Chapter 644 Peace Pact
Chapter 644 Peace Pact
Slowly, almost unnoticeably, Mark began to see a change in the room's atmosphere. The tense, violent aura that had once been present was slowly starting to bleed away and give way to a more platonic and neutral aura that could only have been born from mutual respect.
The more senseless requests from both sides had already been scrapped out from the documents, so there were only more sensible requests to be considered now, and everyone was starting to see that these requests were things that could be easily fulfilled if they only made a bit of a compromise.
They were still shouting at each other and talking rudely, but they were no longer refuting all of each other's claims anymore.
But what really made things change completely was when the new leader of the werewolves made a joke about the cicada jelly that the angels were asking the demons to deliver to them and how the succubi would no longer be able to use it to please their customers if the angels took them all.
It was such a dirty and raunchy joke that most of the angels blushed once they heard it, but there was one person who didn't blush at all.@@@@
King Richard put his hands up to his mouth the moment he heard the joke, and the next moment, he burst out in uncontrollable laughter that made everyone in the room turn to him. The laughter was so innocent and childlike that they couldn't help but stare in wonder as they heard it, and the fact that it was brought about by such a tasteless joke only served to make the entire situation even more humorous, and before long, every single person in the room had started to laugh as well.
Mark chuckled in amusement and leaned back as he watched what was going on between them all.
Arit had also started to chuckle from beside him, and Mark sighed internally as the group slowly eased out from their amusement and got serious once more. But this time, Mark could almost sense a sort of closeness between some of them. The most obvious indication was how the new leader of the werewolves had started talking more to the child king. Ever since the king laughed at that joke, the leader of the werewolves no longer sneered at him or disregarded his words completely. He listened and gave his opinions about what the child king was saying, and if the werewolf did not agree, he just refused whatever the king said calmly.
Mark thanked Sozin that they were no longer at each other's throats, and as things went on, the first draft of the agreement between the two races started to take form.

Mark turned around as he heard someone calling his name, and he hummed curiously as he saw Hunn standing there. Hunn had shed his usual armor, and he was now in regular clothing that made him look far less threatening than before. There was tiredness in his eyes that showed just how drained he was, and Mark could definitely relate. Mark was sure that he had the same look in his eyes. No one would be able to keep up appearances after staying awake for seventy-two hours straight.
"I wanted to thank you, Mark Vanitas."
Mark raised a brow at Hunn's words before he spoke.
"For what?"
"For giving us a chance to have peace."
Hunn looked out into the blue ocean for a moment before returning to Mark and continuing.
"I still do not appreciate what you did to my people. Thousands died at your hand, and many of my friends and subordinates were among them. But regardless of the method you used, I cannot deny that the results speak for themselves. We are only standing here today because of your actions, so I find it necessary to thank you for what you did. You might not have been the demon lord we were hoping for, but I am certain that you are the demon lord we needed the most."
A strange feeling bubbled up from inside Mark after hearing everything that Hunn had to say, and it was only after a few seconds that Mark recognized it as happiness. Mark was happy that someone appreciated what he had done for them.
