Tony circled the enormous model again and again, disassembling every part to study every tiny line and every piece of plastic that held it together. But the result was disheartening. There was nothing there. It was just an exquisitely detailed model of a distant city, nothing more.
An overwhelming sense of defeat overwhelmed him like icy seawater. He plopped down on the ground, grabbed a bottle of chlorophyll juice, and gulped it down like strong liquor. His throat was filled with that nauseating, grassy taste.
Just then, his phone, which he had casually tossed on the table, rang. It was an unfamiliar, encrypted number.
"Who is it?" he answered irritably, his voice filled with suppressed anger.
"Looks like you haven't found the right approach yet." Chu Hang's signature lazy voice came from the other end of the phone. "Mr. Shit, sometimes, the map itself isn't the most important thing. The shape of the map is where the treasure lies."
After saying that, the phone was hung up. The dial tone sounded particularly jarring in the quiet studio.
The shape of the map...
Tony froze. He suddenly looked up, his tired eyes now fixed on the huge model he had dismantled.
His brilliant mind began to operate at an unprecedented and terrifying speed.
"Jarvis, generate a 3D model for me!"
"Received, sir!"
The layout of those buildings, the outline of the park, the direction of the roads... they were instantly stripped away, reassembled, and connected in his field of vision... lines danced in the air, nodes automatically aligned, and a brand new, stable atomic structure diagram slowly emerged in his eyes.
"My God..." Tony muttered to himself, his eyes blazing with a blinding elation. "So that's how it is... so that's how it is! Old man, you're a true genius!"
He leaped to his feet like a madman and stumbled toward his workbench. He was going to bring this structure to life!
Meanwhile, in Stark Industries' boardroom, the atmosphere was as tense as the calm before a storm.
Obadiah Stanislav sat at the head of the table, his signature bald head gleaming coldly under the bright conference room lights. His gaze, like that of a shark poised to devour its prey, slowly swept over each of the board members present.
"Gentlemen," he began in a heavy, almost scathing tone, "I think you've all seen how badly the company's stock has plummeted since Tony made that stupid decision. And now, some nobody has come along and taken advantage of the situation, becoming our major shareholder. If we don't act now, Stark Industries will be destroyed in our hands!"
A bloated board member immediately chimed in, "Obadiah is right! We must remove Tony from his CEO position and reopen the weapons division! That's our foundation! Military orders are the real money!"
"We have to find a way to kick that Anthony Chen out! He's a guy of unknown origin, who knows what he's up to!"
The conference room erupted into chaos, with everyone pointing the finger at the absent Tony and the mysterious Chu Hang.
Just then, the heavy doors to the conference room were silently pushed open.
Chu Hang, dressed in a well-tailored suit, walked in with an innocent smile on his face. He was alone, without any assistants or lawyers, as if he were attending a relaxed afternoon tea party.
"Hello everyone, I'm Anthony. Looks like I missed a great opening." He walked straight to the head of the table, pulled out an empty chair next to Obadiah, sat down, and calmly surveyed the room. "Gentlemen, you're all quite hot-tempered."
“Anthony Chen!” Obadiah slammed his hand on the table, making a dull thud. “You’re not welcome here!”
“Mr. Obadiah, please calm down.”
Chu Hang tapped his fingers lightly on the smooth tabletop, making a few crisp "tap, tap" sounds. The sound was not loud, but it miraculously suppressed all the noise in the conference room.
"I am the company's second-largest shareholder, and according to the company's articles of association, I have the right to attend any board meeting. Or would you like my legal team to discuss company law with you?"
Obadiah was speechless after hearing his words, his face turning a deep purplish-red, and he could only glare at him fiercely.
"I know what you're all worried about." Chu Hang surveyed the crowd, his tone calm yet carrying an undeniable authority. "Worried about the stock price, worried about profits, worried about the future of Stark Industries. Shutting down the weapons division was indeed a risky move. But gentlemen, times have changed."
He snapped his fingers.
The projection screen at the far end of the conference room lit up silently, displaying the title of a document: "Project Ark".
Over the next hour, Chu Hang showed these old guys, whose minds were only filled with arms, orders, and profit reports, a magnificent future they had never imagined.
after an hour...
"Very good." Chu Hang put down his water glass and slowly stood up. "Since everyone has no objections, the Ark Project will officially commence today. I will personally serve as the project's chief coordinator. Meeting adjourned."
After saying that, he didn't even glance at Obadiah again and walked straight out of the conference room.
A few days later, in the basement of the villa in Malibu.
After a violent tremor, a blue energy beam, thicker and purer than ever before, shot into the sky, piercing through the specially designed ceiling of the studio and soaring into the clouds.
Tony Stark stood in front of the makeshift particle accelerator, carefully holding a brand-new triangular reactor that emitted a pure blue light.
He rushed to the mirror and ripped open his shirt. The sight of the black lines on his chest fading rapidly, visible to the naked eye, filled him with ecstasy. He could clearly feel a power, more surging and stable than ever before, coursing through his body.
He couldn't help but burst into laughter, his laughter filled with the ecstasy of surviving a disaster and the pride of being reborn.
"I am back!"
The studio door opened, and Chu Hang walked in carrying a bottle of 82 Romanée-Conti, as if he had timed it perfectly.
“Congratulations, Tony.” He swirled the bottle in his hand. “Looks like you’ve found the inheritance your father left you.”
