Chapter 727 The New Secret Agent

Chapter 727 The New Secret Agent

Chaos has broken out. Ever since Dumbledore was struck by Voldemort's Killing Curse in Godric's Hollow, the entire Order of the Phoenix has been in complete disarray.

Fortunately, Dumbledore's final burst of flames successfully stopped Voldemort and all the Death Eaters, giving the Order of the Phoenix time to use Apparition.

Siren also left, using Apparition to return to the backyard of the Leaky Cauldron, and then immediately rushed to number twelve Grimmauld Place.

Meanwhile, more members of the Order of the Phoenix were arriving one after another.

"Where's Alastor?"

"Mad-Eye Moody, he took Dumbledore with him in the end—"

"Where is Mad-Eye—hasn't he come back yet?"

As soon as Celeste opened the door, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny rushed over.

"Harry, is Dumbledore really dead?" Hermione asked anxiously.

It was so chaotic here just now. People kept coming in, and everyone was saying that Dumbledore had been killed by Voldemort.

They were frantic and wanted to find out what had happened, but everyone was busy searching for Mad-Eye Moody, who had taken Dumbledore's body last, and paid no attention to the children.

Just when they were at a loss, Xiren returned.

"I—I don't know how to say it." Sirius paused for a moment, looking at Hermione's anxious gaze, and said, "But Dumbledore was indeed struck by Voldemort's Killing Curse, and everyone saw it with their own eyes. We—and more than two hundred Death Eaters, all saw it."

With a thud, Ginny collapsed to the ground. Ron instinctively took a few steps back, pressing himself against the wall, as if that was the only way he could stay upright.

Hermione looked a little better, but she was still pale and her body was shaking uncontrollably.

Although she was unwilling to believe it was true, memories of what she had read in books flashed through her mind—the Avada Kedavra curse, the most terrible of the unforgivable curses. People who were cursed by this curse died. No, that's not right, there are exceptions!

Harry and Voldemort were both cursed by this spell, but they both survived!

Dumbledore is so powerful; he's widely recognized as the most powerful wizard of this century. Maybe he also has a way to resist the Killing Curse!

A spark ignited within her again, and Hermione abruptly looked up, beginning her search for Mad-Eye Moody, just like the others.

"Didn't Mad-Eye come?" Siren asked.

"No." Ron shook his head, his voice still trembling slightly. "You're the twenty-sixth person to ask this question, but we can see very clearly that he hasn't come back."

"Why? This shouldn't be happening." Xilun frowned.

Moody was the first person to Apparate and take Dumbledore's body away from Godric's Hollow. Even if the safe spot he chose was far away, they should have arrived by now.

But now it's like he's vanished.

Has Voldemort found him?

Xilen considered one of the most troublesome possibilities, but then shook his head at himself.

It's highly unlikely that before leaving, Sirius witnessed Dumbledore unleashing fire magic that burned Voldemort.

Although that flame wasn't Fiendfire, its temperature was still much higher than ordinary magical flames, so Voldemort wouldn't have had time to chase Mad-Eye Han.

As for the other Death Eaters, it's unlikely they'll be able to find him either.

Time passed slowly, and more and more people gathered at No. 12 Grimmauld Place, the atmosphere growing increasingly tense. Some people gradually couldn't bear it anymore and began to wail loudly, their piercing cries causing even more people to break down.

"Stop right there! Where are you going?"

Just then, Xiren suddenly heard Ron's voice, turned around and saw Ron standing in the corridor by the door, blocking the way of a short, stocky wizard with messy ginger-yellow hair.

Silen remembered him, Mundungus Fletcher, who seemed to want to leave.

"Get out of my way, kid." Mundungus glared at Ron without any politeness. "This is an internal matter of the Order of the Phoenix, none of your business!"

He shoved Ron hard with his shoulder, making him stumble, and then tried to squeeze past him.

"Stop!" Ron got up again and blocked his way.

"You can't leave! What if you tell the Death Eaters where this place is!" Ron shouted.

Mundungus's face instantly turned bright red, as if he had been insulted.

The commotion quickly attracted even more people.

But strangely, no one stood up for Mundungus, and no one blamed Ron for it.

Even Mrs. Weasley, who was always strict with her children, never considered making Ron apologize to Mundungus.

She merely glanced at Mundungus with a look of disgust and disdain, then shook her head at Ron.

"Let him go, Ron."

"But Mom—"

"It's alright, Ron, this place is under the spell of loyalty, even if the secret keeper is—is killed—" She suddenly choked up, grief welling up instantly, and she couldn't say anything more.

Because the keeper of secrets at 12 Grimmauld Place is Dumbledore.

"Make way, Ron." Siren stepped forward and helped explain, "The Unyielding Charm doesn't lose its effect just because the Secret Keeper is killed; the identity will automatically transfer to someone else who knows about this place. If I'm not mistaken, the new Secret Keeper should be Sirius Black."

"What?" Sirius Black, standing in the crowd, pointed to himself in confusion. "You're saying I'm the new liaison here?"

"You don't know?" Xilun asked, puzzled.

"Should I...know?"

Judging from his expression, he probably wasn't lying.

Xilun then looked at the others.

But everyone he saw—Mrs. Weasley, Mr. Weasley, Lupin, Tonks, Kingsley—all said they were not Secret Agents.

The next second, everyone's eyes fell on Mundungus.

"What do you mean by this?!" Mundungus was startled, his face showing obvious panic.

"You don't think I'm a secret agent, do you? How could that be? How could it be me?!"

"That's certainly possible," Siren said, squinting.

As the owner of this house, Sirius Black has the highest probability of becoming the Keeper of the Secret after Dumbledore's death.

However, a high probability does not mean certainty; other people could also be the same.

"Stand there, Mundungus!" Kingsley drew his wand, subtly pointing it at him.

"No one is allowed to leave here until a new liaison is found!"

"Shackles!" Mundungus panicked and shouted, "You don't believe me—do you think I would betray Dumbledore?"

Kingsley didn't say anything, but everyone could see that was what he meant.

"I----"

Mundungus was about to say something more, but was interrupted by a sudden shout.

"Hogwarts!" Fred shouted. "Professor McGonagall just told me Mad-Eye is at Hogwarts!"
