Warhammer 30: The Second Legion's Expedition

Chapter 60 Pride, Disappointment, and Seeds

Chapter 60 Pride, Disappointment, and Seeds

Hector's roar echoed at the monument to the warriors.

The overwhelming rage and twisted hatred in the voice made all the Dawnbringers present tremble, and they instinctively knelt on one knee in the direction of Hector.

Meanwhile, the Dawnbringers on the other ships also vaguely sensed the anger emanating from the Father of Genes within that genetic bond.

They were terrified and had no idea what was happening. Communication was chaotic and disorganized, with all sorts of information flying around as they tried to figure out what had happened.

In space, some frigates began to enter a state of search and combat readiness.

"I don't think he meant any harm, brother," Paris said.

"Because he saved me."

Hector's anger did not subside. He said, "So he thinks you should have died long ago? How arrogant of him to trust so-called prophecies!"

The coldness in his voice was like a sharp steel knife, but it wasn't directed at Paris.

Hector may have worried and feared about the so-called prophecies, but he never believed in them.

"..." Paris didn't know what to say for a moment, because after the Crimson Wolf arrived.

The chaotic, vast sea transformed into a more peaceful and stable state, making his perception even more acute.

Paris could sense that the other person truly believed it in their spirit, and was surprised, delighted, and proud of some kind of change.

It seems the other party has found a chance to save the situation and is working towards it.

"He asked me to pass on a few words to you, brother." Paris didn't linger on this point, but instead brought up the important matter. As he spoke, a struggle appeared on his face, but it quickly turned into determination: "He said that this must be told to you, as these matters concern the life and death of the Second Legion."

"The legion is under my control," Hector roared in a low voice, but he suppressed his dissatisfaction when facing Paris.

He asked, "What is it?"

Paris recalled his hazy memories, and just as he vaguely remembered, a shadow like a silver screen flashed across his skull.

Behind that shadow, a blurry, multi-winged, multi-eyed being suddenly appeared, varying in size and distance, constantly shifting.

His appearance in Paris through the red wolf's imprint was so brief that Paris could not even recall or glimpse it.

That is a time that cannot be bound by any unit of measurement; it may be so short as to not exist at all, or so long as to cause the universe to perish.

He used the gap left by the red wolf to bypass the mark that the emperor had given to Paris.

Within the labyrinth of the altered heavens, satisfied shrieks echoed. The Lord of Change, through the Red Wolf's well-intentioned but mischievous reminder, personally planted the seeds of murder and transformation.

The flower of corruption does not bloom in a day, but rather takes root, sprouts, and grows slowly and imperceptibly, like the passing years.

Paris was completely unaware of this. He should have kept quiet, since Hector was already furious, but Paris continued to speak freely without any restraint. His narrative was no longer as deliberate or hesitant as before.

If it were the rational Hector of the past, or if it were someone else other than Paris, Hector would have noticed the anomaly.

That's the difference between humans and machines.

"Brother, he said directly that you and he are brothers."

"They are brothers created by the emperor, sharing the same bond and bloodline."

He said his name was Magnus.

"Magnus..." Hector's anger vanished in an instant, and he murmured the name softly.

The throbbing sensation within his body instantly made him realize that all of this was real.

The other party was not lying; he truly was a brother I could trust.

Perhaps there were other reasons. Hector's complexion had improved considerably.

He stopped dwelling on it; the other party had indeed saved Paris, and this inexplicable bond made Hector willing to give the other party a little more trust.

"He kept us away from fighting the Kraf Xenomorphs and an unknown Xenomorph called Randan."

"He said that only by doing this can the legion be saved from future misfortune and destruction."

Hector's trust and goodwill vanished in this one sentence.

He stared at Paris in disbelief, his brown eyes bloodshot as if blood vessels had burst.

Emotions beyond words relentlessly assaulted Hector's superhuman brain, causing this invincible and invincible demigod to experience suffocation and dizziness on several occasions.

Hector nearly fell to the ground; this time, even his roaring rage had vanished.

If given a choice, Hector would almost certainly abandon the vast majority of his resources to bring his brother Magnus to his side. He would personally twist off Magnus's head and crush all his bones.

"His arrogance will destroy him. Perhaps he has seen a lot, seen a lot." Hector breathed heavily.

Even as his last shred of reason burned away, he was still able to grasp the most important points and unwillingly provide evidence to support the other side.

The first piece of evidence was the Clough Xenomorph, which even he had only recently come to know about, something his brother Paris would never know.

The other party clearly possesses the ability to foresee the future.

But it was precisely because of this that Hector was able to sense the deep arrogance of his brother Magnus, which he loathed.

"This arrogance will surely destroy him, and I'll wait and see." Hector laughed in extreme rage.

His smile remained unchanged, but the bulging, menacing veins between his brows and the still piercing gaze in his narrowed eyes sent a shiver down Paris's spine.

Paris was confused. He didn't understand why his brother was so furious, since he had just conveyed only a friendly reminder from Magnus.

He seemed to have lost his memory of that time, but upon careful recollection, he could recall that there was not a single mistake, and everything was traceable.

Just as Paris was about to continue speaking, recounting how, in spirit form, he discovered those mortals whose spiritual energy was amiss and who harbored ill intentions, with Magnus's help.

And how, with Magnus's final psychic help, he returned to his body and came here.

boom!

They heard a deafening explosion.

Unseen by them, several escort ships and attack cruisers surrounding the Dawn were attacked. One warship was the first to be targeted and was destroyed in space before the technicians and mechanics could even activate their void shields.

The Dawn's dagger-like ram also withstood heavy enemy fire, with large pieces of debris the size of heavy vehicles being torn away.

Some warriors were mercilessly thrown into space, exposed to deadly cosmic radiation. Apart from a very few fully equipped Astartes warriors who survived, most perished instantly in this completely unexpected attack.

Hector pulled the still overloaded Paris to his feet, and faced the Dawnbringers who rushed towards them in a panic to provide protection, Hector's face was as hard as iron.

With his hands stained with the blood of his offspring, listening to their useless and noisy arguments, and facing Magnus's arrogant conclusions and advice, the massive expeditionary fleet was once again suddenly attacked.

One thing after another happened in less than two hours.

For the first time, Hector began to ask himself if he had been too kind and gentle to his offspring, so much so that they had become so incompetent and lost their vigilance.

This attack could not have been caused by long-range firefights, but rather by close-range fire that penetrated directly through the massive escort fleet.

Hector snatched the chainsaw sword from Ahoka's hand.

Ahoka, who arrived first, looked up in horror and saw Hector's face through his scarlet goggles.

That was the first time their genetic father showed no smile, no tolerance, when dealing with his offspring. His words left the charging Dawnbringers frozen in agony:

"You have disgraced me."
