Chapter 82: Ch 82 - Conclusion
Looking at Yunis’s lifeless body that had ceased struggling, Pluvia collapsed to the ground. Kenji released his grip, and Yunis’s body swayed gently where it hung.
What Kenji had done was simple - he had merely helped Yunis die quickly. As for whether he was afraid...
Truthfully, when he first came to this world, he had feared killing and harming others. But whether due to the latent memories and physiological traits of this body, or because he had grown accustomed to it, he no longer felt excessive fear.
"Your Majesty, let’s go," Kenji said softly. "It’s best if you don’t look up."
It would be better if Pluvia didn’t see the appearance of a hanged man, though seeing it wouldn’t really matter. After all, with his help, Yunis hadn’t died purely from hanging - it was more of an execution. But that period of struggling had still left his appearance somewhat frightening.
Pluvia didn’t answer him, instead opening her eyes and raising her head to look at her brother’s death pose. She trembled.
Then those clear eyes closed, and when they reopened, they were completely calm.
"Let’s go," she said softly.
"Your Majesty will need to call out, otherwise it won’t seem genuine," Kenji said.
Pluvia looked at him, then nodded.
She took a deep breath, then shouted in a frantic tone: "What’s happening!? What’s going on!? Where is everyone? Quickly summon the Imperial Physician!"
The guards outside heard Pluvia’s shouts and rushed in. Before they entered, Kenji had carefully adjusted the door to create the impression that he and the Emperor had pushed their way in after hearing silence from within for too long.
When the guards saw Yunis’s hanging body, their faces turned ashen with fear. They hurriedly rushed over to take him down.
As for Prince Liam’s matter, Pluvia handled it afterwards.
Liam was punished with compensating the city’s civilians for their losses and placed under house arrest for three months by Pluvia’s order. This was already quite lenient - Pluvia knew full well what he had originally intended. He had been aiming for rebellion, but she really didn’t want to kill two relatives in succession.
This wouldn’t be good for herself or for Camelot as a whole. Additionally, although Liam had committed significant forces, he was ultimately an accomplice rather than the main culprit, so she only gave him some symbolic punishments.
After all, he had recognized the situation was unfavorable and provided a way out, so she had reason to spare his life.
However, Pluvia no longer trusted Liam. She simply ordered him to move to Luminara quickly, and had a sizeable mansion built for him there. Essentially, she was bringing him close to keep watch over him.
Such an unstable political enemy was safest kept nearby under observation. Primarily because Pluvia had her own troops in Luminara, so any problems could be dealt with promptly. Leaving him elsewhere would be concerning.
After finishing all this, Pluvia was exhausted in body and mind. She lay quietly on her bed.
Meanwhile, Kenji had returned to his estate. The Imperial family court wasn’t bad and convenient for work, but he still preferred his own home. Naturally, Siyue was also very happy to be back. Though living in the palace appeared grand and luxurious, compared to outside, she was ultimately more comfortable here.
"Young master has worked hard these days," said Lina as she put away Kenji’s clothes and brought the paints Siyue had requested.
"It’s fine, there are just too many trivial court matters," Kenji said with a bitter smile. "Hopefully I’ll have a chance to relax coming up."
As he said this, Kenji looked outside. Next would likely be busy with matters concerning the returning talents. According to news from the Court of State Ceremonial, those talents were already on their way back to the country, and by his calculations, should arrive in the next few days.
He would need to receive these people then.
How troublesome~
