History Park: Starting with the Imjin War

Chapter 12 Live Mutilation

Chapter 12 Live Mutilation

As they stepped out of the tent, the morning light had fully spread out, and the central military training ground was bustling with people.

Lin Jun turned his head and glanced at Mo Qin.

Are you nervous?

"No!!!"

"Pfft, you're kidding! You were clenching your fist the whole time."

Mochin raised his hand and flipped it over.

"Okay, I admit it... a little. Just a little!"

Lin Jun's lips curled into a smile.

"A little more than one point, perhaps?"

Mo Qin rolled his eyes at her.

"You're talking more saliva than tea!!! Shut up!"

At that moment, a private chat popped up in the bottom right corner.

We still drink from the waters south of the Yangtze River.

Mo Qin clicked on it.

[Drinking Horse in Jiangnan: Oh dear... what can I say about you! You're really stupid.]

[Drinking Horse South of the River: I took an arrow for him last night; all I got was a full stomach.]

[Drinking Horse in Jiangnan: Do you think Li Rusong is reliable? We need to cut off the Li family connection; he won't be able to hold on much longer.]

[Drinking Horse South of the Yangtze River: I'll ask you one more time. Come here, and not only will last night's debt be settled, but you'll also get a promotion.]

[Drinking Horse South of the River: If you don't come, neither you nor that woman will last until you enter the court.]

After reading it, Mo Qin took a deep breath.

Reply to the previous three messages directly.

[Central Nine-Headed Bird: I'm so curious!!! In your eyes, is reputation and rewards all that matter?]

[Central China Nine-Headed Bird: You really believe that much? Will the Japanese pirates have the last laugh?]

[Nine-Headed Bird of Central China: Let me tell you, the Japanese want to occupy our beautiful land! 1.4 billion Chinese people will not allow it!]

This time, the only reply from the other side was "idiot, this is the Ming Dynasty."

There was no further response.

A few breaths later, several more messages appeared on the public channel.

[Anonymous: Looking to buy a map showing the rear guard position of the central army at night. High price.]

[Anonymous: Does anyone know the bus schedule from the East Exit? Please report.]

[Anonymous: If someone can bring the person inside out alive, the price is negotiable.]

A subtle commotion immediately arose in the channel.

"Who's crazy? Daring to touch the central army?"

"Bring it out alive? You really dare to dream of that."

"Wasn't the commotion last night enough?"

"Price is negotiable! How high?"

Mo Qin stared at those few lines of messages and switched directly to the channel.

[Central Nine-Headed Bird: I'm your strictest father! I'm in the central army, come if you're not afraid to die!]

[Central Taiwan Nine-Headed Birds: A bunch of traitorous dogs, they dare to haggle here.]

[Central Taiwan Nine-Headed Bird: Whoever comes, I'll kill them!]

Then, another name lit up.

[Gentleman's Sword: To get rich, you need to be alive to enjoy it.]

[Gentleman's Sword: The border troops are quick at capturing people; try it if you want.]

The channel suddenly became much quieter.

A moment later, Yinma Jiangnan replied to the private message.

[Drinking Horse South of the Yangtze River: Stubborn people usually die young.]

Mo Qin looked at the line of text, spat, and immediately closed the window.

Lin Jun withdrew his gaze and said calmly:

"Looks like they've really got their eyes on you."

"Um."

"They've got their eyes on me too."

"Then let's remember them together."

Han Shouyi caught up from behind and glanced at the two of them.

"Li Shuai said, if you want to see the survivors, you can go and take a look."

"Come with me."

The tent where the assassin was imprisoned was not near the main camp, but further back in the central army area.

There were no other camps around, only wooden stakes, barricades, and three old soldiers with knives.

Further out, two more quick-draw gunmen were on guard. Clearly, the rules here had been tightened since last night.

Han Shouyi personally lifted the tent flap.

"Go in."

Don't stay too long.

