Chapter 10 Registration
Chapter 10 Registration
With a long sigh, Li Rusong finally spoke.
"Medic, examine the wound first."
"Leave the survivors alive. The rest, seal off the camp, conduct a checkpoint inspection, and tonight all orders must be verified by two people."
After a few words, the central army started spinning again.
The guards went to block the road, the veterans went to relieve the old guard, and the torches were spread outwards.
The newcomers, who had been stunned, suddenly snapped out of their daze and dispersed according to their assigned numbers.
Some people were pale, some were panting heavily, and some had blank stares; clearly, most of them hadn't come to their senses yet.
The channel has completely exploded.
[Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap! Someone actually made a move!]
Who shot that?!
[Li Rusong is not dead?]
Just a little bit more! Just a little bit more!
Which idiot went and fired that final shot?
[Hilarious! What's the point of adding anything? The tall guy pounced on him.]
Who is the tall guy?
[The Nine-Headed Bird of Central Taiwan! It's most likely him!]
[This is bad. All four of them have been noted down.]
[You bunch of lunatics, do you really dare to do this?]
[Killing Ming generals to gain prestige, what kind of saint are you pretending to be?]
[Dongguan Akhal-Teke Horse: This is too ruthless. If they really get rid of Li Rusong, no one will be able to clean up the mess afterwards.]
Stop talking nonsense.
Upon seeing the phrase "those four have all been noted down," Mo Qin's murderous intent instantly surfaced!
If someone dares to lay a hand on them, they might as well become a killing machine.
At this moment, Lin Jun walked over to the fake messenger.
He crouched down and reached out to flip over the man's wooden sign.
"Master Han, the sign is the old one, but the rope is new."
She looked up and said, "And this lamp. The central army uses white lampshades to relay orders during nighttime shift changes, not yellow ones."
Han Shouyi walked over and glanced at it, his face darkening further.
"How did you know?" the old soldier next to him couldn't help but ask.
"I saw three lamps on my way in."
Lin Jun said, "They all have the same style, only this one is different."
She then grabbed the fake messenger's hand, glanced at his palm, and continued, "This man isn't someone who runs errands in the camp all year round. There are no marks on the web of his hand, but there are two newly rubbed lines on his palm, as if he's been practicing swordsmanship and archery intensely just the last couple of days."
These words made Han Shouyi's gaze towards her much more serious.
Li Rusong stood two steps away, glanced at Lin Jun's face, and then gave Han Shouyi a wink.
The meaning is clear: remember this person.
On the other side, the military doctor pulled back Mochin's armor and was about to dig out the arrow when he froze as soon as his hand touched the wound.
"General Li," the medic instinctively looked up, "this arrow is poisoned."
The expressions of the people around them changed.
Li Rubai was the first to turn his head and look at Mo Qin's shoulder.
"Does it feel numb?" he asked.
Mo Qin stretched his shoulders: "I felt the pain when I was hit, but it's gone now."
The medic smelled the black medicine residue on the arrowhead and frowned.
Then he lightly rubbed the arrow with his finger.
Then, after touching it to the tip of his tongue, his expression immediately became even stranger.
"This is not a medicine that border troops usually keep on hand."
His voice changed, confusion outweighing judgment. "The poison concocted outside works quickly. I've seen people poisoned with this kind of poison turn blue in less than half a cup of tea. Logically speaking..."
He looked up at Mo Qin, but didn't say the rest of his sentence.
Liu Gao's eyelids twitched, and he couldn't help but blurt out, "Then why is Brother Qin still standing?"
Mo Qin glanced at him sideways: "Maybe I'm immune to all poisons."
"But...this can't be right."
Liu Gao swallowed hard, his voice low, "I've seen people in the village who were hit by poisoned arrows; their faces were blue, their lips were black, and they couldn't even stand. How come your complexion is rosy?"
"Shut up."
Lin Jun interrupted him coldly, looking at the military doctor with concern.
Liu Gao immediately covered his mouth.
Only after the army doctor removed the broken arrow and re-bandaged Mo Qin's wound did Li Rusong take two steps toward them.
People around automatically made way.
He looked at Mochin and asked in a low voice, "What's your name?"
"Mo Qin".
"Where are you from?"
"Liaodong military households".
Li Rusong nodded, then turned to Lin Jun: "Were you the first to notice something was wrong?"
Lin Jun cupped his hands in greeting: "Reporting to Commander Li, I have spotted a flaw."
"Oh? You do have some eye for talent," Li Rusong said, looking at Han Shouyi.
"Write it down."
Han Shouyi immediately replied, "Yes."
Li Rusong then added, "And these four..."
His gaze swept over Mo Qin, Lin Jun, Liu Gao, and Yan Qi.
"They will all be recorded in the roster. Tonight, they will be temporarily placed under the command of Han Shouyi."
Upon hearing this, everyone present looked at each other in bewilderment.
Being personally selected by Li Rusong for inclusion in the central army roster is a completely different matter from serving under the guards in the front camp.
Li Rubai, standing to the side, added:
"Don't be happy. If you're really useless, you'll still have to go back tomorrow."
Liu Gao was initially full of pride, but after hearing this, he could only stand up straight awkwardly.
Li Rusong continued:
"Tomorrow at dawn, Mo Qin and Lin Jun, come to the central army."
Mo Qin's heart skipped a beat, and Lin Jun's heart also stirred slightly.
After speaking, Li Rusong turned around and walked towards the tent.
After taking a few steps, as if remembering something, he called out loudly:
"Starting tonight, all three intersections on the east side will be converted to double guard posts."
"Orders are passed on in no more than three hands. If there's an extra hand, the person is taken down first."
"And... interrogate him until he's alive."
"I want to see who allowed the Japanese to infiltrate my camp."
"yes!"
Han Shouyi's shout was particularly harsh.
The crowd began to disperse, returning to their places.
Before Mo Qin and the others could move, a private message popped up in the lower right corner.
[Wolong is Chengdu: You're really daring.]
Mo Qin replied with two words.
[Central Nine-Headed Bird: Luckily, it didn't die.]
The other side quickly replied with another message.
[Wolong is from Chengdu: It's troublesome that you're not dead. Now it's not just Xu Qing watching you. Those who want to sabotage the Korean War will also be watching the four of you.]
After reading the message, Mo Qin thought to himself, "This is just nonsense. You don't need to say it!"
He knew without being reminded.
Liu Gao leaned closer and whispered, "Brother Qin, do we count as having struck it rich?"
"What?" Mo Qin asked.
"They've made it big."
Liu Gao tried to lower his voice, but it was trembling. "Li Shuai personally named them. Did they get the money this time?"
Holding his bow, Yan Qi unusually added, "People remembering you now doesn't necessarily mean they like you; they might just be wondering if you're worth dying for."
Liu Gao's lips twitched: "You really know how to pick your timing when you say that."
"I'm telling the truth."
"Can you tell less of the truth?"
"cannot."
Mo Qin's shoulder was still faintly hot; the toxins had not completely dissipated and seemed to have seeped into his blood.
He pressed the bandage on his wound and looked up at the tent.
Li Rusong has already entered the tent.
Han Shouyi stood not far away, sword in hand, and glanced in their direction.
"Mo Qin, Lin Jun."
"Don't keep me waiting until 5 AM tomorrow."
Mo Qin looked up and responded.
"Yes."
Lin Jun also bowed his head and clasped his hands.
"Yes."
