190: Celibacy?
190: Celibacy?
Elara had erased every trace of our contact. Nothing was linking her to me. If she were to deny ever meeting me right now, Carlson would have no ground to question her. Not without proper evidence anyway. But I had a feeling she wouldn’t. She wouldn’t deny us meeting. There were many small reasons for that, but a major reason was only one.
Me.
If not her, then Carlson would come for me. She could resist Carlson. I couldn’t.
It was obvious what my fate would be if I were caught lying, and as Valeria said, I was needed right now, by both of them, so Elara wouldn’t risk putting me at Carlson’s mercy.
Just like so, Carlson wouldn’t kill me either, but there would be restrictions imposed on me, which would be troublesome for Elara.
One could ask whether Carlson would restrict me if Elara admitted to contacting me.
Well, no, he wouldn’t. Not as long as he saw any improvements. And Elara had taken care of just that.
“Where is he?” Carlson finally asked once he was rendered speechless by Elara.
“I have entrusted him with a task. He was useless in other ways, so why not use him for something else?” Elara said.
“Something else?” Carlson asked, his tone slightly stern.
“I heard the queen is looking to vent her anger on someone. The boy is useless anyway; might as well gift him to her for some… anger release.” Elara paused to give it a dramatic effect.
Carlson remained silent. As if he was convinced. As if the queen really was looking for someone to beat up to release her anger.
Was she? I didn’t think so, but it was possible.
Why didn’t I think it was possible, you ask?
Well, that was simply because of Elara’s reaction to the pure mana I had injected into her the other day.
Damn, just remembering the other day, the muscular GILF rendered powerless on top of me for just a short while, was turning me on beyond belief.
Thank goodness the state of completion wasn’t on. Otherwise, I would be pitching a massive tent by now.
“I shall arrange another commoner for you to take to the queen. Leave the boy.” Carlson said with no apparent emotion in his tone, as if he was trying to relay that he didn’t really care.
He was giving the impression that it wasn’t about me, but about Elara not having her way. It was a good strategy, but alas, it was useless in front of that GILF.
“That would be impossible, husband. I have already created a false identity to sneak him into the palace, and also given his portrait, along with mine and Valeria's, to let the palace know who is coming to this banquet. Bringing someone else would just be a hassle. I hope you understand.” Elara said, with the same emotionless tone as if it didn’t concern her.
“…”
Carlson was once again silent. From this conversation so far, it was clear to him that Elara had not noticed my ability to empower a woman yet. Carlson couldn’t just come out and say it either. And if he insisted a lot, he risked Elara asking a question he couldn’t answer. The question about why I was so important.
With that in mind, there was nothing he could do. All he could do was remain silent and sigh, “Just try to bring him back in one piece. He’s Zara’s favorite toy, too.”
“Do not worry. The queen relayed to me that she has prepared a Cardinal-level priest. It will be like he was never touched when he returns.” Elara replied.
Carlson shook his head as if pitying me inside and replied, “I shall take my leave then. Where is he? I would like to meet him.”
“After the banquet, husband.” Elara simply, but flatly said, straight up refusing his offer.
“…” Once again, all he could do was reply with silence and leave, not even asking about Catherine or the rest.
As soon as he was gone, Elara turned to Valeria and said, “Deploy the shadows. Take care of Jack’s brother. He must not meet my husband even by chance.”
“There is a dungeon two days from here. Lady Catherine is leaving in a few cycles to train. He can accompany her.” Valeria stoically replied.
“Good.” Elara simply said and turned to me, waving her hand and dispelling the amazing spell that even I couldn’t think of, but certainly was inspiring.
The only issue was downgrading it to my level because I didn’t have enough mana to cast it as is, since it was classified as a ninth-circle spell.
“I reckon you’re smart enough to understand that conversation,” Elara said, completely looking past my dumb and nervous act. Even if she didn’t, she still deemed me smart, along with a coward.
No reason to let her think otherwise.
