Chapter 32 Minor Update
Chapter 32 Minor Update
"Now you can tell me your identity and purpose, right?"
Undine, Olya, and the other five followed Willis to a corner of the first floor of the underground city. Willis activated his senses to make sure there was no one else around before he stopped.
"Okay." Willis pulled back his hood and removed the light-refraction magic that had been covering him.
With his red hair flowing, Willis's handsome face was revealed, and everyone was shocked.
Who are you?
Except for Olya, who was faking it, the others genuinely didn't recognize the person in front of them, because Willis hadn't officially joined the Papacy yet, and his portrait and information were only circulating among a portion of the imperial nobility.
"I am Willis, the hero."
"You're a hero?" Undine crossed her arms and said dismissively, "I could say I'm the Elf King."
"Oliya is a saintess of the Holy See."
"My sisters are the consorts of the saint."
Willis remained calm, his arms wrapped around the sky, and uttered a papal oath: "Willis the hero, I swear to the God of Light, if I am not a hero, may my body perish and my soul be eternally tormented by flames."
Holy light shines, and the vow is successfully engraved.
Undine was dumbfounded.
Oaths involving deities cannot be forged, because deities truly punish falsehoods.
If a vow of punishment fails to come true, there are only two possibilities: either the vow was true, or the person appears to be alive, but their soul has actually perished.
"I really am a hero, but I didn't have time to join the Holy See."
Willis remained calm and slowly explained that although he did not believe in the Church, swearing to the God of Light was really effective. If the other party did not believe, he could swear, and the oath would be accurate.
At this moment, Undine had never wished so much that she was the Elf King.
Her face flushed red as she understood for the first time what the human phrase "wishing she could disappear into a crack in the ground" truly meant.
Without turning around, Undine could sense from the burning gazes and subtle sounds behind her that Olya and the other elves were trying hard to suppress their laughter.
"It was Willis who broke the deadlock," he said seriously.
"I'm here on a mission. What I'm about to say, please don't tell anyone before the mission is complete, and don't tell anyone that you've seen me."
"OK."
The women agreed, and given the hero's good reputation on the continent, almost all lawful adventurers were happy to help him.
Willis nodded, then looked at the blonde girl and asked, "Oliya, does your Ston family have any records of the succubus leader?"
"some."
Oria answered obediently, her eyes clear and bright, and said, "Hero, are you looking for them? I can take you to see them."
"I am indeed going to find them. Also, you don't need to call me hero. I have a name, Willis."
Willis felt his face flush. He had never really accepted his identity as a "Hero," otherwise he wouldn't have gone two years without the Church discovering his Heroic profession.
"I told you this is a deal, so after you take me to them tomorrow, I'll grant you one request without compromising my principles."
With that, Willis raised his hands to the sky again and swore an oath.
This maneuver completely baffled Caesar, who was lurking in the shadows.
Although the God of Light above hadn't noticed him despite casting his gaze several times, what if Willis kept swearing oaths in his dungeon and the God of Light, seeing so many of these oaths, actually figured something out?
Damn it, he really got control of this damn hero.
……
At midnight, Caesar slapped away all the adventurers who hadn't managed to leave, and rushed to the core of his boss level—the lottery contract.
He had seriously underestimated the wickedness of human nature. He had thought that the safety net would hold for a while and that opportunistic groups of adventurers wouldn't appear so soon.
But as it turned out, he was wrong.
The emergence of these groups in the past two days, along with the chain reaction of the Ston family's preparation to withdraw from the dungeon and stop sending guards to the BOSS level to maintain order, has triggered a series of events.
His daily life points only fluctuated around 100,000, greatly reducing the adventurer's willingness to participate in the lottery.
This is an absolute rip-off.
He had no choice but to drastically change the lottery system.
First, the guaranteed minimum reward mechanism must be eliminated; there can no longer be a situation where people can figure out when the reward will be drawn.
Otherwise, the same thing will happen again and again.
However, the odds of winning the grand prize cannot be completely random.
If every adventurer had the same chance of winning a prize, powerful adventurers might directly enslave lower-level adventurers to "farm points".
In the future, large numbers of slaves will be brought in here to be used as lottery consumables.
Caesar wouldn't even consider such cheap vitality.
"The reward transfer mechanism should be retained. Apart from the grand prize, transferring regular rewards can make the lottery more popular and promote it..."
Caesar pondered silently, wishing he could capture all the people who designed the gacha system in his past life and make them his slaves to advise him.
"My lottery isn't just for one person, but for all adventurers, so I can't easily manipulate this group through methods like fake randomness..."
Caesar started a brainstorming session, and incidentally shared his ideas with Luna's think tank.
"How about we organize a chain of prize draws?"
There's movement from Luna's side:
"The dungeon's current capacity is three thousand people. Two hours after the dungeon opens, the number of people permanently stationed on the BOSS level is around five hundred."
"If we set a limit on the lottery, only 300 or a different number of people can participate, and the lottery will only officially start when the number of participants is reached."
"Those hundreds of people participating in the lottery at the same time are similar to the 'ten-pull' in your old single-player game. The more people participate, the higher the probability of winning."
"What do you think, boss?"
"It's feasible, but it needs improvement," Caesar said. "We won't add any restrictions. This could be a new mode where adventurers can choose to draw individually or participate in a group draw, and the group draw should have a minimum limit."
"Let's start with a minimum of ten, and as for the maximum, let's not set one yet and see what the adventurers say."
Without hesitation, Caesar immediately injected vitality into the system and began a sweeping reform of the card-drawing system.
[The guaranteed minimum has been removed; the odds of winning in a single draw are now determined by the draw participant's lifespan.]
[Normal Reward: Base probability is 0.1%, with an additional 0.01% probability for every 100 points of the adventurer's health, up to a temporary cap of 1%]
[Golden Reward: Base probability is 0.01%, increasing by 0.001% for every 100 points of the adventurer's health, with a tentative cap of 0.1%]
Group lottery:
The base odds are the same as for single-player draws, and the methods to increase the odds are also the same as for single-player draws.
In other words, the probability of accumulating enough points in a group lottery can be shared by everyone.
"This is the second version of the lottery mechanism. What do you think?"
