Chapter 34 All cat owners are idiots

Chapter 34 All cat owners are idiots

"What's that guy doing here?"

Chen Rang was somewhat puzzled.

He followed Grandpa Yin to the stairwell next to the cat cafe and glanced at the dark stairwell leading to the second floor.

The buildings in this alley are basically all in this style. The staircases are built in separate corridors, so that the first floor serves as the entrance while not affecting the movement of people upstairs.

Like Chen Rang's family and Aunt Xie's family, their stairwells and corridors didn't even have an extra door. But not far away, Uncle Yang's family and the family above the teahouse had an iron door at the stairwell exit, which offered better security and privacy.

This is probably the difference that comes with having a son or a daughter in the family.

Chen Rang thought to himself, feeling somewhat bored.

He coughed but couldn't turn on the stairwell light. He looked up and shone his phone on it, only to find the incandescent light bulb above him was gone. It was likely the same trick the two thieves had used. Chen Rang decided to go to the police station tomorrow to report this loss.

"Meow?"

Grandpa Yin peeked out from the side of the first-floor staircase and whispered a puzzled urging to Chen Rang.

Chen Rang glared at it irritably.

"Shut up! It's a mess in here, I can't just crawl in like you do."

As he spoke, he carefully moved a rusty bicycle blocking his way to the side, but the rust on his hands left him speechless. Seeing the black ash clinging to Eunuch Yin's body, and remembering that an ancestor had crawled inside, he felt even more desperate.

As expected, you just can't keep a cat!

Once again reaffirming his resolve and vowing never to be tempted by these little succubi again, Chen Rang moved aside a snakeskin bag containing an unknown amount of stuff before finally approaching the storage space behind the stairs.

He peeked inside but didn't see the little rascal. He called out "Mimi Mimi" twice more, but the little rascal still wouldn't appear, which made him somewhat desperate.

It's filthy inside, are we really going to crawl in?

"Aww!"

Grandpa Yin poked his head out from the gap in the clutter, staring at Chen Rang and urging him on.

Its fur was a mess from being wiped by all sorts of dirty things, and there was even a spider web with a small spider hanging from its tail, making Chen Rang's mouth twitch.

But at least the guy's efforts weren't in vain, because soon the pitiful cries of little Mankikang came from deep within the pile of junk.

Chen Rang vaguely heard some other noises, but after waiting for a while, he still didn't see the little guy come out. On the contrary, Grandpa Yin was busy going in and out several times, and his body was getting dirtier and dirtier, which made Chen Rang more and more desperate.

Glancing at his slightly dirty clothes, he convinced himself that it didn't matter since the clothes were already dirty, and reluctantly lowered his head to crawl into the passageway.

"What a hassle!"

The various odds and ends around your feet are very inconvenient, making it difficult to walk, and the low and narrow space also makes it easy to bump your head.

While complaining, Chen Rang hunched over and squeezed through the dirty walls on both sides, finally finding his target behind a cardboard box.

Silver Grandpa squatted on the ground with an innocent look on his face. His body looked as if he had been entangled by a spider demon, with clumps of spider webs and tiny things stuck to them everywhere.

Beside it was another little rascal who was causing it trouble.

Little Mankikang was in a position with one hind leg raised high, his whole body trapped on a barbed wire fence, looking at him with innocent eyes.

Whether by coincidence or because the little rascal was courting death, a sturdy wire hooked out of the tattered barbed wire happened to pass through the bandage Chen Rang had used to bandage its wound, firmly tethering it to the barbed wire and rendering it unable to move.

It already had short legs and feet, so while other cats might be able to shake their legs and struggle in this situation, this one couldn't even move.

Chen Rang didn't know whether to laugh or cry; he really hadn't expected this little Mankikang to be so unlucky.

Of course, it brought this on itself; why did it have to go to such a horrible place?

What annoyed him even more was that the little rascal had burrowed quite deep. He would have to crawl all the way down to the very back of the stairs to get the guy and rescue him from this hellhole.

"Awoo~"

Seeing Chen Rang struggling to squeeze inside, Silver Grandpa quickly cheered him on. Feeling that Chen Rang was working too hard, it even came over and rubbed against him to express its support.

Chen Rang squinted at it, not in the mood to scold it.

He had to hold his phone in one hand and struggle with the other to fasten the wire around the little troublemaker's neck. It took a lot of effort to finally pull the bandage off.

