1130 Chapter 1130

The man that had suddenly stopped and called out to Lyra stood their stock still and with an astonished look on his face.

Naturally, Marcus and Lyra were wearing similar expressions.

Neither of them had been expecting to come across someone down here that would recognize them. They were several kilometers beneath Mirrion's surface and practically in a different world.

With her illusion magic Lyra easily could have conjured a disguise, but doing so had seemed unnecessary. The chances that anyone that knew her would be in the Darklands was slim to none.

However, perhaps after hearing about the Lamia's society, she and Marcus should have considered the possibility.

Any humans down here were likely to be from either Tralenstein or Borealia, as they were the two nations on the surface closest to this town.

Of course, as a man, the individual that had recognized Lyra was undoubtedly a slave. He appeared to be in good condition and his clothes were actually a bit higher quality than most of the other men that had come into the hotel with him. Denoting some level of higher status. Still, there was no denying the fact that he was considered someone's property down here.

When Marcus glanced over at Lyra, he saw that she had a multitude of emotions showing on her face.

"Petros, your really alive!" Lyra said after appraising the man and fully confirming his identity.

Her outburst caused a bit of a commotion, and before Petros could respond, Yisia slithered over hurriedly.

"Is something the matter? Did this man upset either of you?"

Yisia's eyes were filled with worry as she addressed Marcus and Lyra.

"Very well. I hold you to that. If you don't come back soon enough, though, I'll come looking for you." Lyra said, her words more meant for Yisia than Petros.

She was letting the high-ranking Lamia know that she was not going to just forget about this. Nothing was going to stop her from meeting with Petros again.

After that, things cooled down, though there was a tension that lingered in the air.

When Marcus and Lyra returned to their suite, Marcus wasted no time in asking his longtime friend that he had a deep bond with that spanned two lifetimes about what had just happened.

"Do you mind telling me who that was and what your connection to him is?"

Lyra sighed but nodded her head.

Quillon pooped in just as she was about to explain things to Marcus and ended up having to catch him up on what was going on first.

"Petros used to be a subordinate of mine. He was part of the company of knights under my command when I became the twentieth seat of Tralenstein's Great Knights. It feels like that was an eternity ago, even if its only really be a few years." Lyra said, a nostalgic look on her face.

She went on to explain their relationship and why she thought that Petros had died long ago.

"It was during the very beginning of the rebellion, before you showed up Marcus. He was one of my subordinates that decided to follow me. Unfortunately, he got heavily injured during one of our early battles and went missing. Frankly, he and many others were presumed to be dead. I'm honestly not sure how he survived and ended up down here. I watched him get hit by a barrage of magic cannon fire. He went flying along with dozens of others and must have been launched several kilometers away from the battlefield."

There was a deep pain in lyra's eyes as she recounted one of the many losing battles that the rebellion had suffered during the early stages of the civil war. They had not been quite as organized at this point, and many powerful supporters that joined them later were still neutral.

"I think that I get the gist of it." Marcus said, placing his hand on Lyra's shoulder to comfort her. "So, what do you want to do? I've got your back no matter what."
