He looked down and was horrified to find that his body was turning into the smallest particles, starting from his fingertips, and silently dissipating.
The strong interaction forces that constitute his body were forcibly shut down.
[The Law of Force - Collapse]
"Do not--!"
He tried to shout, but no sound came out. Then, along with his armor and the warhammer in his hand, he completely disintegrated, turning into a handful of cosmic dust.
He died. He died silently, without leaving a single intact cell.
With Ronan's death, the entire Kree fleet seemed to have lost control and descended into chaos.
Chu Hang didn't make another move. The rest was enough for the New Star Legion.
He returned to the command center, where Irani Rael and everyone in the Guardians of the Galaxy looked at him as if he were a god.
"Now, let's talk about the safekeeping of this stone," Chu Hang said to Irani as he put the Power Gem back into his spirit orb.
Irani took a deep breath and bowed deeply to Chu Hang.
“Your Excellency, Xandar thanks you for saving it. We… are incapable of safeguarding it,” she said bitterly. “But we beg you to leave it here for now. We need to study its power, advance our technology, and prepare for Thanos’s next attack. In exchange, all of Xandar’s technological databases and all the cosmic star maps we have explored are open to you.”
Chu Hang thought for a moment. Thanos wouldn't come back for the Power Stone for many years to come. Letting them study it wouldn't hurt.
“Okay.” He nodded. “Three years. I’ll come back to collect it in three years.”
"Thank you, Your Excellency!"
A few days later, the Milan was repaired and set sail again.
Chu Hang sat in the cabin, eyes closed, absorbing the vast amount of scientific and technological knowledge of Xandar and comprehending the fusion of the two laws of space and power within his body.
The spaceship traveled smoothly through the sea of stars, making one space jump after another.
Just after another jump, a strange thing appeared in front of the spaceship.
That wasn't a spaceship; it looked like a giant, living planet with eyes.
A gentle voice came through the spaceship's communication system.
“Peter Quill, my child, I have been looking for you for a long time.”
Chapter 117 Planetary Life - God Ego
A gentle yet magnetic voice suddenly rang out on the Milan's communication channel.
“Peter Quill, my child, I have been looking for you for a long time.”
The cockpit fell into a deathly silence.
Rocket's ears twitched, his face filled with disbelief. Gamora frowned, her eyes full of wariness. Drax stroked his bald head, seemingly pondering the meaning of those words.
Peter Quill froze, staring blankly at the enormous, incredible sight outside the porthole.
That was a planet.
A...living planet.
Its surface was a deep blue, like a flowing ocean, but a huge human face was clearly visible on it. The face wore a gentle smile, and its eyes shone with a soft light as it gazed at their small spaceship.
"What...what the hell is this?" Rocket was the first to break the silence. He jumped onto the control panel and pointed outside. "A talking planet? The latest cosmic hoax?"
“I am Groot.” Groot waved the twig.
"That's right, this is ridiculous!"
Quill ignored the Rockets' commotion. He stared intently at that face, his lips trembling slightly. That voice, that feeling, touched a chord deep within him.
"Who...who are you?" he asked into the communicator, his voice hoarse.
“I am Igor, Peter. I am your father.”
The word exploded in Quill's mind like a bomb. He had never had a father; before her death, his mother had always told him that his father was a being of light from the stars. He had always thought it was just a fairy tale his mother told him to comfort him.
But now, a living planet claims to be his father.
This is even more outrageous than a fairy tale.
Just then, an elegantly designed spaceship, resembling a white flower petal, slowly approached from in front of the planet and stopped beside the Milan.
“Come up, my child. Let’s have a good talk,” Igor’s voice rang out again.
Quill seemed to be bewitched, and instinctively wanted to pilot his spaceship closer.
"Wait!" Gamora grabbed his hand. "Don't you think this is too strange? A father who suddenly appeared? Or a planet?"
“But he… he knows my name.” Quill’s eyes were complicated, filled with suspicion and wariness, but more than anything, they held a longing that he himself did not want to admit.
Chu Hang remained silent.
He leaned against the bulkhead, gazing intently at the planet outside. His energy perception told him that the life energy contained within this planet was vast as the ocean and terrifyingly ancient. This was no ordinary life form.
For Chu Hang, this was practically a top-tier experience package delivered right to his doorstep. A living, breathing celestial being, a perfect subject for replication. If he could replicate his life form, his own life level would definitely rise to a new level.
"It wouldn't hurt to go and take a look," Chu Hang finally said.
His words were like a reassuring pill, helping the hesitant Quill to make up his mind.
"That's right, let's go take a look!"
The Milan followed the white spaceship and slowly landed on the surface of Igor's planet.
As soon as they stepped out of the cabin, everyone was stunned by the sight before them.
This place doesn't resemble a planet; it's more like a garden from a myth. Golden palaces rise from the ground, exotic plants emit a soft glow, and the air is filled with a refreshing fragrance. Everything is so perfect it seems unreal.