Mo Qin ducked and crawled inside, and Lin Jun followed him into the tent.

The tent was dark, with only a soybean oil lamp lit.

The assassin was tied to a wooden stake, his hands were bound behind his back, and his feet were shackled. His cotton armor had been stripped off, leaving him only in a blood-soaked undergarment.

His face was covered in bruises, his lips were dry and cracked, but his eyes were full of ferocity, like a wolf with a broken leg that was still biting.

He looked up and saw Mo Qin, and actually smiled.

"It's you."

Mochin remained silent.

"Damn, I underestimated you."

The assassin's voice was hoarse, yet still chillingly cold: "You couldn't even kill me with a poisoned arrow? You're no newbie."

Mo Qin remained silent, walked up to him, and stopped.

"Have you seen enough?"

The assassin asked, "Or are you here to interrogate me too?"

"Neither."

Mo Qindao.

"Then what are you doing here?"

"Come and see."

"What are you looking at?"

Mochin stared at him.

"Look at what those who serve as dogs for the Japanese pirates look like."

The assassin paused for a moment, then laughed.

The laughter was soft, but the voice was grating.

"Are you still talking about this?"

He licked his chapped lips. "You really think this is the Wanli Emperor's invasion of Korea as recorded in history books?"

"You protected Li Rusong last night, but you can't protect him for life."

He stared at Mo Qin, his eyes filled with malice.

"You, that woman, and Li Rusong are all under our surveillance."

"They won't live long."

The temperature inside the tent dropped a little after hearing those words.

Lin Jun was unusually quiet, only glancing at him sideways.

Mo Qin was too lazy to ask any more questions.

Some people can still be this stubborn even at this point; it might be useless to pry them open any further.

He had seen plenty of desperate people in the apocalypse, so there was no need to waste time on them.

He turned around and walked out of the tent.

Lin Jun followed.

The tent flap had just been half-lifted when an assassin's cry came from behind:

Remember that!

Mochin didn't stop walking.

"You'll understand sooner or later that in Paradise, only profit matters! Faith and nation are worthless!"

He hadn't finished speaking.

A muffled thud came from inside the tent.

Mo Qin immediately turned around.

The assassin's body slumped down, and a trickle of black blood had somehow spilled from the corner of his mouth.

"Call the army doctor!" Han Shouyi's roar exploded.

The old soldier who was standing guard rushed in, and almost at the same time, the army doctor was also dragged over.

Upon entering the tent, he knelt down, pried open the assassin's mouth, smelled the blood, and his expression immediately changed.

"It wasn't just awarded."

He looked up sharply.

"It's a slow-acting medication. I took it last night, and it will take effect on its own when the time comes."

The tent fell silent instantly.

Han Shouyi's face was so black it was almost as if ink could drip from it.

"They interrogated everyone all night, but no one figured it out?"

The military doctor gritted his teeth: "The medicine wasn't in his mouth or in his clothes; he probably swallowed it a long time ago. It didn't flare up last night, but it's flaring up now."

He stopped halfway through his sentence.

The rest is self-explanatory.

These assassins had planned this all along!

Once you're in jail, you're going to die.

The assassin made a gurgling sound in his throat, as if he wanted to laugh, or as if he wanted to bite someone.

But once the blood rose to the surface, it completely blocked the flow.

His head tilted to the side.

It stopped moving.

Mo Qin was a little confused. He thought he had found a clue last night.

And now.

The clues have been cut off.

A gust of wind rose outside the tent, lifting a corner of the curtain before it fell back down.

Lin Jun stood next to Mo Qin and whispered.

"Before they made their move, these people took a delayed-acting poison. If they are caught, they will surely die the next day without the antidote."

"The mastermind behind this is ruthless, and he's not the only one like this."

She looked at the corpse and closed her eyes.

"It will only get harder from here on out; we don't have much time left."

Mochin only understood one thing.

I want to become stronger!

I'm going to take on ten!
