Chapter 624 The Weight of Responsibility

Chapter 624 The Weight of Responsibility

A loud sonic boom echoed through the air as the spear flew true, and James realized that he couldn't move out of the way quickly enough, so he was forced to bring up a light shield to protect himself!

Slam!

Crack!

The spear slammed into the shield and left a large crack on its side, and James took it down and opened his palm to summon his magic! A wide magic circle opened over their heads, and James pointed it at Mark and fired hundreds of light arrows!

Ratatatatatatat!

James expected Mark to either dodge out of the way or maybe deploy magic of his own, but James was stunned when Mark suddenly started to run toward the arrows! What the hell was he doing!?

Mark slammed his feet into the ground and shot off towards James, and when the arrows finally got to him, Mark swiped his hand across the air and dispelled them like they were nothing!

James cursed in his mind and immediately brought up another light shield while drawing his sword in a rasp of steel!@@@@

BZZT!

Lightning danced across Mark's hand as he neared, and he unleashed a blow beyond anything James had ever seen in his life!

[Divergent Fist]!!

[Sonic Impact: Lightning]!!

Boom!

The mighty shield that James had created didn't even last a second against the massive blow, and James immediately brought up his sword as extra protection!

The fist slammed into the sword, and James grit his teeth as lightning was sent screeching through every nerve in his body before he was shot to the ground like a comet!

Boom!

James was immediately back on his feet after that, and Mark couldn't help feeling impressed. Even Gunter didn't get back up from a blow like that! This just showed how powerful James was!

But this fight was over!

'He's really tough. No one has gotten up from two Divergent Fists before.'

James' legs were shaking and his upper armor had been blown clean off, leaving him in only the lower armor and a white tunic, but he was still on his feet as he raised his shaky arm towards Mark and pointed his sword at him. Mark flashed over to James in a sonic boom and stood right before James, and when he looked into James' glaring eyes, Mark saw that there was no light in there anymore.

James was unconsious.

'He stood up even after passing out. Not bad for an angel. Not bad at all.'

Mark tapped James on the head once and James' eyes rolled to the back of his head before he fell to his knees and collapsed.

The fight was over.

"YARGGHHHH!!!"

Cheers rang out from the Myriad castle as all the demons who had been watching the fight raised their swords and stomped their feet in victory! The opposite side of the field – where the angels were gathered – was deathly silent as they tried to comprehend what had just happened.

To them, James was one of their strongest warriors, and seeing him being decimated so easily was too shocking to them!

Mark grabbed James' sword from the ground and many of the angels yelled out in outrage as they saw Mark put the sword right beside James' neck! Duke Grant took a step forward toward Mark and shouted!

"Don't you dare touch my son!!"

His aura burst to life around him as he tried to seem more threatening, but Mark only narrowed his eyes as he pressed the sword tighter against James' neck.

"I won the battle, therefore the war is over. Tell your forces to retreat."

Mark eyed the duke threateningly and waited for what he was going to do. Mark knew that there was a chance the Duke would simply ignore the agreement and tell his army to charge forward regardless, but with his son and daughter in the hands of the demons, the Duke was less likely to do anything rash.

And just like Mark predicted, the duke hesitated for a moment as he looked from Mark to his unconscious son. The duke grit his teeth as he felt very conflicted at that moment, but eventually, his desire to protect his children won over his hatred for the demons and he shouted to the angel generals behind him!

"Tell the forces to retreat back to the castle! NOW!"

The generals didn't move for a second after the Duke spoke, but then he shouted at them with even more intensity and they finally realized that he was not delusional! He was actually telling them to retreat from the war!?

The angel generals looked from one person to another, trying to see if any of them would move first, and it wasn't until one of the older angels turned and shouted to the troops to retreat that the rest of them started to do the same. Duke Grant was left standing in the middle of the field alone with the demons and two of his generals while the rest of the angels left back to his castle in confusion.
