I am the Enchantress!

Chapter 15 New Mission

Chapter 15 New Mission

On this continent of Edland, dragons have always been the most mysterious beings.

They are ancient and powerful, the species closest to the gods.

"Dragon's breath? No dragon nests have ever been found around Ironweave Town, how could there be a dragon?" Gru slammed his fist on the table, looking very excited.

"Dragons fly very fast, so they might just take a detour here." Lyle, who was usually not very talkative, was quite interested in this topic.

I've seen dragons.

These four words are enough to make an ordinary adventurer proud for a lifetime.

Several people were having a lively discussion about this topic.

Cyrion suddenly remembered something and looked at Wilder: "By the way, didn't you find a dragon scale in the kobold's lair? Did you sell it?"

"Not yet," Wilde replied.

Martha suggested, "Let's wait a bit. This is a sensitive time. The association is keeping a close eye on everything related to dragons."

Wilder nodded.

Gru suddenly slammed his hand on the table: "Seriously, could it be a scale from the same dragon? Dragons that breathe fire are red dragons! I remember your scale was red!"

"Um... I don't know either." Wilder scratched his head.

He wasn't really interested in the topic of dragons; it was the kind of species that sounded impossible to defeat, and he preferred to avoid encountering them if possible.

On the contrary, another piece of news that Martha mentioned was more of a concern to him.

The location of the fire is...

The heart of the border forest?

Isn't that where Talia went on her mission?

"Martha, the guild has a bounty for obtaining the blood of the Soul-Burning Hound... Has anyone completed it recently?" he asked tentatively.

"No one has completed this task yet."

Martha shook her head. "Besides, there's a fire in the heart of the forest, so the bounty is suspended for today."

Wilder nodded.

Hopefully, Talia never even did the quest.

The drinking session lasted from 8 p.m. until midnight, and Wilde sadly discovered that she couldn't even outdrink Martha, who had the lowest alcohol tolerance.

As he stepped out of the Wild Wolf Tavern, a cool night breeze cleared his head a bit.

Before parting, Cyrion asked, "How did you all rest?"

"I'm fine," Lyle answered first.

Gru let out a burp, didn't say anything, but patted his kneecap, albeit backwards, but the meaning was clear.

"I'm fine with it too," Wilder replied.

"Alright! See you at the Adventurers' Guild tomorrow at noon, it's time to make some money!"

Cyrion laughed heartily, displaying his fighting spirit in front of the woman he liked.

Cyrion then saw Martha off first, while Lyle and Gru walked side by side, bickering as they left.

Wilder staggered back to the Colt Inn, the second wave of alcohol hitting him. He lay down on the bed and fell asleep immediately.

……

The following day at noon, in the Adventurers' Guild hall.

[Task ID]: X001

[Task Type]: Recruitment

[Mission Location]: Border Forest Heartland, Coordinates Q·6

[Task Description]: Cooperate with the association to investigate the cause of the forest fire in the heart of the forest.

[Task Reward]: 10000 Gold Coins

[Mission Level]: High Risk

[Task Qualification]: Possess an Adventurer Guild badge of Gold Rank or higher.

……

"This much money is enough for us to retire immediately," Gru said, resting his chin on his hand. "Shall we take this?"

"Retirement isn't certain, but death means you won't have to take any more risks." Lyle released his grip, and the dwarf fell back to the ground from mid-air. "Your arm must be sore from holding it up for so long, and you're still looking at some useless task list."

"Look, it's still not working." Gru complained, straining to stand on tiptoe, but he could only see the shoulders of the people in front of him.

Let's look at something practical.

Cyrion stared at the list covering the bulletin board, his gaze finally settling on an inconspicuous task.

[Task ID]: S711

[Task Type]: Cleanup

[Mission Location]: Outskirts of Border Forest, coordinates R·11

[Task Description]: Recently, two [Giant Spiders] have appeared in the designated area. They are highly aggressive and have already killed more than ten lumberjacks. They urgently need to be eliminated.

[Quest Reward]: 50 silver coins for each giant spider hunted.

[Task Level]: Easy

[Task Qualification]: Possess an Adventurer's Guild badge of Bronze rank or higher.

……

"How about this?" Cyrion suggested. "Two for a hundred silver coins, and spider silk is quite valuable. All things considered, we should be able to get three hundred silver coins in total."

On average, each person receives seventy-five silver coins, which is quite a good deal for a simple task.

"Not bad, huh?" Gru grumbled. "It's just a bit of a drop compared to the ten thousand gold coins from before."

"We haven't teamed up yet, so you can take on the fire investigation mission on your own," Lyle said, pursing his lips.

"Forget it, it's my fault for not having a gold badge. They're too strict." Gru made up an excuse and stopped mentioning the 10,000 gold.

Wilder also agreed to take on the giant spider mission.

Spider silk is highly flammable, and he was already imagining the scene of burning down enemy camps with the [Burning Hand].

With everyone's consent, Cyrion removed the task list and registered at the counter.

"Meet at the town entrance at six o'clock tomorrow morning. Let's try to complete the mission that day. Maybe we can catch the special evening ale at the Wild Wolf Tavern tonight."

At the entrance of the Adventurers' Guild, Cyrion gave instructions: "The giant spider's fangs have a mild venom. Although it won't kill you, everyone should still buy some antidote to keep on hand."

The group then went their separate ways.

In the bustling market, Wilder hadn't walked far when he happened to spot a stall on the side of the street.

Several bottles of unidentified liquid were scattered on the stained coarse cloth.

"Young man, what would you like to buy? Feel free to look around." The vendor was dressed in a tattered robe; whether he was actually a monk was still unknown.

"Do you have an antidote?" Wilder asked.

"Yes, yes, yes!" The vendor casually picked up a bottle of fluorescent green liquid from the ground. "A century-old secret recipe, it can cure all poisons, and the effects are amazing!"

Wilder frowned as he looked at the liquid, which was full of sediment at the bottom and had foam floating on the surface.

"Can you cure the giant spider's venom?"

"Sure!"

"What about the poison lizard?"

"That's okay!"

"What about the green dragon's?"

"Yes, it can!"

"How much?"

"Ten silver coins!"

"oh."

Wilder put down the bottle, turned and walked away, the peddler's shouts echoing behind him: "Three bottles for twenty taels of silver, I'll take it!"

Less than ten silver coins can cure the Green Dragon's deadly poisonous breath?

Doesn't the green dragon have any pride?

Finally, Wilder bought a bottle of low-grade antidote from a legitimate apothecary for thirty silver coins.

Although it can only remove toxins from low-level monsters, the product is compliant with regulations, so you can buy with confidence.

He then strolled around the town and bought a thick, tanned leather armor for sixty silver coins.

Back at the Colt Inn in the evening, Wilde ordered dinner with pork ribs, which cost three silver coins.

In the blink of an eye, only five silver coins remained in his savings account.

This also includes the twenty-seven silver coins that Talia gave him.

How come this money disappears so quickly?

Wilder's resentment finally returned to the two gold coins that the mage had cheated him out of, and he lay down on the wooden bed in his single room, grumbling to himself, and soon fell asleep.

……

At 5:45 a.m., Wilder opened his eyes.

There are no alarm clocks in this world; if you want to get up early, you have to go to bed early. Fortunately, we weren't late for the meeting.

He dressed, put on his soft armor, tucked his dagger into his waistband, and prepared to go downstairs to eat some hot oatmeal porridge before heading to the town entrance to meet up.

Push open the door.

"Crunch—"

Wilder paused, stunned.

A girl covered in mud lay on the ground by the door, her eyes closed.

Talia.
