faced the window without moving.

It took quite a while to tidy up the room, with the clattering of books and the sounds of water glasses being scooped up and food being served.

"I've made up my mind. You will be under house arrest for a while. Give me some time to figure out what to do with you!"

"Your meals and daily entertainment are confined to this apartment; you are not allowed to go anywhere else!"

"I'll bring you food back every day, so you don't need to worry about going hungry. Also, you can use the water and toilet in the bathroom as you please."

"You can read a book, watch TV, and if I'm out and don't come back, you can call and order pizza—"

Gwen's voice trailed off, and she collapsed onto the bed in a state of utter despair.

"Oh my god, if my dad knew I brought a man home the night before my first day of work, and that I'm even responsible for his food and daily needs, he'd kill me!"

Connors smiled with satisfaction. He had traveled through many universes and participated in many events, but this was the first time he had been so clearly arranged.

"Finally, I'm living off a woman," Connors said with satisfaction.
