Chapter 44 Another Complete Victory
Chapter 44 Another Complete Victory
Jiang Yan dried his hands, turned around, and went back to his room.
The light pink gift bag Tiffany gave him was still sitting in the corner of his desk. He hadn't just taken it out; rather, he felt that taking it out in front of the two of them might not end well.
He shook his head, then pulled out a sticky note from the drawer, wrote a few words on it, stuck it on the inside of the bag, and then carried the bag out of the room.
Kim Minjung was changing her shoes in the entryway when Kang Yeon walked over and handed her a bag. "Here, this is for you. A senior colleague at the company heard that you joined SM Entertainment and specially prepared this for you. See if you like it."
Kim Minjung took the bag with a blank expression, subconsciously looked down and flipped through it. His eyes lit up when he saw the knee pads, and he exclaimed "Wow!" when he saw the throat-soothing tea bags in the bear-shaped packaging. Finally, he picked up the headphones and looked at them over and over again.
She looked up, her eyes sparkling: "Oppa, these headphones are much better than my old ones. My old ones always had a bad connection, and they would go silent if I moved while practicing dancing."
"That's perfect, let's use the new one."
Kim Minjung carefully put the earphones back in the bag, then put on his shoes and stood up. "Oppa, is this senior also a girl?"
"Don't worry about that, both boys and girls are seniors."
Hearing this perfunctory answer, Kim Minjung pouted in dissatisfaction, looked at the pink bag, and muttered to himself: "Hmph, it must be a girl. What boy would give a bag like this?"
She subconsciously turned around and glanced at the kitchen doorway.
The tap in the kitchen was still running, and Choi Sulli, with her back to them, was completely unaware of what was happening.
Kim Minjung turned around, hugged the gift bag to his chest, and unconsciously pursed his lips.
Jinri unnie is a nona, so the person who sent this must also be a nona. How many nonas does oppa actually know in SM?
Moreover, it seems that each of them is quite nice to Oppa. Jinri unnie goes without saying, as they have a bond from when they were children. But why is that unnie who I've never met also so nice to Oppa?
She looked down at the light pink bag in her arms. Everything inside was very useful to her. The person who picked out these things must be a very thoughtful person and must be very familiar with Oppa, otherwise they wouldn't have taken care of someone as unfamiliar as her.
Kim Minjung hugged the bag tighter, his lips moved as if he wanted to say thank you to that senior for me, but he swallowed the words back and changed it to: "Oppa, when I come next week, should I bring a gift for that unnie as a return gift?"
Jiang Yan thought for a moment and said, "No need, she's been very busy lately. I'll pass on the message for you later."
"Oh." Kim Minjung nodded.
As expected of a girl, she had just called him "unnie" and Oppa hadn't refuted her. She couldn't understand it. Back in Busan, she had never heard of Oppa being so popular with girls. How come she became like this after coming to Seoul?
Kim Minjung shook his head, suppressing these chaotic little thoughts, and when he looked up, his face was once again adorned with that obedient smile: "Oppa, let's go."
The two stood in the entryway. Jiang Yan picked up Kim Minjung's backpack and called out towards the kitchen, "Jinri, let's go."
Choi Sulli's voice drifted from the kitchen, mingling with the sound of running water: "Okay, be careful on the road."
As soon as she finished speaking, she peeked halfway out of the kitchen doorway, still holding a bowl in her hand. Her gaze passed over Jiang Yan and landed on Jin Minzheng, her eyes darting around.
"Minjung ah."
"Huh?" Kim Minjung turned around upon hearing this.
"After you leave, can I go to your room to take a look?" Choi Sulli tilted her head, probing and coaxing, "Don't worry, unnie will just look, I won't touch anything."
Jiang Yan almost burst out laughing when he heard this. Goodness, she actually asked the person directly. Just how curious is this Noona about Minjung's room?
Upon hearing this, Kim Minjung bit her lower lip, caught in the typical dilemma of a fifteen-year-old girl.
To be honest, she hesitated a little.
It's not that she's stingy, it's just that Oppa decorated that room for her, and he personally picked out everything in it.
That room was the first real little world that belonged to her after arriving in Seoul, a little world given to her by her oppa.
She was somewhat reluctant to let others in.
But if she doesn't agree, won't Mari think she's being unreasonable?
She just gave her such a beautiful dolphin necklace, treated her to gummy candies, and told her to come to her if she had any difficulties at work.
Choi Sulli took in all the wonderful changes in the little girl's expression.
From hesitation to entanglement, from entanglement to dilemma, those round eyes would look at Jiang Yan one moment, then at the floor the next, and then steal a glance at her again.
She couldn't help but chuckle to herself, her eyes darting around before she composed herself, adopting a sour tone, sighing, lowering her eyes, and idly tracing the door frame with her foam-covered fingers, her voice filled with unspeakable resentment.
"Minjung, you don't know, your oppa has never bought you anything before, so you're quite curious about what he's bought for you."
Upon hearing these words, Kim Minjung's hesitant expression vanished instantly.
She looked up at Choi Sulli, a gleam of smugness flashing in her dark eyes, and said crisply, "Of course you can! Jinri unnie can go see it anytime. It's full of things Oppa bought!"
The last sentence was spoken with particular force, like a declaration or a boast.
Sulli's smile froze for less than a fraction of a second before widening even further. She raised her water-dampened finger and gave Kim Minjung a thumbs-up: "Okay, then unnie won't be polite."
Jiang Yan looked at the thumbs-up and felt it was aimed at him, but he didn't have time to think about it. He raised his hand and gently patted Kim Minjung on the back of the head: "Alright, stop showing off. If we don't leave now, we'll miss the bus."
Kim Minjung rubbed the back of his head, waved to Choi Sulli, and his voice returned to its previous sweet and clear tone: "Jinri unnie, bye-bye! See you next week!"
Bye-bye, drive safely.
Jiang Yan opened the door, stepped aside to let Jin Minzheng go out first, and glanced back at Cui Xueli as she closed the door.
Then the door clicked shut, and Choi Sulli listened to the footsteps, one light and one heavy, in the hallway growing fainter and fainter until they were completely gone before turning on the tap to continue washing the dishes.
After rinsing the last dish clean and putting it in the drainer, she wiped the stove, took off her apron and hung it on the hook, dried her hands, picked up the orange juice on the table and took a sip. Her gaze unconsciously drifted toward the door at the end of the corridor.
She walked over with her cup, stood at the door, and stared at the sticker for a while.
