Chapter 200: Prelude To The Great Flood 2

Tower of Babel

As they ascended the Tower’s spiraling staircases and winding corridors, they saw a blend of technology and magic became even more pronounced. Automated mechanisms whirred and clicked with mechanical precision, powered by ancient enchantments that imbued them with a life of their own.

Glowing crystals, pulsating with energy, adorned the walls, their radiant light casting intricate patterns across the chamber. Arcane sigils, intricately carved into the stone, pulsed with a faint, otherworldly glow, their purpose shrouded in mystery.

At the heart of the Tower, a chamber of breathtaking beauty awaited, its walls lined with shimmering portals that shimmered with iridescent hues. Each portal served as a gateway to realms unknown, bridging the gap between the mortal world and the realms of magic and mystery.

The air was thick with the scent of incense and ozone, a heady mixture that filled the chamber with an otherworldly atmosphere. And at the center of it all, a towering pillar of light rose, reaching toward the heavens with an almost palpable sense of power and purpose.

"They actually completed it," said Alaric, his voice tinged with awe as he and Mabel reached the heart of the Tower.

"Yeah, but it is missing a power source," Mabel replied, her keen eyes scanning the intricate mechanisms and arcane symbols that adorned the chamber. "Without it, this Tower is pretty much useless."

Alaric nodded, his gaze fixed on the towering pillar of light at the chamber’s center. "It’s a marvel of craftsmanship, both technological and magical," he mused. "But what kind of power source would be needed to activate something of this magnitude?"

Mabel stepped closer to one of the shimmering portals, her fingers tracing the glowing edges. "Something incredibly powerful and stable. The kind of energy that can sustain both the technological systems and the magical enchantments."

Alaric frowned, deep in thought. "The builders must have had some idea of this. But their work was halted not by any attack but by a strange miscommunication. The sudden inability to understand each other... it’s as if something or someone didn’t want this Tower completed."

"That’s what you get for trying to come at my wife," said the werewolf as he shifted back to his human form.

The werewolf was none other than Seth, brother of Cain and also his archenemy.

"Seth are you alright?" Said a woman running towards Seth.

As Seth shifted back to his human form, the moonlight cast an ethereal glow upon him, illuminating his features as he stood amidst the aftermath of the fierce battle. His chest heaved with exertion, and his muscles tensed with the lingering adrenaline of combat.

A woman ran towards him and called out him, her concern etched deeply into her features as she approached Seth. Her eyes scanned him anxiously, taking in the dirt and blood that marred his once pristine appearance.

Seth turned to face her, a weary but reassuring smile spreading across his lips. "I’m fine, Lydia," he replied, his voice steady despite the fatigue that weighed heavily upon him.

Lydia reached him in quick strides, her hands moving instinctively to inspect his wounds. Her touch was gentle yet firm, her fingers tracing the lines of his injuries with practiced care.

"You were reckless out there," she chided softly, her concern evident in her voice. "You could have been seriously hurt, or worse."

Seth’s smile widened slightly at her words, his gaze meeting hers with a mixture of gratitude and affection. "I had to protect you," he explained simply, his tone earnest. "I couldn’t let that giant harm you."

Lydia’s expression softened at his words, her worry momentarily replaced by a sense of warmth and understanding. "I know," she murmured, her voice soft with emotion. "But you don’t have to face these dangers alone. We’re in this together, Seth."

Seth’s heart swelled with love and gratitude towards Lydia as he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a tender embrace. In that moment, amidst the chaos and uncertainty of their world, he found solace in her presence, a beacon of light in the darkness.
