My Favorite Game Followed Me!

Chapter 856

Chapter 856

Paul and Eric were not particularly serious about memorizing the cantrip spells they had purchased from Anton. Successfully memorizing them would allow them to become mages, but that process was not considered important for joining one of the magical organizations in Izmorta. The only reasons their fathers allowed them to continue were that the family had not spent any money on the spells—which would normally have cost a considerable sum—and that, with so much time to spend aboard the ship , it was good for young men like Paul and Eric to have something productive to occupy their minds.

Since the two young men devoted little time to studying the spells, it would likely take them a long time to become mages. The reason for this was that none of them, including Anton, knew whether being a mage would provide any advantage when applying to the magical organizations in Izmorta.

One would assume that magical aptitude was an important criterion, but Paul's father had told him of cases where untalented individuals were accepted while people known to possess exceptional magical talent were rejected. Even the fat merchant Anton had spoken to at the beginning of the journey had said the same thing.

Because of this, Anton had become somewhat doubtful about whether he would be accepted despite the prodigious talent granted to him by his Diablo System.

The only reason he remained confident was that he knew, for a fact, that his Diablo System seemed to exist along a separate pathway within his mind, distinct from the pathway used by the world's standard magic.

Because of that, even if the so-called Rebirth process employed by the magical organizations of Izmorta stripped him of the spells he had memorized and even his wizard rank, the magical attainments granted by his Diablo System would likely remain untouched.

It was almost as though two minds existed within him, running parallel to each other. One was dedicated to his Diablo System, while the other handled the world's standard magic. He theorized that the mind connected to the Diablo System was his own, while the one associated with standard magic belonged to the original Anton, whose body Anthony Saunders had inherited.

The fortunate part was that his own mind helped the other mind increase its wizard rank through the benefits provided by the Diablo System.

Anton also believed that, if the other mind were somehow destroyed, he would not be affected too severely. The only consequence he could imagine was losing access to the world's standard magic. That would be disappointing, as he had not yet fully explored the true potential of the magic practiced in this world.

Of course, those thoughts only concerned the worst-case scenario. More than likely, nothing of the sort would happen. If people were regularly losing their minds during the so-called Rebirth process, rumors of such incidents would have spread long ago.

The only information available was that once a person was accepted into one of the magical organizations in Izmorta, they would undergo the Rebirth process and officially become members. There were no reports of anyone dying or becoming mentally impaired as a result.

Anton wondered what kind of magical system the wizards of Izmorta practiced. Was it fundamentally different from the standard magic used by ordinary wizards? Whatever the answer, it only made him more intrigued and excited. He could hardly wait to reach Izmorta and begin his new adventure.

He only hoped that the system they practiced would help him achieve his goal of becoming a multidimensional adventurer, assuming such a thing truly existed. In fact, "multidimensional adventurer" was simply the term he had coined for individuals capable of traveling between dimensions.

His expectations were high because rumors were widespread regarding the ability of Izmorta's wizards to travel across different dimensions.

In the end, there was nothing he could do to prepare himself further. With nearly a year of travel still ahead before reaching the continent of Izmorta, Anton decided it was perfectly acceptable to spend his time as an idle and wealthy young wizard whose primary goal was enjoyment.

He did not even need to pay Paul and Eric directly. The only expenses he covered were the costs of their outings, such as meals at expensive restaurants and admission to various entertainment venues, including theaters, clubs, dance halls, brothels, and other establishments. Casinos, however, were an exception. Anton made it clear that if either of them wanted to gamble, they would pay for it themselves.

He had already given the two young men more than twenty cantrip spellbooks. They only needed to sell them to friends, acquaintances, or even other merchants. Whatever profit they made would be theirs to keep, serving as payment for their services as guides.

At first, Anton had intended to befriend Paul and Eric's fathers because he believed the two older men would be able to answer his questions regarding Izmorta. Eventually, however, he realized he could simply ask Paul or Eric. If they did not know the answer, they could always ask their families.

Over the next several days, Anton spent his time exploring both the Noble Section and the Middle Section alongside Paul and Eric. He spent a considerable amount of money, and before long, the three of them became well known as wealthy and idle young men whose primary objective was to seek out the finest entertainment available aboard the .

At the very least, even though many people viewed them as carefree youths, everyone understood that they avoided anything that could harm their bodies. This was expected, as it was common knowledge that most young people traveling to Izmorta hoped to enter one of its magical organizations. A body damaged by foolish indulgences such as drugs or excessive alcohol would be a guaranteed way to ruin those prospects.

Even their visits to brothels were rare. During the weeks Anton had spent aboard the , he had entered a brothel only once and had avoided them ever since. He found the experience somewhat distasteful. Despite his raging hormones, the thought of sharing a bed with someone who had shared hers with countless other passengers left him uncomfortable.

After five days, Anton informed Paul and Eric that he needed two or three days to himself once again. It was time to meet his father and sister in the world of Diablo II.

On the fifth day after his last meeting with Anders and Anna, Anton created a game through the Multiplayer option and discovered that both his father and sister were already waiting in the lobby for his invitation. He immediately invited them. During their previous gathering, they had agreed to meet again after five days rather than waiting until the end of the month.

Anton knew that both his father and sister were eager to hunt for powerful items, and the thought amused him. There was something satisfying about seeing Anders and Anna become just as addicted to his favorite game as he was.

As usual, once they entered the game, they spent their first hour simply talking. Since only five days had passed since their previous meeting, there was not much to discuss.

The only update Anton had was that nothing had changed on his end. Both Anders and Anna had expected as much. After all, he was aboard a ship, and unless something significant happened, life would remain largely unchanged as the vessel continued its journey toward the continent of Izmorta.

Anna, however, had accomplished something during those five days. She had entered the dungeon alone and discovered that the twentieth floor of the Corridors of Amuneta was the ideal place to level her Sorceress class. Her multiplayer Paladin, already above level seventy and equipped with respectable gear, allowed her to clear the floor safely and efficiently without requiring assistance.