"You knew all along, didn't you?" Tony looked at him, his eyes filled with complex emotions. This man always seemed to be one step ahead of him.
“All I know is that like father, like son.” Chu Hang skillfully pulled out the cork and poured a glass for each of them. “A toast to a great father and a genius who has been given a new life.”
The two clinked glasses and drank it all in one gulp. The spicy liquor slid down their throats, bringing a pleasant warmth.
"How are you feeling?" Chu Hang asked.
“It’s better than ever before.” Tony stretched his body, feeling the surging power brought by the new elements, his face filled with barely suppressed excitement. “I’ve already designed Mark 4, a brand new energy core, brand new materials, and a brand new system. It will be perfect.”
"Then I congratulate you in advance!"
Just then, a uniquely shaped satellite phone in his pocket suddenly rang.
This was the private line he left for Nick Fury. If it rang, it meant something serious had happened.
Chu Hang answered the phone.
“Anthony,” Fury’s voice was heavier and more urgent than ever before, “something’s happened. A big problem, a green one. Now, it might become two.”
On the other end of the phone, a loud roar and explosion could be faintly heard, and the signal became intermittent, filled with electrical static.
"Location." Chu Hang's voice turned cold.
"Harlem District, near Culver University."
"understood."
Chu Hang hung up the phone and glanced back at Tony, who was looking at him with a puzzled expression.
"It seems your new battle armor will soon have the opportunity to undergo real-world testing."
He grinned, revealing a row of pearly white teeth. "However, this opponent might be a bit too advanced."
Chapter 84 The Invincible Hulk
Tony was completely confused by Chu Hang's words.
Chu Hang didn't turn around, just waved his hand and walked towards the door, saying in a casual, almost perfunctory tone, "Literal meaning. A big green guy with a bad temper, and a big red guy with an even worse temper and bones sticking out. They're causing trouble in downtown New York City."
He opened the studio door, his figure disappeared at the doorway, leaving only one sentence floating back.
"You'd better hurry up with your new armor, Tony. Otherwise, you won't get to experience this kind of fun next time."
The words were barely out of his mouth when he vanished.
Tony stood frozen in place, staring at the empty doorway, then looked down at the masterpiece in his hand that represented the pinnacle of human energy technology, his brows furrowing deeply.
A big green thing?
He vaguely recalled some scattered records in the military archives about a scientist named Bruce Banner and the failed gamma-ray experiment.
“Jarvis,” he suddenly said.
"At your service, sir."
"Connect me to Colonel Rhodes' encrypted line. Also, accelerate the Mark 4 assembly process to the highest priority." Tony's eyes gleamed with a complex light, a mixture of curiosity, competitiveness, and fervor. "Looks like I'll have to go to New York to join the fun."
Harlem, New York.
This is no longer the neighborhood filled with hip-hop music, street graffiti, and vibrant life. This is hell.
The air was filled with the pungent smell of gunpowder, concrete dust, and a faint odor of blood.
On the street, two giants were wreaking havoc.
One was a giant, entirely emerald green. Every punch he threw, every leap he made, carried earth-shattering power. The ground beneath his feet shattered like fragile biscuits, and cars were as easily crushed as soda cans in his hands—this was the Hulk.
His opponent, on the other hand, was even more ferocious and terrifying in appearance. His red skin was as tough as rock, and his entire body was covered with jagged bone spurs, especially along his spine, where thick bones pierced through his body, forming a natural and awe-inspiring armor of bones.
He is "Abomination," a monster mutated from soldier Emil Bronsky after he mixed Super Soldier Serum and Hulk blood.
Abomination grabbed a bus and slammed it down on Hulk like a baseball. Hulk roared, bracing himself against the massive steel monster with his bare arms, the ground beneath his feet instantly caved in, creating a deep crater.
In the sky, several armed helicopters circled, their Vulcan cannons spitting out long tongues of fire, and a dense storm of bullets rained down on the two giants.
However, these bullets, which could easily tear apart armored vehicles, only sent up a series of harmless sparks when they hit them, unable to even pierce their skin.
"The target has not suffered any substantial damage! Repeat, the target is invulnerable!"
"Fire! Keep firing! Don't let him get near the residential areas!"
Inside the helicopter, General Ross's roar echoed across the entire battlefield via radio.
His eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at the green figure on the screen, completely ignoring the abomination that was causing even greater casualties.
In his eyes, Hulk was the prey he had been hunting all his life, and military property he had to reclaim.
Just then, the pilot of one of the helicopters suddenly screamed in terror.
"what is that?!"
In the night sky, a figure appeared silently beside them in a way that completely defied the laws of physics.
The man stood there, seemingly out of nowhere, with thousands of feet in the air. He was only wearing a casual suit, and not a single hair of his was disturbed by the high-altitude airflow.
He glanced at the hellish city below, then at the helicopter beside him that was firing wildly at Hulk, and shook his head slightly.
"It's noisy."
He extended a finger and gently tapped the helicopter's rotor.
No sound, no light effects.
But the helicopter pilot and General Ross witnessed a scene on the screen that they would never forget. The high-speed spinning propeller, powerful enough to grind a person into mincemeat, caused the surrounding space to be eerily distorted, as if gripped by an invisible hand.
The propellers' rotation speed dropped to zero in an instant, and the entire helicopter, like a stone, lost all power and plummeted straight down.
"No-No-No!" the driver cried out in despair.
Chu Hang snapped his fingers.
