Chapter 654 The Bridge Linking Both Worlds

"Do you want to know why I called you a pure soul even after all the things you've done to the people of your world? It is because of the intentions you had even while doing them. I've been watching you a lot over the past few years. Your proximity to Mark Vanitas and his love for you has marveled me, and I couldn't help but be curious as to why he felt such devotion to you. Arit looked up at Freya with undeniable shock in her eyes. Arit wanted to deny Freya's words once more, she wanted to say that she was not pure and she didn't deserve all that praise, but the way Freya said it and the look of pure love and acceptance in Freya's eyes told Arit that there wasn't a shred of lie in Freya's words. Freya really meant everything that she said.

Arit could only reply in one way.

Freya gave Arit another motherly smile. Freya looked off to the side curiously, and her brow suddenly furrowed as she felt something on the horizon. The pressure in the void increased for a moment, and Freya had to push her celestial powers out from her body in a small wave to reduce the pressure back to normal so that it wouldn't affect Arit.

Arit could feel the ground under her feet trembling from the pressure all around her, and it wasn't until a few seconds later that she finally felt the void calming down. Freya turned to Arit and smiled again.

"Sorry about that. A few gods were not happy about my actions towards Mark Vanitas, so I have to send you back before they get too vocal. As for the gift that I have decided to grant you, it is something simple that I hope you will make the most of. The humans and anima are moving into a different phase of their joined existence, and as I have granted Mark Vanitas the gift he would need to unite all of Gaia under one banner, I wish for you to be the lynchpin that would serve as his aid. I want you to help him understand that not all anima-kind need to be his enemy. Mark is strong-willed and fierce, so you need to keep him grounded and serve as the voice for those who cannot speak up due to the fear of his power.

Two days later, Luna, Mark, and Arit were inside a limo going towards the center of City S when Luna spoke up. Mark and Arit were on their way to Pat's hideout to meet up with the siblings. Mark wanted to talk to Pat, and since Jeanne was also going to be there, Mark saw this as an opportunity for Jeanne to have a look at Arit.

And since Luna was heading towards her agency building to talk with some of her vice-captains, she offered to give them a ride into the city.

It was Luna who had spoken up about the memorial, and Mark hummed curiously as he heard what she said. Luna heard about the memorial a few days ago from one of the high-ranking members of the government. Apparently, the government was going to use the memorial as a means of both honoring those who had died during the fight as well as to raise funds to support those who were seriously affected by the damages done by the anima.

There were also rumors that the government was just using this as an avenue to speak to some of the more powerful superhumans in a relaxed setting and one of the names that had come up a lot in the small government circle was Mark Vantias. They really wanted Mark to come to the memorial because they wanted to finally use this opportunity to speak to him both about his guild as well as his plans moving forward.

Mark had already guessed that the government would be doing this largely because they wanted to have a talk with him, so once he heard what they were planning, he just chuckled as he realized that the government would never change. They would even use the deaths of their own citizens as a political ploy.

"Do you want to go?"

Arit asked Mark this question as she reached towards the fridge in the limo for a bottle of water.