“A-am I… really going to be beat—” I began to ask, but I wasn’t able to complete my question when Elara interrupted, “No. It’s just a cover. It’s the queen’s cover. Everything will be clear on the day of the banquet. Until then, however, you are not to meet anyone. You will be staying there.”
She pointed to the room that Valeria and Mira used to enter and leave this room, the one that was connected to another room.
I nodded and replied, “Certainly, my lady.”
I was hoping for some sex, but I couldn’t just ask for it, unless she was the one who allowed it so. And she wasn’t the one I could just fool into it either. Getting on her bad side was an instant way of having my head blown.
“I shall have your family be aware so they don’t worry. And don’t worry about your brother either. He will be taken care of well.” Elara said before she waved her hand, and the door opened, which was my signal to leave.
I left and entered the other room, which was just as luxurious as the room in which Elara resided. There were three beds in the room, two of them probably for Elara’s maids, but I didn’t know whose the last one was.
Well, at least the two days I’ll be spending here won’t be so boring. Maybe not Elara, but Valeria and Mira would be at my disposal to have fun.
These two days wouldn’t be so boring after all.
~~
They were boring. They were extremely boring.
I had forgotten. Elara was hiding everything from Carlson. That meant her newly awakened maids as well. The rude maid came to the room a few times to give me food, but she didn’t wait long enough for me to do something fun to her.
Just a few touches here and there, but nothing past that. Two days passed just like that in torture, with me being able to do nothing.
I could only sigh and meditate for these two days.
While I was in my peak condition, and the situation in my inventory had been taken care of, the useless stuff was sold off, keeping the useless stuff for either forging, alchemy, or absorption, and discarding the rest through the shop’s sell function.
I had about ten million coins in the shop, enough to buy a mass teleportation one-time spell, but since I couldn’t leave the room, and I didn’t know where my family was, I was unable to attach the arrays to them.
Each spell can carry up to ten people, so if a situation like where I couldn’t deal with anything ever came, I would have a backup in my arsenal.
But for that, I had to survive this banquet.
And that was where we were right now.
In a carriage so luxurious that it was made of gold. Literal gold, not messing around. With the insignia of the Carlson house etched on it, there was no doubting or stopping our ride.
“You shall be Valeria’s grandson. Who is under training to serve my granddaughter, Lira, in the future?” Elara said, giving me a piece of paper with my name, mana signature, and every detail needed written on it.
I hadn’t even told her these things. Especially not my mana signature. She was like one of those scary AIs that knew your information even without you ever telling them.
“Your name is Eric. Eric Lancaster. Understood?” Elara asked.
“Understood, my lady,” I replied.
“Good. Now, as I have told you before, you must stay with Valeria throughout the banquet. Attendants are sometimes taken to another place than the lords. Remain with her, and make sure not to cause any trouble.” Elara instructed.
“Understood, my lady,” I replied with an obedient tone and expression on my face.
“And after that, we would have an audience with the queen. Follow my directives.” Elara said.
“Yes, my lady,” I replied.
“Good.” She replied before she asked, after a deliberate pause, “On that note, how is your ability? I’m sure not doing anything for the past two days would have saved a lot.”
And now was the time to play.

I come with an apology and some bad news. The reason I was absent last week was that the government employment exam datesheet dropped on Monday, putting me in crisis mode to cram as much as I could.
I wrote whatever little I could during that time, and here it is. Eight chapters were all I could do, and I edited them yesterday, well, today in the middle of the night.
Anyway, the first exam is a little less than six hours away, and the exam duration is two weeks, with breaks in the middle, but I doubt I'll have enough time to make uploads. So, for the next two weeks, I'll be absent again. But don't worry, I'll fulfil my quota after returning. Whether by three chapters a day for a week, or two chapters for two weeks.
In the meantime, I'll work on Zara and Cassandra's artwork, which reminds me that Rayla, Sandra, and Martha's new artwork is done and uploaded to my Patreon. You're welcome if you want to see.
Thanks for listening, and so sorry for doing this again and again, but that's just life. Can't stop it for this novel. Hope you guys don't mind.
