Chapter 14 How could there be a second one?
Chapter 14 How could there be a second one?
"What should we do? He still won't tell us."
Cliff punched the thug hard in the face and said with great dissatisfaction.
He and Emily took turns questioning her, but she remained silent and refused to reveal any information.
"How about this," Qin Wuying said, walking towards the bandits. "Let's exchange information."
"Exchange information?" The bandit raised his already wounded eyebrows, seemingly showing some interest.
"Good. Tell me who the spy for Stark Security is, and I'll tell you a secret about the weaknesses of mages."
Upon hearing this, Cliff and Emily cast complicated glances at Qin Wuying.
They initially thought Qin Wuying was a spy for Kamar-Taj, but now it seems he might not be.
However, if that's the case, Qin Wuying would be too unrighteous.
Even if Kamar-Taj kicked him out, it was because he broke the rules first.
But now he's about to trade away someone else's secrets.
No wonder Boss Rhodes doesn't trust Qin Wuying.
"Hurry up and decide, to exchange or not?"
After a moment of contemplation, the bandit squeezed out two words through gritted teeth: "Okay."
"Well then, I'll go first." Qin Wuying glanced at Cliff and Emily beside her.
It's okay to tell them this so-called secret about weaknesses.
Qin Wuying pulled a small, dark stone from his pants pocket; it looked like it had been through an explosion or burning.
"This is a magic-suppressing stone. If you use it to lock a mage's hands, their magic will be rendered useless."
The bandit nodded thoughtfully.
"Now it's your turn." Qin Wuying used his magic to conjure an energy sword and held it against the bandit's neck. "Let's make it clear beforehand, I have lie detector magic."
"I'll talk, I'll talk!" the bandit hurriedly replied.
"It's one of the high-ranking members within your security department. That's all I can say."
"Oh? Very good, very good." Qin Wuying's face darkened.
Then a flash of cold light appeared, and the bandit's head tilted to one side, lifeless.
"This...? How did you get killed?"
Cliff was somewhat taken aback. Hadn't they just agreed to make a deal? How could they turn their backs so suddenly?
"Have I broken my promise? I've already given him the information. But I never said there was any additional clause in the deal that would allow him to go."
Qin Wuying sheathed his energy sword, and his gloomy expression returned to a relaxed one.
And so, in front of the two agents, Qin Wuying exchanged information that was of no value to them for clues about the mole—
At the same time, he did not let the bandits go, preventing information about the anti-magic stone from leaking out.
After dealing with the bandits, the atmosphere among the three became somewhat awkward.
After all, not long ago, Cliff and Emily were thinking of executing Qin Wuying on the spot.
"Can you tell me the truth now?"
"What's the truth?" Emily straightened her somewhat damaged exoskeleton.
"Is this mission solely to get rid of me?"
"That's not quite it," Cliff chimed in. "Boss Rhodes said there really is something here."
Their eyes were fixed on a hidden door disguised as a cave wall.
There are three such hidden doors in total.
There was no light before, and it was impossible to see anything in the dim light. That's when the Ten Commandments members came out from these hidden doors and surrounded them.
"Your guns are out of ammunition and useless. Stand behind me."
Qin Wuying stood before the hidden door, gently turning the handle with his magic. Just as it was fully turned—
With a loud "bang!", the hidden door was kicked open.
There's another password door inside.
However, physical protection is a piece of cake for mages.
Qin Wuying activated his magic power and broke the lock in no time.
Then, the three of them stared at the scene before them, so shocked that they were speechless for several minutes.
Behind the hidden door was a state-of-the-art research lab, filled with holographic screens and unused equipment.
"Can you imagine? An organization like the Ten Commandments has such advanced technology."
Emily picked up a few research records at random, and was very curious about their contents.
"What's unimaginable?" In contrast, Qin Wuying quickly sorted out her thoughts.
"What, it seems our sage has some deductions?"
"Hmm, pretty much it," Qin Wuying paused, "These technologies were all sold by Stark Industries to the Ten Rings."
"That's true." Cliff found many technical agreements signed by Stark personnel in the documents on the other side.
If it were a company led by Tony Stark, then arms sales and underground transactions would have been stopped long ago.
But now the head of the group is Lar Stark, someone Qin Wuying has absolutely no recollection of.
Moreover, given the two agents' tight-lipped attitude, it's uncertain whether Tony Stark is still alive.
"Take some documents and equipment back with you and have the research department examine them."
As he spoke, Cliff smashed the glass of a display stand and pulled out the robotic arm inside.
The design of that robotic arm has many similarities to the exoskeletons worn by secret agents.
Fortunately, the materials and technology are expensive; otherwise, if this thing were mass-produced, the consequences would be unimaginable.
In addition, the discovery of traces of the Stark Group in this research lab has brought forth a completely new point of suspicion.
"Why do you think the Ten Commandments attacked you?"
Qin Wuying posed a very serious question to Cliff and Emily.
The Ten Rings should know very well that if they attack Stark Industries' security agents, they will never be able to do business with Stark Industries again.
"Maybe it's because they've gone mad?" Cliff scratched his head.
"What? You're so simple-minded," Emily scolded playfully.
As an organization of a certain size and with specific goals, the Ten Commandments Gang will never easily give up the opportunity to acquire advanced technology.
unless--
"Unless they have completely mastered Stark's technology on their own."
Just as the two agents were completely baffled, Qin Wuying discovered a hidden button on the control panel.
He had a premonition that pressing this button would summon something that would overturn the world's understanding.
"Beep—beep beep beep."
A dull bell rang, and a glass box rose from under the floor in the center of the room.
Inside the glass case is a round, three-dimensional piece of equipment.
The center of this equipment emits a light and radiation from a special element.
Cliff and Emily had no idea what it was.
However, Qin Wuying, as a time traveler, knew it very well.
Qin Wuying slowly walked towards the glass box, pressed her face against it, and observed it carefully.
He absolutely cannot be mistaken about this thing—
"How...how could there be a second one?"
