Chapter 28 You're Gay!
Chapter 28 You're Gay!
On her way back to the office, Madeline saw the equipment department bustling with activity; it was clear that Honghe Security was about to make another big move.
The worst part is that she was completely unaware of it. Lately, she has been feeling like she's been sidelined, with pressure from both above and below her making it hard for her to breathe.
Madeline was planning how to report the matter of turning the Invisible Man into hero shards and skin shards to Floor 82, and while Homelander was out attending a fan event, she also wanted to discuss with Stan Edgar how to suppress Homelander's increasingly restless ambition.
Ring ring~
Stan Edgar had already called before I did:
"This is Stan Edgar."
Before Madeline could even speak, the other party had already assigned her a whole host of tasks:
"Coordinate the weapons and equipment needs of the Red River Security team. They need some depleted uranium munitions, and also prepare for the crisis public relations regarding the retirement of all G-Men members."
"What?"
Madeline was momentarily incredulous; these two commands were linked together, clearly indicating that Stan was about to take action against G-Men.
Moreover, unlike himself who exerts pressure through public opinion, Stan is preparing to solve the G-Men problem once and for all at the physical level.
"But I just reached an agreement with Professor G..."
By fueling the #G-Too controversy surrounding G-Men's alleged sexual assault on social media, Madeline finally managed to get Dr. G to back down, gaining the upper hand in the power struggle and forcing him to acknowledge Vought's authority over personnel appointments.
Did Stan's actions render all his previous efforts futile?!
Stan Edgar, being a contemporary of John Godotkin, naturally knew that people like them wouldn't abide by any agreements.
"Madeline, don't trust Godotkin's credibility too much. He doesn't play by the same rules as you."
Why don't you first check on the current situation of the new artist and manager you sent over a few days ago?

Gododokin Academy for Gifted Youngsters, a few days ago.
This is not the "Godogin University" that the Wotler Corporation operates, which uses Professor Gododin's name. To get into that university, all you need to do is get a good grade.
Godotkin College is a comprehensive college founded by John Godotkin, known as Professor G, who built it from scratch. In the past, those who could enter the college were all geniuses personally discovered by Professor G.
These members are almost all marginalized individuals who are not included in society, including but not limited to LGBTQ individuals, armed helicopters, Walmart shopping bags, etc., just like you, you are gay.
"Wait! I'm not gay!"
Laurie was still a little confused. She had come to find Joey, so how did she end up registering as a superhero in such a muddle?
Moreover, the person Laurie likes, Joey Joseph Kent, is obviously male, so she's definitely not gay!
"Character design! Don't you understand character design? Every hero needs to have their own character design. For example, the Nubian prince, we say he is the heir of a mysterious ancient African kingdom, but in reality he is a native-born African American, and that African accent is all an act!"
The agent that Walter assigned to Laurie was also named Ashley. Although she was short, she was one of the most capable people in Walter's field department.
At this moment, dressed in a formal business suit, she was pushing Laurie into 1407 Gremakin Road, Westchester County, New York, a luxurious estate belonging to Dr. G, which is also the location of Godokin Academy.
Because of her height difference, Ashley could only reach Laurie's shoulder when she stood on tiptoe, and the two were vastly different in strength, making her action look somewhat comical.
"Don't hesitate! The G-Men are the highest-grossing superhero group in America. Ordinary heroes wouldn't even get a chance to join!"
Professor Gododkin was standing at the front door waiting for Ashley's arrival, as well as Laurie:
"Welcome. It's been a long time since any outsiders have joined the G-Men. You're the first, and you're already sixteen, which is too old."
Laurie might not have realized what was happening yet, but Ashley clearly sensed the unwelcome tone in Professor G's words. She stepped between Laurie and Professor G and retorted sharply:
"Ever since Nubia and the Silver Maiden ran into trouble, Madeline felt that you were in dire need of manpower, which is why she sent me here."
Being mocked by such a junior made Professor G lose face somewhat. He snorted heavily and turned to leave, leaving only a tall man with thick, long hair who looked like Chewbacca from Star Wars to entertain Ashley and Laurie.
"Curly will take you to the guest rooms to rest. We are holding a memorial service today. The little girl is at the location of the G-Men. We'll discuss it again tomorrow."
"When exactly will I be able to see Joey?"
Laurie followed Ashley cautiously, glancing at Chewbacca who was leading the way, and whispered:
"And what about that Nubia and Silver Woman thing you mentioned? That old man seemed quite unhappy when he heard about it."
"Nubia is the wife of the Nubian prince I told you about before. The Silver Woman is Nubia's good friend. They were both members of the G-Men, and coincidentally, they both died recently, both by suicide—it's that simple."
Ashley's tongue-twisting rhymes, as if she were eating grapes without spitting out the skins, completely baffled Laurie, the Kansas country girl, but she still didn't forget her original purpose for coming:
"When can I see Joey?"
"No, sis! Can't you just join the G-Men properly first?"
Ashley was speechless. Was Superman someone who could just meet anyone he wanted?
Does this girl know how much a ticket to a live handshake event for the members of The Seven costs?
Although Superman doesn't interact much with fans and always has a grumpy face on camera, his handsome face is still enough to charm women of all ages, from ten to one hundred.
Many people dream, but this was the first time she had ever seen someone who could dream so vividly.
"Then let me ask you, you say you're his girlfriend, so how come you don't even have his phone number?"
"You, you, you!!!"
Laurie was speechless after hearing Ashley's question. She had been trying to get Joey's phone number for years, but to no avail. Now that this had been exposed, she could only blush with embarrassment.
"I'll get angry if you say that again!"
Ashley watched as Laurie's cheeks flushed, then quickly spread from her ears to the roots of her neck. Knowing that if she continued, the girl might really snap at her on the spot, she quickly offered a sweet reassurance:
"Alright, alright, you just stay here with me for now. Once we're officially integrated... cough cough, into the G-Men, I'll open an online application and ask you to meet Superman, okay?"
After much persuasion, the country girl was finally calmed down, and Ashley was then led to a guest room on one side of the manor.
Although Professor G was very unhappy about Vought International's placement of agents within the G-Men, he still arranged very comfortable rooms for Ashley and Laurie, leaving Ashley amazed.
"Hardwood floors, velvet curtains, mahogany furniture, oil paintings on the walls, down comforters... Professor G really does spend his money wisely, much better than the stingy Walter!"
Laurie didn't really notice this; she just thought the accommodation was pretty awesome.
Ashley sent Chewbacca away, then thoroughly searched Laurie's room, making sure there were no items that shouldn't be there, before finally letting out a sigh of relief.
Before Ashley left, she made sure to give Laurie a serious plea:
"Don't wander around at night, and don't talk to any strangers. If there's an emergency that concerns you, come find me immediately; if it doesn't, just stay home and rest."
"Okay." Laurie nodded blankly. What had happened in the past half hour was a bit too complicated for a sixteen-year-old country girl like her who was not good at socializing.
Ashley looked at the naive Laurie, and even the cunning and ruthless nature she had developed during her time at Vought International couldn't help but show a hint of affection.
"Don't be nervous, you'll soon be a member of the G-Men. This is the most lucrative G-Men team, everyone can be a millionaire, and we can both make a fortune!"
"Get some sleep, and I'll see how I handle that old man, Godotkin, when I wake up tomorrow!"
