Chapter 370 Healing Magic
Cara, the "Supergirl," felt a sense of relief, but she was too ashamed to look Connors in the eye.
The beam of light that immobilized him clearly originated from that massive warship, and Connors's act of shooting down the warship demonstrated his stance.
As the warship slowly descended, some dark figures jumped out in panic, each one shimmering with the same green light as the thick beam of light from before.
Connors' body drew a black line in the air, seemingly about to kill all the creatures in one fell swoop, but he stopped in time and flashed back to Kara's side:
"These guys seem to have come specifically for you; they're carrying weapons designed to eliminate Kryptonians."
"How did you know?" Kara's injuries healed rapidly under the yellow sun, and she asked, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"Because of your cousin 'Superman,' I'm quite familiar with Kryptonian substances," Connors said.
As the two were talking, the dark figures that jumped off the spaceship flew toward where they were.
Connors shielded Ruth behind him, while Kara stepped forward to meet the group.
Lucy cautiously peeked out from behind Connors and saw that these uninvited guests had ruddy skin, long, curly black hair, and were incredibly muscular, holding various weapons that gleamed with green light.
Connors was on her side, and Cara, the "Supergirl," felt confident. She stepped forward and spoke first:
"Who are you? Why do you have weapons specifically designed to target Kryptonians?"
These reddish-brown creatures are not much different from humans in appearance, but Kara knows perfectly well that these creatures are a hundred times more troublesome than the "King".
"Because you Kryptonians deserve to be wiped out!" The leader said, relieved to see Connors standing behind Kara.
"We were just passing through this starry sky when we unexpectedly received a distress signal from Krypton."
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Amarak, and I am—"
The tanned guy named Amalak was interrupted by "Supergirl" Kara before he could finish speaking:
"Wait, are you going to say that you have a brother, or two brothers, who were defeated one by one by a Kryptonian called 'Superman' and are being held somewhere?"
Amalak frowned, and a man next to him holding a green fork spoke up:
"What utter nonsense are you spouting?"
Kara was taken aback; she knew she had guessed wrong again.
She had initially thought this group was the family members of her cousin "Superman's" defeated opponents, but it now seemed that was not the case.
"As I said, we came here after receiving a distress signal from a Kryptonian ship," Amalak said.
Connors reminded Cara Delevingne from behind:
"You haven't forgotten, have you? That 'black box' you threw away after your spaceship disintegrated."
Seeing that Kara still seemed somewhat confused, Connors retrieved the specific name of the thing from his memory and repeated it:
"Flight data recorder. They must have picked up the distress signal from this thing."
Cara, a contestant from "Super Girl," suddenly remembered something.
"I thought these weapons were long ago discarded and useless, but I never expected to run into Kryptonian trash again today. I'm so lucky."
Amalak said, craning his neck to look at Connors:
"Friend, we have no grudge against each other, and this isn't directed at you. As long as you don't interfere with what happens next, we can let bygones be bygones regarding your destruction of the spaceship, how about it?"
Supergirl Cara also looked at Connors:
"This is Krypton's 'internal affair,' and I want to handle it myself."
Amalak praised Dichonkar and nodded repeatedly:
"That's right, that's exactly it."
Super Girl Cara clenched her fists and assumed a defensive stance:
"I never expected that just celebrating my birthday would lead to a series of enemies appearing in my life."
Amalak chuckled:
"You Kryptonians are parasites—searching for other races, other planets, and declaring them inferior to your standards, therefore deserving that you interfere with their natural evolution!"
He was holding a machine gun that flashed green light, a color that made "Supergirl" Kara feel uneasy from the bottom of her heart.
"My world was destroyed because of you, and ever since then I have sworn to kill all Kryptonians, and I made this weapon specifically for that purpose."
"Who knew your Kryptonian civilization would be so short-lived, that your own planet would actually explode?"
"Fortunately, someone like you who abandoned your own race survived, which gave me the opportunity to take revenge myself."
Kara loosened his fist:
"I cannot determine for my fellow citizens whether what they did was right or wrong, but if you will give me some time, I will let you know that Krypton is no longer a symbol of colonization, but..."
She thought about it carefully:
"It is a symbol of 'hope' in the universe, and I will do my best to save all lives that need saving."
"It's too late for you to say all this! Hope! Hope that my destroyed world can be restored to its former glory!"
Amarak pulled the trigger, and a kryptonite bullet flew out.
Kara tried to dodge, but her movements became unusually slow and her body became unusually vulnerable. The bullet hit her arm.
Amalak said angrily:
"Do you think you can erase the actions of Krypton's colonization by simply standing here and saying a few words?"
"So they perished," Kara said through gritted teeth, clutching her wounded arm.
Amarak seemed dissatisfied with the answer; he wanted to kill the living Kryptonian in front of him to vent his hatred, so he simply strode up to Kara and pointed his gun at her head.
Boom!
A gunshot rang out, and fragments of the green kryptonite bullet scattered in all directions.
Amalak stared wide-eyed at the unharmed "Supergirl" Kara, noticing her similar bewilderment, before immediately turning his gaze to Connors:
"What did you do?!"
"I didn't do anything," Connors said honestly.
Unconvinced, Amalak snatched a kryptonite fork from one of his men and stabbed it at "Supergirl" Kara, only to see the fork shatter instantly.
He stumbled back a few steps in shock, unable to understand why the weapon specifically designed to deal with Kryptonians had failed him.
Lucy hid behind Connors, her hands wrapped around his arm. She could feel the blood seeping from his arm soaking her clothes, but she remained calm.
Aside from Connors, only Lucy among those present understood what had happened:
The injuries that should have been suffered by "Supergirl" Kara, as well as her weakened body due to the effects of Kryptonite, were transferred to Connors, while Kara regained her steel body.
