Chapter 1091 - 1092: An unexpected meeting.
In a deserted corner of the ruined city outside the territory of the Six Factions of Fire, Idan noticed how the first creature appeared in his field of vision of the Soul Force, followed by others.Prina was quicker and was the first to notice the intruders, hiding behind Idan.
"Oh, they're everywhere."
Idan noticed how they were surrounded from all sides, leaving no escape route.
Two bright red dots appeared in the darkness of the alley. Then another and another.
By this point, Idan already knew who these uninvited guests were–they were beasts. Or rather, a pack of fire wolves.
One by one, large wolves covered in ashes, growling and baring their teeth, began to appear from the dark alleys. Their eyes burned with fire and radiated hostility. The sharp claws dug into the hard surface like a knife into butter.
Idan counted about 12 wolves, and most importantly, they were all Platinum-ranked.
Kill them? came Prina's calm voice in Idan's head. He turned around and saw that she was still playing the scared girl, even though her voice didn't betray any fear.
"No, not yet," he stopped her.
Then Idan looked to his right and looked up. On the roof of the destroyed building, he saw another wolf, larger and more muscular, with thick fur the color of smoldering coals. Flames seemed to be burning on his shoulders and back. His eyes burned with a bright amber fire, and his fangs resembled red-hot blades.
Most importantly, Idan recognized this wolf.
"I didn't expect to meet one of you so soon," Idan said with a smile, recognizing this wolf as one of the seven beasts chosen by the Will of the World to be the Gatekeepers of the Eastern Gates of the Dungeon.
Hearing Idan's words, the wolf, whose gaze was full of malice, frowned. He didn't remember meeting this man before.
Prina's pretense dissipated, and she stood next to Idan, looked at the wolf, and then at Idan.
"Do you know him?"
"I met him once," Idan nodded. Then, in front of all the wolves, he touched his face and took off the {Ghost Mask}.
"I think you recognize me now?" he asked, removing his disguise and revealing his true identity.
The wolf's eyes immediately opened, and he recognized Idan as another Gatekeeper of the Dungeon Gates, chosen by the World itself.
The wolf's eyes immediately widened when he recognized Idan as another Gatekeeper of the Dungeon Gates, chosen by the World itself.
With the removal of the {Ghost Mask}, Idan's entire disguise fell off: not only his appearance changed, but also his special energy, and even his smell.
After visual recognition, the wolf sniffed and smelled a familiar scent, which confirmed his suspicions. Now he was sure that this was really who he claimed to be.
The wolf growled at the other wolves, and they immediately stopped grinning and lost their hostility, replacing it with curiosity.
The leader himself jumped off the roof right in front of Idan, raising a cloud of ash. Prina did not let him touch them, lightly scattering the ashes with a wave of her hand.
The leader came closer and sniffed, his amber eyes blazing with bewilderment. He could clearly feel the fluctuations of a Gold-ranked being. How could such a weak creature become a Gatekeeper, survive, and even end the event ahead of time?
Even as beasts, they had their own source of information and connections with other Awakened Ones, so they were aware of the events that took place at the Central Gate. In addition, all the actions of Idan and Arabel were broadcast, and they were seen by all the Awakened.
But no matter how hard the wolf tried, he couldn't relate the man standing in front of him to the legendary creature he had heard about.
"I heard that you guys, like the others, successfully defended your Gates," Idan said, ignoring the puzzled look of the wolf.
The wolf snorted and grinned, as if to say, "Of course we could. Did you think we couldn't handle it?"
Looking around, Idan asked:
"Where are the others?"
The wolf frowned slightly and carefully looked at Idan with his amber eyes. He then growled towards the other wolves, and soon two of them came and sat down in front of them.
"Are they offering us seats on them?" asked Prina, wrinkling her face.
"Yes," Idan nodded and, without hesitation, climbed onto the back of the nearest wolf. "Don't be squeamish, sit down."
Prina pouted with displeasure. With obvious reluctance, she nevertheless climbed onto the wolf's back and settled sideways, as if trying to make as little contact with his ashen fur as possible.
As soon as they were on the backs of the wolves, the leader turned around and, making sure once more, leapt to the roof of the building with one leap, followed by the others.
The speed of the Platinum-ranked wolves was truly impressive. They glided easily among the rubble of destroyed buildings, without slowing down or attracting attention.
They quickly left the ruined city and headed away from it.
Idan could only watch as the city was left behind.
His older brother and Adrian could wait.
Having met one of those seven beasts, Idan couldn't miss the opportunity to get to know them better. Moreover, he wanted to meet them himself, since he had heard some details about the Gatekeepers of the Eastern Gate of the Dungeon.
Not far from the city, the wolves entered a dark and deep transportation tunnel. Moving along it, about halfway the wolves dived into a small passage formed after the collapse of the tunnel.
So they got into a network of underground caves.
Wolves could see perfectly and easily navigate in these caves. After walking a little more, they came out into a huge cavity where a river of lava was bubbling, like a waterfall rushing out, where a grand canyon opened.
There were many different beasts waiting for them in the cave. Upon seeing the appearance of wolves and humans on their backs, the beasts immediately became alert.
The leader of the wolves, ignoring them, came forward and howled for a long time.
In less than ten seconds, there was a commotion among the beasts.
Two fiery creatures flew in from the natural terraces of the cave leading outside, and three appeared from the crowd of parted beasts.
At the very end, in the distance, on top of a large rock, a huge snake appeared, writhing. His long, powerful body was covered with scales resembling dark obsidian with scarlet cracks.
There were bright fire patterns running down the snake's back, as if molten magma was flowing inside it. His golden-red eyes radiated coldness and power. With every move he made, the air around him trembled with heat.
It was that snake-the leader of the seven beasts, the Gatekeepers of the Eastern Dungeon Gate.
