Chapter 430 Legilimency and Truth Potion
Sirius and the others didn't rush to leave. Having not seen each other for several days, Harry and Ron seemed to have endless things to talk about. Sirius listened for a while, and the name they mentioned most often was Sirius.
Xiren didn't hear exactly what they talked about, but Ron seemed quite angry.
Lunch wasn't much, but Mrs. Weasley still managed to cheer everyone up and prepared a delicious stew and corned beef sandwiches.
"You guys are saviors!" Fred shouted excitedly, his mouth full of sandwiches.
George, standing nearby, did the same, mumbling, "You'd never guess what we've been eating these past few days."
"Mom has absolutely no appetite for cooking..."
"We're practically fighting with the goblins in the garden for potatoes."
"Still raw potatoes!"
The two men talked on and on, their stories becoming increasingly tragic, as if they had been surviving on dry bread and cold water for the past few days.
In reality, however, their food was not bad. Mrs. Weasley was very worried about Percy, but that did not mean she neglected her children. She just occasionally lost track of time.
At this time of year, Bill and Charlie would take on this job. While their skills weren't quite as good as Mrs. Weasley's, they had no problem cooking the food properly, adding a few seasonings as needed. It was definitely better than potatoes from the garden.
Fred and George even helped a few times. They said that just to distract Mrs. Weasley from being upset about Percy.
"That's enough, you two. There are still guests here."
Sure enough, upon hearing the twins' complaints, Mrs. Weasley somewhat embarrassedly stopped them from continuing.
Xilun pretended not to hear anything and continued eating his stew and boiled potatoes.
To be honest, the Weasley family's homegrown potatoes taste really good; they taste better than the ones at school.
During the meal, Hermione thoughtfully discussed the Wizarding Law with Mrs. Weasley.
"I've looked at many cases, and Percy didn't do anything. He just helped Barty Crouch a little, and it was all in the course of his work. In these cases, the Ministry of Magic cannot identify him as a Death Eater; that would be against the rules."
"If they insist on doing this, we can go to the Wisconsin-Germany Arbitration Commission..."
"Thank you, thank you so much, my dear." Mrs. Weasley hugged Hermione with gratitude. This was the first time in so many days that someone had offered advice and suggestions.
With Hermione's encouragement and Fred and George's banter, Mrs. Weasley's mood improved considerably.
By the afternoon, she was in an even better mood.
Because the pointer representing Mr. Weasley had just suddenly moved, jumping from "at work" to "on the way".
The next second, the door to the humble dwelling was pushed open from the outside.
Bill and Charlie were the first to walk in.
"Mommy, come quick, Mommy..."
"Dad's home!"
Then, a weary-looking Mr. Weasley walked in from outside.
However, as soon as he stepped into the house, Mr. Weasley immediately put away his fatigue and tried to appear as happy as the children.
"Oh...Arthur...I was so worried...so worried..."
Mrs. Weasley ran over quickly and put her arms around Mr. Weasley's neck.
"Thank goodness you're alright. How's Percy? How's Percy?" she murmured. "Bill and Charlie go to the Ministry of Magic every day, but they forbid them from visiting you and Percy."
"Don't worry, Molly, everything will be alright," Mr. Weasley reassured her. "Let's go inside and talk. I'm really hungry. Is there any leftover from lunch?"
"I'll go make it for you." Mrs. Weasley hurriedly left again.
They all squeezed into the small kitchen, where Mrs. Weasley used the leftover boiled potatoes from lunch, along with some fried eggs and ham, to make a generous pie that was enough for five people.
While waiting, Xiren pulled out a handful of candy and chocolate. Since winning the Triwizard Tournament, he had received many gifts from others almost every day, most of which were candy and snacks.
When people are feeling down, eating some candy is the simplest and most effective way to cheer themselves up. After all, in the magical world, chocolate has always been known as a food that brings happiness.
It's said that in Azkaban, chocolate has always been a form of hard currency, even more valuable than gold coins. That's why he made sure to bring a lot with him when he left home that morning.
"Great, this is exactly what I need right now." Mr. Weasley picked up a piece of milk chocolate, tore open the wrapper, and popped it into his mouth.
The others followed suit and picked out their favorite candies.
Hermione made Mr. Weasley another strong cup of tea, and Mr. Weasley insisted on adding a little Ogden Old Flame Whisky to it.
He doesn't actually like drinking much, but in this situation, he does need a little alcohol.
Before he had even finished a cup of strong tea mixed with whiskey, Mrs. Weasley brought out a slice of pie.
"Arthur, how is Percy?" she asked anxiously.
"I can only say it's not too bad," Mr. Weasley said. "Yesterday Dumbledore came, and as the First Wizard of Wizengamor, he suggested that the Aurors use Legilimency on Percy, or use Veritaserum to determine whether Percy was involved in Barty Crouch's actions."
"Oh, my God..." Mrs. Weasley gasped, clutching her chest.
Legilimency and Truth Potion are both methods that can expose all of a person's secrets, and are the interrogation methods that wizards least want to face.
Fortunately, Legilimency and Truth Potion are strictly prohibited for most interrogations, and even if they must be used, they must be approved by the Ministry of Magic and Wizengamor.
Mrs. Weasley never imagined that they would ever request Legilimency.
"Poor Percy, he's always been the best boy who follows the rules..." Mrs. Weasley said sadly.
Fred and George both pursed their lips.
They don't deny that Percy is "rule-abiding." When he was still at Hogwarts, he was always called the walking school rule because he had memorized all those rules and regulations.
As for the "good boy"... if Percy really was, he wouldn't have been arrested.
"Anyway, he'll be out soon, right?" Fred said. "Once he uses Legilimency or Veritaserum, everyone will know that he didn't actually do anything; he was just sucking up to Barty Crouch."
"This... I'm afraid it's not feasible yet," Mr. Weasley said, his expression becoming somewhat strange.
"Why?" Ron asked.
"Because the Ministry of Magic believed that Legilimency and Veritaserum would involve a wizard's privacy, it rejected Dumbledore's proposal on the spot."
