Chapter 17 The Worst Bamboo Mushroom in History

Chapter 17 The Worst Bamboo Mushroom in History

The next day, just as dawn was breaking, Ark was awakened by Ralts.

"Raru!" (Get up, the sun's already high in the sky!)

ark:?

Reversing the Heavenly Stems.

The day before yesterday, when I woke it up to go fishing, it looked very reluctant. But today, when we were going up the mountain, it turned out to be the one waking me up.

"Ralts, going up the mountain is really tough."

"Ralts~" Ralts patted its little chest to indicate that it understood.

The thought of its bunch of spiky bug minions and the gorgeous clothes it might get in the future filled it with motivation.

Make sure to harvest heart-shaped mulberry leaves to help improve the quality of the silkworm silk for the stinging crickets!

After washing up and having breakfast, Ralts excitedly carried a small bamboo basket on its back, while Ark carried a large one.

West Mountain is not far from Fangzhou's manor, only a dozen minutes away. As they got closer, Fangzhou saw several snake-striped bears running past, which must live on West Mountain.

Arriving at the foot of the mountain, I looked up.

The mountain is not steep or precipitous; the entire mountain is covered with lush green canopies, and the varying shades of green exude vitality.

The air was exceptionally pure, with a very high oxygen content, and every breath carried the unique crispness of the mountains.

Although the lichens were causing trouble on the mountain, many villagers still risked their lives to climb up the mountain and create a winding path leading to the summit, thanks to the many rare plants there.

Ark and Laluras walked up the mountain path, where a few acorns hung quietly on the lower branches, swaying gently in the breeze.

The weather is nice today; the forecast says it will be mostly cloudy.

It won't rain. Going up the mountain on a rainy day is still very dangerous because the mountain path is muddy.

"Wait a minute, Ralts." Ark suddenly called out to Ralts and walked to a place overgrown with weeds by the roadside.

Parting the weeds revealed a hidden plant that looked somewhat like a strawberry, but was deep purple and had thorns on its stem.

Before coming, Ark had done his research. This plant is called purple raspberry, and it is a rare plant. Eating it can reduce the probability of confusion attacks.

It has the same effects as the fruit that grows on trees.

"Ralts?" Ralts tilted its head, curiously examining the purplish-red berries.

"You can eat it, have a taste." Fang Zhou handed one over, then popped it into his own mouth. After chewing it a couple of times, a sweet and sour taste spread through his mouth, like a mixture of dragon fruit and apple.

[Gathering Experience +1]

"Ralu!" Ralulas' eyes curved into crescents. It really liked the taste and picked all the raspberries, putting them into the little basket on its back.

As he walked, Fangzhou observed his surroundings and tossed any useful plants he found into his basket to boost his gathering experience.

This mountain is truly a treasure trove.

It's called a mountain, but it's really just a small hill.

After walking for more than an hour, Fangzhou estimated that they had reached the central area.

According to Dr. Oda Birch, the heart-shaped mulberry should grow in the center of the mountain, like sunlight, and should be in a relatively conspicuous place.

Fangzhou took a mulberry leaf out of his pocket and handed it to Ralts.

Ralts waved its hand, indicating that this was for the thorntail, and it didn't like to eat it.

"It's not for you to eat," Fangzhou said with a smile, patting its little head. "It's for you to help find these leaves."

It can fly high and see far, and finding things is its forte.

Ralts scratched the back of its head sheepishly, then straightened its chest, took the mulberry leaf, and closed its eyes.

A faint blue light emanated from its body, spreading outwards like ripples on water.

Is this a search using superpowers?

Fangzhou understood. With the help of the parsnip, Ralts had become increasingly adept at using its psychic powers these past few days.

But a moment later, Ralts suddenly opened her eyes and let out a terrified scream.

"Ralu!"

not good!

Something's coming this way!

A kilometer away, a straw mushroom was running towards this side, followed by more than a dozen other mushrooms!

Mushroom is very angry! Someone has come up the mountain!

Enemy attack! Enemy attack!

Bulbous-shroom, attack!

……

"Quick! Come over here! The Hathorn is coming!"

Just as Fangzhou was hesitating about where to hide, a boy's voice suddenly rang out.

Fangzhou looked in the direction of the sound and found that it came from a stone platform protruding from the rock wall next to him.

A head with blue hair peeked out from the edge of the stone platform and waved anxiously at them.

There was no time to think; the behavior of Ralts and the boy indicated that danger was imminent.

Fangzhou quickly ran towards the rock wall, stretched out his fingers to grip the cracks in the rocks, and began to climb up.

Ralts floated in mid-air, pulling on Ark's collar. The boy reached out and grabbed Ark's clothes, and together they pulled upwards with all their might.

Finally, just as Fangzhou was scrambling up the stone platform, a group of dark figures appeared in the distance.

Leading the pack is a kangaroo-like Pokémon—Foom!

It came rushing towards us at an astonishing speed, reaching us in just a few minutes.

The mushroom looked around. Nobody there?

I sniffed the ground carefully, and sure enough, there was a human scent.

strangeness.

"Click click click!" The straw mushroom gave an order to its companions around it.

Immediately, the mushrooms scattered and searched everywhere.

Fangzhou and the boy both covered their mouths, too scared to even breathe.

Seeing that the mushroom was walking towards them step by step, it would definitely spot the humans if it took a few more steps.

Ralts gripped Ark's clothes tightly, when suddenly a lightbulb went off above her head.

They've got a solution!

His eyes glowed blue, and his superpowers activated!

Immediately afterwards, a large tree not far away began to shake violently.

The sudden commotion immediately attracted all the mushrooms.

They quickly surrounded the tree.

There's something in the tree!

"Click!"

Come out now! We know you're up there!

After waiting for a while and seeing no movement, the mushrooms began to rhythmically bump against the tree trunk.

At that moment, the rustling of the leaves stopped abruptly, and everything returned to silence, as if nothing had happened.

A knowing glint flashed in the eyes of the straw mushroom.

Hmph, trying to play dead and get away with it?

late!

"Click-clack!"

The surrounding mushrooms immediately moved aside to make way.

The mushroom took a few steps back, then suddenly exerted force with its legs, performing a rapid running start and a jump!

Eh hey!

In an instant, the lithe figure climbed up the branch!

However... the tree was empty.

They ran away?!

Just as Breloom was stunned, Ralts activated its psychic power again.

Whoosh!

A large clump of leaves suddenly shot out from the other side of the tree canopy, flying in the opposite direction!

With a roar, the lizard mushroom immediately led the mushrooms in pursuit of the direction the leaves had flown away!

"They're finally gone. Come with me quickly, they'll be back soon."

The boy beside him lowered his voice, grabbed Fangzhou's arm and jumped down, then ran towards the mountaintop, the direction from which the straw mushroom had come.

"I know a safe place."

They jogged all the way and hid in a small cave hidden by dense bushes, where the two leaned against the stone wall and gasped for breath.

The boy, having caught his breath, extended his hand to Fang Zhou with a friendly smile. "Hello, my name is Mikoli. I'm here on the mountain to gather inspiration and learn. What's your name? What brings you up here too?"