When he slowly and carefully backed out with the little troublemaker in his arms, he turned around and saw that Grandpa Yin was still squatting in the same spot! This guy seemed to be waiting for Chen Rang to hug him, looking up with an expectant expression, and he didn't move at all.

"You come out here yourself!"

Chen Rang chuckled and cursed in an annoyed tone.

"Awoo~"

Just then, DouDou appeared in the stairwell, squatting at the doorway and watching Chen Rang's bottom. It seemed a little envious of Chen Rang's affection for Little Mankikang, and stood up, eager to try and squeeze inside, wanting to join in the fun.

"Get out of here, don't give me more work!"

Chen Rang gently kicked it away.

This little rascal wasn't here before, but now he's causing trouble. What else could he be but a brat? Seeing the big blue cat trying to squeeze in as well, Chen Rang quickly crawled out using both hands and feet, then kicked each of them, chasing them all out.

Upon seeing this, Grandpa Yin immediately chickened out and ran away without looking back.

"..."

Looking at these four troublemakers, Chen Rang felt utterly exhausted.

The thought that it was already past midnight and he wouldn't be able to sleep even if he went back, as he would have to bathe and dry the two little bastards filled him with despair.

Sure enough, all cat owners are idiots!

People like him who keep several cats are the absolute worst kind of idiots!

Feeling depressed, Chen Rang didn't mind cursing himself as well. Because he couldn't feel better without venting; he genuinely regretted adopting these kids. Why had he softened his heart that day? Who would have thought these little rascals would cause him so much trouble these past few days!

He shooed the four cats back to the clinic with a mix of scolding and threats, then opened the door and let them inside. Before he could catch his breath, Chen Rang heard the voice of another troublemaker.

The Ragdoll cat, which was in a state of addiction, had finally calmed down after being exhausted from its antics; but it didn't expect to see Chen Rang appear again, and with a sudden glimmer of hope, it started howling in a heart-wrenching way once more.

Chen Rang really wanted to stuff a cotton ball into his ears.

There's no way I'll compromise with this guy; no matter how pitiful he cries, I won't give him any treats.

For its health, it has no choice but to eat cat food even when it's very hungry, otherwise it will just go hungry. There's no other option but to break this bad habit.

Chen checked the cat's recovery and then turned away, ignoring it completely.

The next step is to give the two cats a bath.

Silver Grandpa was alright, since he didn't have any injuries. We just combed out the spider webs, rinsed and rubbed him with water, and tossed him into the drying box, and that was it.

The most troublesome one is little Mankik.

The wound on this guy's hind leg hadn't healed yet, and it had even reopened a little because of what happened tonight. Giving it a bath right away was definitely not an option, so Chen Rang could only change its dressing and then gently wipe it with a damp towel.

After wiping it clean, the drying oven couldn't be used. He could only use paper towels to absorb the water little by little, and then slowly sift out the lint from its body. Especially that big face plate that was covered in black ash, Chen Rang spent a long time cleaning it with wet paper towels.

He didn't leave Silver Grandpa in the drying oven for too long, because it's bad for cats if they're dried for too long. After about ten minutes, when he felt it was no longer moist to the touch, he took it out.

Finally, I wiped DouDou and the big blue cat down as well. Thankfully, those two rascals didn't run away and I didn't need to chase or catch them. Then, I turned around and went upstairs with the four of them in my arms.

As for the rag doll's wailing, just pretend you didn't hear it!

Back in his room, Chen Rang felt utterly exhausted. He hadn't felt it while serving those four bastards, but now his back was throbbing with pain. He quickly changed his clothes, took a shower, and when he saw it was two o'clock, he hurried to bed.

My lower back and back hurt, and I can't sleep comfortably whether I'm lying flat on my back or on my side. After tossing and turning, I reluctantly choose to sleep on my stomach, but I still can't fall asleep right away.

He was half asleep, drowsy and confused, when he vaguely felt a little rascal jump onto the bed. He didn't have the energy to chase him away. He closed his eyes and buried his head in the pillow, vaguely feeling the bed being stepped on, and then something soft pressed against his waist.

Soon another one was attached to the right side, warm and still a little bouncy.

Before he knew it, the bedding had warmed up, and he felt inexplicably more comfortable. Chen Rang didn't bother to comment, yawned, and fell asleep.
