Chapter 557: Talking Over A Drink
Chapter 557: Talking Over A Drink
Mark was sitting on the edge of a large bed in one of the rooms in Luna’s mansion, calmly glancing through his system functions. Luna and Arit were sleeping on either side of him.@@@@
The entire day had been mentally exhausting for Mark during the rescue operations. It didn’t take long after Mark showed up at City A for the rescue operations for reporters and helicopters to arrive on the scene. They were all trying their best to get interviews and videos of Mark, and Mark had to leave after a few hours because it was preventing the rescue efforts from moving forward properly.
There were so many reporters swarming the area that the superhumans couldn’t even find space to move anymore. Mark’s reluctance to give a proper interview and his apparent lack of interest in television or public appearances left the reporters with little choice but to show up anywhere people even whispered GHOST’s name in the hope of catching him. Mark knew this would go on for a while, but eventually, it would die down.
Well, at least Mark hoped it would die down.
Mark just had to persevere.
Mark left Talia in Arit’s care and prepared to take off toward Pat’s hideout to check up on him. Mark couldn’t deal with this madness. But before Mark could even leave to meet up with Pat, he ran into Ida and her group of German soldiers who had helped out in the battle against the Armageddon.
Mark was surprised to see her, but Ida greeted Mark with an enthusiasm that almost made them seem like friends.
"Mark Vanitas! I knew I only had to follow those reports, and I would find you! You are a very popular man, aren’t you? I can hear people calling you the God Killer. You Americans and your nicknames are something I could never understand. But I have to admit this one is very impressive!"
Mark raised a brow at her and asked what she was doing there. Mark didn’t think there was anything left unfinished between the both of them, so she had to be here for something personal. Ida grinned coyly and stepped closer to Mark until their chest were almost pressed together, and Mark could sense a pair of eyes staring at them from a distance with a bloodlust that was directed straight at Ida.
He immediately knew it was Arit, and Mark sighed before putting a hand on Ida’s shoulder to prevent her from getting any closer.
"That’s enough playing around. What do you want? There’s somewhere I have to be."
Ida’s grin widened as she put her hand on top of the one holding her shoulder and whispered.
"Have you thought about my offer? Let us go and get a drink together. You must’ve heard good things about us Germans and our drinks. They are the best you will ever have. I can show you a good time... in more ways than one."
Mark shook his head as he took his hand away from Ida’s shoulder. Ida tried to hold onto Mark’s hand so that he wouldn’t pull it away, but Mark easily slipped out of her grip without even trying. Ida frowned, and Mark sighed.
"Look, I don’t know what you’re playing at here, but I’m not interested. Find someone else to play this game with."
"You’re in a what!?"
Pat almost spat his drink out when Mark told him about his new relationship status with both Arit and Luna. Pat just stared at Mark in shock, wondering what the fuck Mark was talking about, and it wasn’t until Mark said he wasn’t joking that Pat finally cursed and gave Mark the middle finger.
Mark was in a relationship with a bombshell like Arit, and now he was also in a relationship with the most beautiful woman in America, at only eighteen years old!? There wasn’t a single man alive who wouldn’t be jealous!
Even though Pat had a mild dislike for 3D girls, and he knew that he didn’t want to be in a relationship with either Arit or Luna, he still felt that primal urge to curse angrily at Mark for his apparent fortune.
"Tch, people like you are the reason people like me find it hard to enter the real world! Your normie energy is fucking scary, you bastard! But just be careful with sister-in-law. Don’t forget how volatile she is. Even though she seems normal now, she is still part anima. Don’t do anything that will make her fly off and start killing people in jealousy."
Pat was worried that Arit might become unstable or jealous due to the relationship she was now in. Arit was already unstable enough as it was without adding another person to the raltaionship, and Pat still remembered how Arit reacted when Esmeralda tried to take Mark away from her. That was a period Pat did not like thinking back on.
Now, Arit was practically sharing Mark, and Pat knew there was no way that wouldn’t affect her somehow.
Mark spoke up.
"Actually, Arit was the one who suggested this."
Pat’s eyes widened, and he dropped the can of beer and put both hands to his face before finally chuckling in shocked amusement.
"Okay, I did not expect that. I didn’t know sister-in-law was wild like that. Is this some sort of bi thing?"
Mark chuckled and shook his head.
"Nah, it isn’t like that either. I don’t really know why she did it, but I think she did it for me. She could tell I liked Luna, and since they were friends, things just worked out somehow after they spoke about it."
Pat picked up the can of beer as he tried to understand how a relationship like this would even work. He knew this wasn’t the first relationship where people shared their partners, but most of those relationships only worked so well because the people kept their lives private and did whatever they wanted without involving anyone else. Mark wasn’t a normal person.
With how popular Mark was, Pat knew the entire world would know about Mark’s relationship before the week was over. That would be a social nightmare. News outlets and journalists would swarm all three of them, and the moment Mark refused to give an interview, they would rush toward Arit and Luna like a tsunami!
