Chapter 172 Metal Squad

Chapter 172 Metal Squad

"No human allowed."

These words are posted at the entrance of a military research laboratory in Maryland.

"Steelbow" carefully pushed open the door of the laboratory, holding the "Kusama Man" given to him by Connors. He felt as if he had stepped on something.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be just a small metal humanoid model.

"I know why you've come, Cyborg. But I'm sorry, I can't help you. Team Metal is just a batch of failures."

The laboratory was dark—the global power grid had been cut off by the criminal syndicate, and so was this place.

The voice came from the darkness, and Cyborg stepped inside without hesitation:

"The Justice League has disappeared, our world has fallen into enemy hands, and I need a new team."

"But I'm sorry, I can't help you, and I don't want to."

The speaker emerged from the darkness and stood before Cyborg; he was a rather young-looking man with a thick head of hair.

"I created the 'Metal Squadron' from scratch, and witnessed them transform from lifeless metal into intelligent beings. To me, they are like my children."

"I can't bring the children back to their senses and convince them to go and die again."

Six months ago, in the same laboratory, in the same spot he was standing now.

"If you don't hand over your research findings soon, you can expect this laboratory to be abandoned, Dr. Magnus."

As the lab door slammed shut, Dr. Magnus sighed, walked to the table, tore off a piece of paper, and scribbled a line of words on it:

"No human allowed."

After sticking the paper on the door, Dr. Magnus went to his experimental table.

"Today is the last experiment. Recompile the six reactors and write the three rules for the robot."

Rule One: Do everything in your power to save others—

"Each reactor will be placed in an experimental tank containing different metal solutions. Afterward, the reactor will release an electronic signal and permanently combine with the metal solution."

"If intelligent metallic life forms succeed, they will replace humans in various dangerous environmental jobs, but I have experienced hundreds of failures."

As Dr. Magnus muttered to himself, the six reactors reacted in different metal solutions, the liquid metals rising upwards as if to condense into human shapes.

"Gold is online." The first to become humanoid is "Gold." "It is online and looks super handsome. It's really super handsome." The appearance of "Gold" is a tall, handsome man with a golden body. He even has a flashy metal hairstyle on his metal head.

"The 'tin' grade is now available; its appearance is slightly better than average."

The second one to appear was "Xi," who was silver-gray in color, thin and small, as if underdeveloped, and even hunched over. He also spoke with a stutter.

"My audio program seems to have a bug or malfunction."

The third and fourth are "iron" and "lead," one is iron-gray and the other is lead-colored:

"He's iron, I'm lead, we're online—tell me where the bad guy is?!"

They were much taller and larger than "Tin" and "Gold", with prominent metallic muscles, looking like tough guys.

"The 'mercury' is online. The environment here isn't great, but I won't mind it."

The fifth is "mercury," which is reddish in color and liquid in nature.

The sixth one is "Platinum," which has a bright silver appearance and a figure that resembles an exceptionally hot woman.

"Platinum is online, and I think I'm cute. Oh, you guys are cute too."

Dr. Magnus stared blankly as the six reactors fused with the liquid metal and appeared before him in different forms:

"I—successfully?"

"Yes, Doctor, we are your 'Metal Squad'," they said.

"Yes, Doctor, you've successfully brought us to life, so can I watch some TV? There's a WWE wrestling match at five o'clock," Iron said, flexing his biceps.

"Hey idiots, look at me! I'm the only metal among you that can stay liquid at room temperature, and I can come and go as I please in any corner," the red "mercury" said cheerfully as it flew around.

"I think I'm in love."

The one who said this was Lead, whose physique was even more exaggerated than "Iron." The doctor turned his head and saw that this guy was leaning against the vending machine in his laboratory, speaking slowly.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Platinum." Platinum spun around in place, showing off his good physique, and said to the Doctor, "Y-hello—wait, what am I doing?" The Doctor subconsciously greeted him, then suddenly realized that he didn't create these guys to watch them act silly.

"Metal Squadron, line up!" the doctor shouted, mimicking the military's slogan.

"Line up? How do we line up? By weight or height?" "Iron" asked, craning his neck.

"I guess it's based on looks." "Jin" smugly smoothed the metallic hair on his head.

"Why should we line up? I don't like lining up!" Mercury flew around, completely ignoring orders.

"I want to see a puppy—a puppy," Lead said at a frantic pace.

Tin cowered at the doctor's feet, trembling. It seemed a little afraid of the unfamiliar environment, while Platinum crouched down to tease it.

"You look kind of cute when you're trembling."

Doctor Magnus felt like he had at least five vegetable markets running in his ears, and he was getting a little annoyed by the constant chatter.

"Line up, that's an order! By atomic number! Dating? You're a robot! You all are!"

"You guys don't know how to 'love,' you're just a bunch of emotionless bastards!"

These words instantly silenced the noisy "Metal Squad," and "Platinum" stood up somewhat sadly:

"No, we have feelings, and that's what you gave us, Doctor."

"What I mean is, you shouldn't have it."

Dr. Magnus explained.

He also realized that he had just said the wrong thing. Judging from their language and actions, the "Metal Squadron" were as innocent as human teenagers.

Dr. Magnus was still blaming himself, but the slow-moving "Lead" strode up to him and looked down at him.

Dr. Magnus felt a chill run down his spine as he thought of the enduring science fiction theme of "robots betraying humanity."

But Lead looked down at him and said:

"careful!"

One of the laboratory walls was blown open with a bang, and at the same time, "lead" turned into a thick lead wall, which was met with cheers and applause from the other members of the "Metal Squad".

"Hey! The 'lead' has successfully transformed!"

"Great!"

"here you go!"

"Come on! Turning into a wall counts as turning? Watch me!"

"I admit you were more handsome than me for a second, just for that one second."

The military personnel broke down the lab wall, and their first words upon entering were:

"Oh, so these robots are already finished? I thought it would still fail, so I came here to raze this laboratory."

The second sentence from the North is:

"Now that it's done, let's start live-fire training immediately. The government of Kandak has always been a headache for us. The objective of this mission is to annihilate all of Kandak's high-ranking officials."
