Chapter 173 Rule 1
Chapter 173 Rule 1
Chapter 173 Rule One
When Dr. Magnus initially created the "Metal Squadron," the military promised that these robots would be used to perform dangerous tasks that humans could not accomplish, such as search and rescue.
But their first mission after their creation was to "kill," and it was an order from the military.
"I would never kill anyone."
"No way."
"I would like to do something, but definitely not to hurt anyone."
The "Metal Squad" members all spoke up.
"Your robots aren't obeying your orders, soldier?" the military personnel said, looking at the "Metal Squadron."
As he uttered the word "soldier," the soldiers behind him raised their weapons.
"The military's reason for allocating funds to you is that they need a robot capable of performing any task, any task."
"This was done with your consent, Doctor."
Dr. Magnus stood there dumbfounded. Upon hearing these words, the "Metal Squad" rushed out of the laboratory without hesitation and fled into the city.
The military needed the "Metal Squad," so they dispatched troops to capture them, and Dr. Magnus also began his own independent search operation in the following period.
But the laboratory, whose walls had been blown open, was now empty. Masked men in protective suits stole the prototype of the laboratory's "reactor" and threw it into the chemical waste.
A liquid chemical organism, even larger than the "Metal Squadron," has come to life and has been given orders:
"Take down Team Metal."
That evening, Dr. Magnus returned to his apartment, sighing repeatedly.
The search for the Metal Squad has failed, but it will continue tomorrow. He plans to use the evening to devise a method to "repair" the Metal Squad.
The Metal Squad members are so emotionally charged that they are too independent in their thinking, completely disobeying his orders and even arguing with him.
One scrap of paper after another was torn up, crumpled into balls, and thrown into the trash can. It wasn't until the sixth crumpled paper was thrown out that the professor noticed something was wrong.
The trash can seems to have come to life.
"tin?"
Dr. Magnus looked at the trash can and asked, "This thing is the silvery-gray color of 'tin'."
"Yes, it's me, Doctor. I've realized that if all else fails, I can at least be a competent dumping ground," Xi said.
It has been quite timid since its birth.
"Being a dumping ground is a waste of your talents. You cost the military millions of dollars. What are you doing here?" Dr. Magnus asked.
"After we escaped the lab, we found we had nowhere to go. Soldiers were everywhere, trying to capture us. We couldn't hurt them," Tin said.
As "Tin" spoke, the other members of the Metal Squad returned to their original forms, transforming from chairs, door frames, and kitchen utensils:
Do you have a metallic polish? I want to use that as hairspray.
"This place is lovely, I mean, it's really nice."
"Doctor, what should we do now?"

Amidst the cacophony of the Metal Squad, Dr. Magnus pinched his temples in frustration:
"It's a long story, but if I were to fix you—"
"We...we just want to prove our worth, Doctor." "Tin" looked even more distressed than the Doctor.
"What's wrong with us? What did we do wrong? --" "Iron" didn't even bother to show off his muscles anymore.
"What will happen to us once you fix it?" Mercury asked cautiously as it flew through the air.
"You don't want us to do any missions that will hurt other people, right?" Platinum hugged himself, looking somewhat pitiful.
Seeing the "Metal Squad" acting so cautiously despite not having done anything wrong, Magnus desperately tried to explain:
"No, no, no, you did nothing wrong. I'm the one who made the mistake. I shouldn't have given you my feelings—"
A loud crash interrupted his words as a massive mixture of chemical liquids burst through the apartment building's floorboards, turning the space into ruins.
"What is this?"
"It looks like a huge threat."
"We get one—"
"Instinct has been activated. Rule One: Do everything in your power to save others!"
"It's made of chemical waste, and if we don't stop it, it will burn down the city. But platinum isn't so easily corroded."
"Go, Metal Squad!"
Before Dr. Magnus could even get a word in edgewise, Team Metal had already charged out.
The apartment building was burned through, and people are waiting to be rescued.
They disregard the dangers they face from chemical waste and are dedicated to protecting everyone who needs protection.
Due to its ability to transform, the Metal Squad's rescue operation was exceptionally fast. However, once the chemical waste monster was completely surrounded by the doctor, "Gold" rushed directly into the monster's body.
"Jin! What are you doing! The chemicals inside will ruin you!"
"Jin" was not stopped by the doctor and plunged headlong into it:
"To stop this monster from continuing its destruction, we must go inside and find the mechanism that powers it."
"If you're going to erect a statue of me, please make sure it's made of pure gold, okay?"
Dr. Magnus watched helplessly as one of his research findings was lost. He didn't have time to try and stop it; the "iron" had already entered the monster's body.
"It's so good to be alive, Doctor. Even though we've only lived for one day, you must keep living."
"Thank you for giving us feelings," Lead said.
"Humans can't transform as coolly as me!" Mercury, like a diver, gracefully burrowed into the chemical waste.
"We're still quite valuable, aren't we?" Tin said, no longer timid as a mouse.
"Don't be sad, Doctor, this is the purpose for which we were created." Platinum also burrowed inside under Dr. Magnus's gaze, "—to go to places that are too dangerous for humans."
"The Metal Squad just disappeared like that; they lost their activity in the chemical waste, leaving only six reactors behind."
Magnus said, bowing his head and covering his eyes with his hands:
"They didn't intend to destroy anything. Even when they were running away, they were worried about damaging public facilities, so they chose to hide in my apartment. They love beauty, want to watch wrestling matches, want to fall in love, and want to see puppies."
"They don't follow orders, they don't listen to me—they are failures."
The six reaction devices were placed beside Dr. Magnus. Cyborg could clearly sense the thoughts hidden within them. The Metal Squad was not completely dead.
"You tell us they're useless, but actually you don't want to lose them."
Dr. Magnus looked up, revealing a face wet with tears:
"I can't go through anything like this again, Cyborg."
"I really can't do it."
"Steelbow" fell silent.
He is a child from a single-parent family who lacks communication with his father, and he is a rugby player; language is not his forte.
Even after joining the Justice League, he still couldn't convince Boruto with just a few words.
"Steelbow" turned his gaze to "Kusama" in his hand:
"Outsider, I know you can hear me, I need your help."
Connors had been listening to Dr. Magnus's account from a distance, and he noticed that the doctor had previously referred to the "Metal Squadron" as "them".
But after the Metal Squad's sacrifice, the Doctor seemed to treat them as real "people," and always referred to them as "them."
Connors did not choose to go to the scene in person; he had better, more suitable candidates:
"Don't worry, Cyborg. The Justice Society will arrive in one minute."
The Justice Society arrived even sooner than Connors had anticipated.
Speedy already knows everything about the "Metal Squad" and he genuinely likes these metal beings.
Dr. Magnus and Cyborg also learned about the Justice Society's deeds from Connors.
A group of heroes who sacrificed themselves twice for the coastal city.
"Put yourself in their shoes. If the Metal Squad knew about the current situation, what would they choose?" This was the only sentence the Justice Association said upon their arrival.
Dr. Magnus wiped the tears from his face and picked up the reaction instrument:
Rule 1.
"Do your best to save others."
