Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker

Chapter 723 Godric Valley

Chapter 723 Godric Valley

Chapter 723 Godric Valley

No one knows what Dumbledore said, but the next day, Cornelius Fudge, who had already been ousted from his post, actually came back to the Ministry of Magic and readily agreed to continue serving as Minister for Magic.

That's what it said in the Daily Prophet, along with a photo taken in front of the minister's office.

Fudge's face was ashen, his whole body tense, and he didn't look happy at all.

"When I found Cornelius, he was celebrating with his friends that he had left the Ministry of Magic early, and they were planning a ball next week."

Although Dumbledore's expression didn't change when he said this, Sirius could still tell that he was a little angry.

But thinking about it, it makes sense. In Britain today, almost all wizards live in the shadow of Voldemort and the Death Eaters, always treading carefully when they go out. And among those responsible for fighting them—the Strikers, Aurors, and the Order of the Phoenix—people are dying every day.

While Cornelius Fudge wasn't the one who started all of this, he indirectly helped Voldemort expand his power.

If he had listened to Dumbledore's advice and made a series of preparations in advance, they would definitely not be in such a passive position now—especially since the Dementors' defection and the fall of Azkaban were directly related to Fudge.

After causing all this, he was singing and dancing to celebrate his escape from disaster.

Moreover, Siren remembered that Fudge seemed to be a staunch pureblood, and perhaps many of the people he invited were Death Eaters.

No wonder Dumbledore was so angry.

Siren didn't ask him how he persuaded Fudge. The process probably wasn't very smooth, but fortunately, the result was good. Fudge returned to the Ministry of Magic and took on this important task.

After resolving all of this, Dumbledore decided to keep his promise and help Sheryl resolve the issue of the Ravenclaw crown.

Siren wants to turn a complete Horcrux into a wand, and the most troublesome problem is how to destroy the Horcrux itself.

As is well known, Horcruxes exist to protect the soul fragments within them, and are incredibly sturdy with the aid of magic, making them extremely difficult to destroy. There are only a few ways to destroy them.

However, Xilun has already come up with a solution to this problem.

"Shall we use Gryffindor's sword again?" Dumbledore asked.

"That's right." Xilun nodded.

"But I must remind you." Dumbledore seemed to always carry the Sorting Hat with him. He took it out, grabbed the sword from the hat, and handed it to Siron.

"Although Slytherin's locket was once a Horcrux, it lost the Horcrux's power when the soul fragment inside was destroyed—a true Horcrux is far more durable than it."

"I know, so I brought this too," Siren said, pulling a dagger-like fang from the shapeshifting lizard skin pouch.

"This is----"

"The basilisk's fangs," Siren said. "I've kept them safe ever since I got them; they're what destroyed the soul fragments in the locket."

Without hesitation, Xilun put away the basilisk's fangs, picked up his sword, and cleaved it in two.

In an instant, the last bit of venom remaining in the fang clung to the sword, then vanished in the blink of an eye.

"Oh, I thought you'd use snake fangs," said Dumbledore. "They seem more convenient, don't they?"

"This approach is more reliable," Celen said.

It's not the basilisk's teeth that can damage Horcruxes, but rather the venom within them. The basilisk's venom corrodes Horcruxes, making them fragile and soft, and when combined with its sharp and hard fangs, it can easily destroy them.

But this time, Siren wasn't trying to destroy the Horcruxes. Instead, he planned to use the basilisk's venom to corrode the Horcruxes and inscribe runes on the crown.

He needs quite a few runes, and after so many years, Xilun can't guarantee that the venom in the basilisk will be enough.

Coincidentally, the Gryffindor sword has the ability to absorb things that can enhance it, including the venom of the Basilisk.

In this way, Xilun will no longer need to worry about whether there is enough supply.

With everything prepared, Xiren decided to find a safe enough place to begin the next step of his plan.

Because Siren suspected that this process might attract Voldemort, it definitely couldn't be done in Grimmauld Place, nor in any crowded place.

"I was going to take you to the school; there's nowhere safer than Hogwarts," Dumbledore said. "But I just thought of another place that would be just as suitable."

He reached out his hand, and Siren naturally took it.

The next second, the two of them disappeared from the spot at the same time.

After a dizzying spin, Xiren found himself in what appeared to be an abandoned village.

There are signs that people once lived here, but for some reason, they all left.

The house closest to Xilun is surrounded by vines of unknown species, indicating that it has been uninhabited for a long time.

"Where is this?" Xilun asked.

"Godric Hollow," Dumbledore said. "That house you see is my former home. I lived here for a long time, until—until I graduated from Hogwarts—"

Dumbledore's voice suddenly became somewhat ethereal.

Xiren looked again at the house surrounded by vines.

"Is nobody here?" he asked.

"It was very lively decades ago, but for some reason, most people moved away, leaving only a small number behind," Dumbledore said. "By the way, not far ahead is Bathilda Bagshot's house; I'm sure you know her."

"Of course, the author of *A History of Magic*," Siren said.

The History of Magic, the only textbook they've used since first grade without ever changing, was certainly familiar to Siron.

"Yes, a very great witch," Dumbledore said softly. "We'd better get away from her without disturbing her. Follow me."

Sheryl could only grab Dumbledore's arm again.

The two Apparated and arrived at a cylindrical place that looked like a granary.

"This is fine. It's safe here. No matter what happens inside or how loud the noise is, no one else will come," Dumbledore said, his tone as familiar as if he were coming home.

Oh wait, this seems to have always been his home.

However, since he had said so, Siron did not hesitate any longer. After entering the barn, he took out the Ravenclaw crown that he had found in the Room of Requirement from the shapeshifting lizard skin bag.
