Reincarnated With The Degenerate System

Chapter 272: For the Sake of the Future 1

Chapter 272: For the Sake of the Future 1

A month passed since I integrated myself into this place, and my power also grew after joining the hunting team and eating aliens. The effect was not as strong as my system, but I made up for it with quantity.

Right now, I was already around low S Rank in my old world, at least in terms of strength and speed.

Of course, I only showed a small part of my power to others, but it was already enough to earn their respect.

My relationship with Mira also became official, and almost immediately Harrison arranged our wedding, fearing I might change my mind.

It was clear he stayed wary of me. He likely thought I would betray him and take the position of authority for myself, like some degenerate, greedy bastard.

He wasn’t wrong, so when the idea of marriage came up, I pushed a hard bargain.

"You want to marry all my granddaughters?" he asked again, as if he hadn’t heard me the first time.

"Yes, and I am also talking about those who already have fiancées."

"That’s outrageous!" He slammed the table. "I already promised their hands to my allies. You do realize we are not the only faction in this city."

"I know that. Right now, there are four major group, and the one with the most second phasers is led by a former military general."

"So you know that? And yet you ask for something so unreasonable."

"Yes."

"Why?" His face had already turned red from frustration.

"Because it doesn’t sit well with me. If they have second phasers, it’s better they hand them over so I can train them. You saw how much our military power improved when I took charge, right?"

He nodded, though reluctance showed in his face.

"But that still doesn’t explain why you want all my granddaughters... Some of them are even un—"

"Hey, don’t finish that word. It makes me sound like the bad guy. I only want those who can give their consent, specifically the six of them."

I paused making sure that he doesn’t misunderstood my request.

"And as for why I want them, it leans more toward our future."

"What do you mean?"

"Think about it. Even if our military capability is improving, we are still badly outnumbered. It will take years before we can even start pushing forward. So it’s better to have a plan B—and that is for me to impregnate women and pass on my DNA."

Harrison stared at me, his mouth half open, like his mind refused to catch up.

"...Your plan B is to start a family of super powered" He rubbed his face in disbelief.

"Yeah." I nodded seriously. But that was a lie of course.

I had no plan to stay in this world for more than a year. I only wanted the girls.

Finding ones who were still clean, untouched, and somewhat innocent had become rare because of the apocalypse.

If they were compared to commodity , they were like superyachts from my old world—costing hundreds of millions, owned only by a tiny fraction at the very top.

"Leon, please stop joking around." He leaned back. My over-the-top explanation eased his nerve, just as I intended.

"I’m not joking. Isn’t this good for you too? Think about it. If we bring all the factions together, you gain access to their resources." I paused, then added,

"I looked into it. You’re still paying others for fresh water, and that’s not a good position to be in."

He let out a defeated sigh.

"I’m already aware of that. But starting a civil war would do us more harm.

What if they bomb the water reservoir? Our whole underground network would collapse in under a month."

"Don’t worry." I leaned in. "I already have a plan, and you breaking the engagement with that old, rotten general is actually part of it."

"You expect me to just trust everything to you?"

"No," I shook my head. "I expect you to trust my power."

I raised my hand and clenched it. The Qi inside erupted, spilling out in a violent explosion.

White and blue aura spread around me, twisting and drifting like smoke in the air.

But I was not done yet. I took a deep breath and steadied my Qi. Slowly, I shaped the aura instead of letting it scatter.

The white and blue energy shifted, folding inward. It wrapped around my body layer by layer, tightening like it was being forged.

In moments, it formed an armor over me, glowing faintly as it settled into place.

"This is Third Phase. The next level."

His eyes locked on the energy armor, not blinking for a moment.

"...Third Phase?" he repeated.

"Yeah. After reaching the peak of Second Phase, one can harness the energy around them and use it to form an armor that even bullets cannot pierce." I explained, continuing to feed him more nonsense.

What this really was, was my lazy attempt to mimic my Shadow Veil skill using Qi.

"Harrison... no, Father." I made sure my voice carried respect.

"You don’t have to fear anything. Your son-in-law is unmatched in this place. Think about how much more prosperous you could become."

His eyes flickered at the possibility, so I added another layer.

"And think about the future. My children—your future great-grandchildren—will rule this place once we free ourselves from the invaders."

THUD!

He stood up from the table, all smiles now. "Alright, I agree with your decision. You can marry off all my remaining single granddaughters!"

Finally, I managed to fool this old man. Did he really think I would settle for just the single ones?

But for now, this would suffice.

As for wanting to absorb the other factions, that part was true.

Having already gone through a world war in my previous simulation, I understood the value of numbers when breaking enemy lines.

Even with my Qi, I would still be at a clear disadvantage if I ended up exhausted from fighting alone.
