Chapter 625 Release My Son
Chapter 625 Release My Son
"Release my son."
Duke Grant spoke up once he heard the army was far enough to no longer be seen over the hill on the horizon, and Mark stood up and spoke to one of the demons at his side to carry James away.
"I'll release him after the message has been sent to the king and I receive a response. I know better than to trust someone who hates demons as much as you."
Duke Grant growled somewhere deep in his throat, but he eventually huffed and turned around to walk back to the tent with Mark, Arit, Riger, and Hunn following behind him.
Once they got to the tent, Mark brought out the letter he wanted them to send to the king, and Duke Grant read through it properly with a scowl on his face. There was a section of the letter where the duke was supposed to put his signature and stamp to show he was in agreement with Mark, and the Duke never felt more disgusted with himself than at that moment as he did just that.
Once he was done putting his signature, he called on one of the messenger hawks and put the letter in the holster on its back before sending it off towards the castle with a quick command.
Mark nodded and turned around to leave with the rest of his council. Riger seemed hesitant to leave as he stared at the Duke with one hand on the hilt of his sword. It was obvious that Riger wanted to kill the man, but Mark's threatening presence was the only thing holding him back. The Duke spoke up before Mark could leave.
"What about my son!?"
Mark turned around and gave the duke a look of confusion, as if it was obvious that he wasn't going to get his son back yet.
"I'll hand him back to you when I get a favorable response from your king. Until then, keep your army in check, and I will do the same with mine. Have a nice day, Duke."
And with that, Mark and his entourage turned and left.
SMASH!
The duke slammed his hand into the table, breaking it into a million pieces and sending it crashing to the ground as he cursed!

The army listened to Mark's words and slowly quieted down as some of them began to see the sense in what Mark was saying. Mark was right about the fact that they had been losing the war badly before he came here. It was this fact that made it so irritating that Mark was willing to seek peace with the angels after everything that they did.
But recently, Mark had led the demons to nothing but victory after victory, so they were more willing to listen to what he had to say since they knew that he wasn't talking from a place of cowardice. Mark was a strong warrior, and if he wanted to, he could have continued fighting the war for a long time, so Mark saying that he wanted peace made them wonder if he was really trying to look out for them.
"Do you think the demon lord is telling the truth? Will the angels agree to a peace treaty?"
"Like I care about that! I just want to kill those bastards! They took my child from me! I won't rest until they are all dead!"
"The demon lord has really lost his mind. Maybe it's because of that angel girl he brought back with him. I'm sure he's fucking her and she made him change his mind about the war!"
"Don't you remember what happened to that undead girl when she tried to sleep with the demon lord?"
"That demon queen will kill anyone that tries getting close to the demon lord. There's no way he's sleeping with an angel."
"Those angels are nothing but trouble! Just kill all of them and take their land and women!"
Thoughts and opinions filtered through the army as they murmured amongst themselves, and it wasn't long until the army had become divided. Half of them agreed with Mark's opinion. They thought that the war had gone on for far too long and it was about time they ended it, but the other half, who were a lot more vocal about their opinions, thought that Mark had gone mad and he shouldn't even try to end the war! The war against the angels was started by the angels as far as they were concerned, and they were not going to stop until they ended what those fucking birds started!
This was the state of the army for the next few days after Mark's fight against James and the meeting with the duke, and it wasn't long before that week had passed.
