I am the Enchantress!

Chapter 17 Giant Spider

Chapter 17 Giant Spider

Between two trees about fifty feet apart, a huge and intricate white spider web slowly became clear.

Gru's entire back was stuck to it, cursing and struggling, but he couldn't move an inch.

"Gru, be quiet!"

Cyrion shouted, holding his oak shield in front of him and drawing his sword with his other hand, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

Wilder pressed himself against the tree trunk and Cyril, his palms outstretched, ready to gather power and cast a spell at any moment.

Lyle had already drawn his bow and arrow, ready to fire at any monster that showed its face.

The forest was eerily quiet.

The birdsong had disappeared sometime ago, even the wind had stopped, and sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Then, they saw it.

A large spider slowly crawled out from behind the tree trunk at the far end of the web.

Giant spider.

Its body is as big as an adult bull, and its eight long, hairy legs are covered with barbs, ending in sharp claws like daggers. It is lightly stepping on the spider web.

Its dark brown carapace is covered with black patterns that extend all the way to its belly, resembling some kind of ancient totem.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

Lyle struck first, sending three arrows flying through the air, aiming straight for the giant spider's head.

Suddenly, the spider's eight round eyes turned, and its eight long legs rose sharply, rapidly thrashing across the web, perfectly dodging the three precise arrows.

"hiss--"

It let out a terrifying low growl, then raised its front paws, pointing its belly at Wilder and his group.

A clump of white silk netting shot out instantly at an extremely fast speed!

"Back off!"

Cyrion roared and held his shield firmly in both hands to block the attack. The seemingly light spider silk was surprisingly powerful, and he couldn't help but take a few steps back.

"hiss--"

The spider moved along its web, humming softly, seemingly searching for a new angle to attack.

"Save Gru first."

Cyrion quickly devised a strategy: "Lyle's arrows forced it back to the edge of the web, Wilder used his grease spell to control its movement, and I took the opportunity to get Gru down."

The spider web is slightly toxic, and even if Gru has thick skin, he can't stay on it for long.

Wilder and Lyle nodded simultaneously.

Operation begins!

Lyle leaped up, nimbly landing on the branches of the ancient tree behind him, and then disappeared into the canopy.

"Eight, seven, six..."

As Wilde had instructed, he silently counted eight numbers in his mind.

III.2...

One!

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

Four arrows shot out from the tree canopy without warning, hurtling towards the spider's head!

The spider's eight eyes darted around rapidly, and it nimbly leaped backward, dodging the arrow.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

Four more arrows were fired, still aimed at its head.

The spider instinctively retreated further, already close to the edge where its web connected to the tree trunk.

"hiss--"

It let out an angry growl, preparing to retaliate, when suddenly its pair of upward-turned eyes widened.

Directly above it, a thick, dark yellow oily fog had gathered, obscuring the sun in the sky.

【Greasy Techniques】

fall!

Thick layers of grease poured down in an instant.

The spider was about to leap forward to dodge—

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

Four more arrows fell, blocking its path.

Before the spider could react, it moved backward to dodge the arrows, but was splattered with grease. Its feet slipped, and it fell flat on its face on the equally slippery web.

"pretty!"

Cyrion shouted and strode towards where Gru was trapped.

[A surge of action]

He swung his sword several times in succession, each strike as heavy as a thousand pounds. The tough, iron-like spider web shattered like glass under the blade, creating a gap.

Gru fell to the ground and scrambled to his feet.

Ignoring the spiderwebs still clinging to his back, he swung his long axe and charged at the giant spider.

"Damn it! You dare to trick me? I'll chop you up with this axe!"

Cyrion, wielding a one-handed sword, prepared to charge forward, ready to finish off the immobilized giant spider alongside Gru.

Sudden.

A blast of scorching air swept in from behind.

The cool, bright spring moon felt like it had been fast-forwarded into midsummer.

"boom--!"

A scorching tongue of fire shot out, striking the oil-covered giant spider before Cyrion and Gru could.

The flames instantly ignited the grease.

"hiss--"

The giant spider cried out in agony and helplessness on its burning web, until it was finally engulfed by the raging flames and fell silent.

Cyrion and Gru turned around in a daze.

Wilder stood behind him, knees slightly bent, arms outstretched, thumbs touching, mimicking the posture of a fledgling eagle taking flight.

[Burning Hand]

hit!

【等级】:Lv2(110/300)——Lv2(140/300)

Successfully knocked out the top head, gaining 30 experience points.

Wilder nodded in satisfaction.

"Snapped!"

Gru slapped him on the shoulder: "Not bad, little guy! Was that a fireball spell?"

"The fireball spell came down from the sky; Wilder must have used Burning Hand," Lyle corrected Gru, having returned to the ground from the canopy.

"Lyle is right."

Wilder scratched his head in his signature way, like a somewhat reckless young man. "I just unconsciously released a spell I learned a couple of days ago. It was a bit impulsive."

"Well done! You are worthy of being a mage apprentice," Cyrion praised sincerely.

The team didn't distribute the rewards according to the K-head, and no one cared.

"I'll take 40% of this mission, Cyrion and Lyle will each take 30%, and Gru will take 20%," Cyrion said, making the allocation.

"Oh." Grun nodded, but had no objection.

After all, he was of no use in this battle except for using his physical body to locate the enemy.

On the other side, the giant spider, along with the piece of web covered in grease, had burned completely and fell heavily to the ground.

"You guys get some rest, I'm going to clean up the battlefield. Watching you fight like this has been so boring..."

Gru was speaking when suddenly his body went limp, and he swayed and almost fell over.

"The spider web is poisonous." Cyrion helped him sit down by the tree trunk. "Did you bring any antidote?"

Gru nodded.

"I'm going to whack that beast's jerky a few more times with an axe later. How dare he poison me!"

He cursed as he rummaged through his bag, pulled out a bottle of medicine, uncorked it, and took a few sips.

Wilder blinked.

The bottle, the color of the liquid...

Why does it look so familiar?

He didn't pay much attention, rolled up his sleeves, and said, "I'll go clean up the mess, you guys rest..."

"etc."

Lyle stopped him, "I remember the task list said... there were two spiders, right?"

The group of people were taken aback.

"There's a fishy smell in the air."

Blessed by nature, the elven race possesses the most acute sense of smell of all species.

It took several seconds for the others to notice.

The smell grew stronger.

Lyle gently drew the arrow and nocked it on the fully drawn bow.

"They're here."

Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the tree canopy ahead, and another spider appeared eerily on the thick branch.

Several people looked up and stared wide-eyed in unison.

Compared to the previous one, this giant spider is much larger, comparable in size to an adult elephant.

Even more peculiar is...

It's actually blue.