A handsome middle-aged man wearing a brown leather jacket, with slightly curly long hair and a beard, stood smiling not far away. He looked like a rock star from the 1970s, his eyes filled with a sense of vicissitude and tenderness.
Beside him stood a girl with antennae and large, insect-like eyes, looking somewhat timid. She was the Mantis Woman.
“Welcome to my world, Peter.” The man opened his arms.
Quill looked at him, then back at the enormous face in the sky, feeling overwhelmed.
"You...aren't you a planet?"
“That’s just a part of me, my true self,” Ego explained with a smile. “I created this avatar to travel through the universe. Isn’t it much cooler than you imagined?”
He stepped forward and gave Quill a hug.
Quill's body was stiff, but when he was embraced, a long-lost, blood-connected feeling welled up inside him. His eyes reddened slightly.
Chu Hang watched quietly from the side. He could sense that this avatar was merely the tip of the iceberg of Ego's immense power, like a single hair on a person's head. The Mantis woman beside him, however, displayed strange emotional fluctuations, filled with both pity and fear.
"Let's go inside and talk," Igor warmly invited everyone.
In the opulent palace, Ego recounted a long story. He was a celestial being who had traveled alone through the universe for millions of years, sowing seeds of life on countless planets in search of his kind. On Earth, he met Quill's mother and fell in love, but his celestial nature prevented him from staying long.
After he left, he always wanted to go back and bring back Quill and his mother, but he was delayed for various reasons. By the time he returned, she had already passed away. He hired Yondu to go to Earth and bring Quill back, but Yondu betrayed him and kept Quill by his side.
The story was told with great emotion, and Quill listened with tears in his eyes, completely immersed in the touching moment of the father and son's reunion.
But Gamora and Rocket felt something was off the more they listened.
"So, you've been looking for us for over twenty years, and you've only just found us now?" Rocket crossed his arms, looking on with suspicion.
“The universe is too big, child,” Igor sighed, “but I never gave up.”
Chu Hang found an opportunity to pull Gamora and Rocket aside.
"What do you think of this story?" he asked.
“Full of flaws,” Gamora bluntly stated. “He’s too perfect, so perfect he’s like a fraud.”
“That’s right, I smell a lie.” Rocket’s nose twitched.
“Your intuition is correct,” Chu Hang said in a low voice. “This guy is dangerous, more dangerous than any enemy you can imagine. His power is not for creation, but for devouring.”
He didn't go into too much detail, because they wouldn't understand if he explained too much.
"What do we do? That idiot Quill is completely convinced!" Rocket exclaimed anxiously.
"Don't rush." Chu Hang smiled. "I'm also very curious about what it's like to be on a living planet. Just treat this as a vacation. Quill needs time to accept reality and to discover the truth. Don't worry, with me here, he can't cause any trouble."
Chu Hang's assurance reassured Gamora and Rocket somewhat. They had both witnessed Chu Hang's power and knew he wasn't exaggerating.
"I want to see what he's up to." Chu Hang looked at Quill, who was playing catch with Igor, a hint of anticipation flashing in his eyes.
This is a Celestial Being, every part of it is a treasure.
After spending two days on Ego's planet, Ego showed Quill how to use the Celestial power within him, and the father and son had a great time.
Chu Hang, on the other hand, has been doing one thing.
He sat cross-legged on the palace balcony, eyes closed, his energy perception spreading like an invisible net over the entire planet.
He was analyzing Igor's life frequency and pinpointing his core energy fluctuations.
"System, target 'Igor' body locked. Begin copying."
[WARNING: The target is a Celestial-level life form with an immeasurable energy level. Copying will cause irreversible changes to the host's life form. Success rate: 12%. Continue?]
"12%?" Chu Hang frowned. This success rate was ridiculously low.
But he had no choice. This was a crucial step for him towards a higher level. His divine physique, coupled with his understanding of the Laws of Power, should allow him to withstand this impact.
A torrent of information, indescribable in words, rushed into his consciousness.
That is not energy, but pure "existence" itself.
He saw a solitary consciousness born from nothingness, and how it spent millions of years painstakingly gathering cosmic dust to create its own body—a planet. He saw how it learned to create life, and how, driven mad by loneliness, it embarked on a grand plan to devour the universe.
Chu Hang felt his body being broken down, every cell, every atom being rewritten by a higher-dimensional set of rules.
A pale golden light began to flow beneath his skin. His bones were transforming into some kind of more solid and eternal substance.
[Copy successful. Gained SSS-level ability: Celestial Life Form.]
[Warning: The host's life form is transitioning to the Celestial level. This process will continue for a certain period of time and is irreversible.]
Chu Hang suddenly opened his eyes and exhaled a long breath. That breath condensed into golden ice crystals in the air before slowly dissipating.
He felt that he was... different.
His level of life is undergoing an unpredictable leap, which he roughly senses will take about ten years.
