Chapter 457 : Ocean Origin
Chapter 457 : Ocean Origin
“Crashhh—”At the moment when Hephis-Stellar announced the end of class, the sound of pages flipping echoed once more. Soon after, Janna, who had been inside the [Book World], returned to the [Material Plane] and opened her eyes in her new dormitory.
“The flow of time in the outside world really did slow down—”
Looking at the owl-shaped Mechanical Clock hanging on the wall, which showed that less than ten minutes had passed, a hint of joy flashed across Janna’s eyes.
“Today’s only class was 《Law and Plane Studies》—so now I suddenly have quite a lot of free time.”
Since it was the very first day of classes, the White Tower had not yet assigned this batch of new apprentices a full curriculum, leaving Janna with a whole day to spend as she wished.
“Still, even though the flow of time in the [Book World] slowed down, the mental fatigue remains.”
Even if less than ten minutes had passed outside, the nearly three hours of lessons inside the [Book World] still left Janna with a sense of exhaustion on the mental level.
And this kind of fatigue could only truly be relieved through proper rest in the outside world.
“System, open the Character Panel.”
Following Janna’s command, a detailed panel containing her personal information appeared before her eyes.
【Name: Janna Roland

Looking at the ever-growing entries on her Character Panel, Janna’s gaze quickly locked onto the line labeled [Plane Domain].
“As expected, a new entry has appeared. But… does the System really not know the original name of this [Fallen Star]?”
From her previous experience with a daily quest about “purchasing the Verdant Wand,” Janna had always believed that the System was an all-knowing existence.
After all, that wand was something even the shop clerk didn’t know the name of, and yet the System had precisely marked it as the “Verdant Wand” and issued her a quest.
“Or perhaps the reason the System cannot identify this [Fallen Star]’s past name is because, in ‘its’ cognition, there is also no information about this [Fallen Star]—”
Through several experiences of “Dream Entry,” Janna had already learned that the System originated from the shattered fragments of Ivrecia’s Authority.
Thus, Janna had always suspected that everything the System rewarded her with had once belonged to Ivrecia.
Just like the rewards such as [Insights into the Law of Purification] and [Insights into the Law of Growth], they were, in fact, Ivrecia’s own understandings.
And the various attribute points granted to her—such as [Constitution], [Charisma], [Spirit Power], and [Comprehension]—were more like enhancements to the qualities that the fragments of Authority found her innately adept at, rather than random gifts.
After all, most of the attribute points Janna gained from daily quests were usually in [Spirit Power], [Charisma], [Comprehension], and [Constitution]. In contrast, attributes where she was naturally weaker, like [Strength] and [Agility], only increased occasionally.
“Since it’s still in an unnamed state, I’ll just give you a name myself.”
With that thought, Janna closed her eyes once more and sank her awareness into her Sea of Spirit, arriving at the side of her Witch Tree.
“There you are.”
By now, Janna’s Witch Tree could only be described as lush and flourishing.
In addition to the many leaves representing the spells she had mastered, there were also fruits: a silver fruit, shining like a star, that represented [Spirit Phase Travel]; a pale green fruit, brimming with vitality, that represented [Plant Affinity]; and beneath those, a smaller emerald-like fruit that represented her deepest comprehension so far—the [Law of Growth Fragment].
Below these three fruits, three flower buds also grew—each representing a [Law of Purification Fragment], a [Law of Beauty Fragment], and a [Law of Withering Fragment], each with their own distinct color.
But at this moment, Janna’s awareness was not focused on these fruits and buds. Instead, her sight rested on the gray star that hovered above the crown of the Witch Tree.
“So this is my [Fallen Star]…”
In truth, describing it as gray was somewhat misleading. More accurately, Janna’s Fallen Star was primarily blue, with intermingled shades of yellow and white.
The reason it looked gray was that, due to the absence of the [Plane Will] and the heavy pollution, the entire star had been shrouded in a layer of deathly gray mist, making it appear ashen and lifeless.
After observing her [Fallen Star], Janna extended a tendril of consciousness to connect with it.
And at the very instant her awareness reestablished contact with the [Fallen Star], she could distinctly feel the joyful emotions emanating from the [Law Consciousness Group].
“We meet again.”
Sensing the emotions of the [Law Consciousness Group], Janna politely returned the greeting. At the same time, she immersed her consciousness entirely into the [Fallen Star].
“Hisss—”
Although she had already prepared herself mentally, Janna still could not help but draw a sharp breath at the sight before her.
“[Fallen Star]—a fallen star indeed. No wonder wizards call them that.”
Where her awareness descended was into an endless ocean.
Yet unlike other oceans with their surging waves, this sea had no ripples—not even a single crest of foam.
Instead, the surface was thickly covered with masses of dark green algae, and from beyond the algae, occasional gusts carried the stench of rot.
“The principle of ocean waves lies in the driving force of wind, as well as tidal changes in water level. But because the [Origin of Wind] and [Origin of Tides]—the [Laws] themselves—are missing, this sea has completely become a Dead Sea.”
Furthermore, due to the [Law] pollution of the Outer Gods, even the [Ocean Origin] here was on the verge of exhaustion.
The only reason this [Ocean Origin] could hold out until now was entirely thanks to the algae floating upon its surface…
