Chapter 561: Mortal vs Divinity [2]
Chapter 561: Mortal vs Divinity [2]
Naacht Zontax floated high above the plains, his golden hair whipping violently in the storm he had summoned. The storm clouds above condensed into a swirling vortex of pure divine energy.
From within the vortex, hundreds of glowing lightning spears materialized.
"Divine Judgment: Thousand Spears of Zontax!"
The spears rained down like a meteor shower of pure destruction.
Brandon’s eyes narrowed, and he looked like a dot in the sky in front of the spears.
With a grin, he dashed upward to meet the barrage head-on.
The silver blade in his hand glowed with a soft white light as he moved like a phantom through the storm of spears.
SWOOSH-! SWOOSH-!
With precise slashes, he cut down dozens of the divine spears mid-flight.
Explosions of holy lightning erupted across the enemy ranks, incinerating their own soldiers by the hundreds.
Naacht clapped his hands together. The remaining spears merged into a single colossal lance of crackling divine lightning, and he hurled it downward with a scream of rage.
"Perish, mortal!"
The giant lance screamed toward Brandon like the wrath of the heavens.
Looking at the attack, Brandon couldn’t help but smile "Can’t believe Elize killed lesser Divinities like this easily at her prime."
Brandon planted his feet in the air, ether flaring around him. He gripped the silver blade with both hands and swung it in a wide, upward arc.
CLAAAAAANG-!!!
The silver blade met the colossal lightning lance head-on.
The collision created a blinding explosion of light and sound that lit up the entire battlefield.
Shockwaves flattened grass for hundreds of meters and sent soldiers tumbling like leaves in a hurricane.
Horses reared and panicked. The ground itself cracked and buckled under the force.
When the light faded, Brandon was still floating with the sword in his hand.
Above him, a massive, perfectly straight line had been carved through the storm clouds, a clean cut that stretched across the sky for miles.
Sunlight poured through the opening like a divine spotlight, bathing the battlefield in brilliant golden rays and contrasting sharply with the dark, roiling storm surrounding it.
Camille looked up in awe, her short black hair fluttering in the wind "Master cleaved a line in the damn sky."
Scylla swung her axe in excitement "I wish I could also do something like that."
The Nubines soldiers’ morale plummeted.
Many dropped their weapons, staring up at the sky in terror and disbelief.
The sight of a single mortal man cutting through a God’s divine attack and slicing the very skies shattered their will to fight.
"W-What the hell are we witnessing...?"
"Fight between Gods...?"
"That man... he’s not human..."
The War General sat frozen on his horse, realizing too late that he had provoked something far beyond his empire’s ability to handle.
Lisette’s eyes condensed as she glanced at the crumbling enemy lines.
"The enemy’s morale is down now. Perfect chance to finish it quickly."
Scylla hefted her massive axe onto her shoulder, the blade still dripping with fresh blood.
"I will go and grab that duck’s head," she growled, looking at the Commander in the distance.
"Flank me."
Camille nodded "On your left."
Lisette moved to Scylla’s right. "On your right."
The three awakened women exploded forward.
Scylla led the charge, as she swung her axe in wide, devastating arcs.
The heavy blade cleaved through shields, armor, and bodies, sending soldiers flying in sprays of blood.
Camille darted like a shadow on her left as she slit the enemies’ throats.
Lisette moved on the right, her sword glowing with ether as she cut down anyone who tried to block their path.
The trio carved a bloody path straight toward the command group.
The Nubines soldiers scattered in panic. Some threw down their weapons and begged for mercy. Others simply ran.
The Commander finally snapped out of his stupor.
"Hold the line! Kill those wench-!"
His words died in his throat as Scylla reached him.
With a savage grin, she leaped high into the air with her axe raised above her head.
"Too late, duck!"
*SLEESH*
The axe came down with terrifying force.
The Commander barely managed to raise his sword in defense.
*crash* His blade shattered like glass and the axe continued downward, cleaving through his shoulder, torso, and horse in a single, unstoppable strike.
Blood and gore exploded outward as both he and the horse were split apart.
Scylla landed heavily, pulling her axe free from the bisected corpse with a wet, sickening sound.
She looked down at the Commander’s severed head with a satisfied grin.
"Got the duck’s head," she muttered, kicking it toward Camille.
Camille caught the head by the hair with one hand.
Lisette finished off the last few guards who tried to avenge their commander.
With the leadership dead and the army in full rout, the remaining Nubines forces broke completely.
Thousands fled in panic, discarding weapons and armor as they ran for their lives.
"Do not let a single one escape. Kill them all."
Hearing Brandon’s command from above, the three women nodded.
"Yes, Master!"
High above, Brandon continued his duel with Naacht Zontax.
The God was breathing heavily now, blood flowing from multiple deep wounds.
He glared down at Brandon with a mixture of hatred and fear "Are... you one of them? The Anomalies?" - [Chapter 451]
With a shrug, Brandon replied "I don’t think I am one of them."
"Anyway, let’s continue our fight."
As he spoke, a massive amount of ether poured out of his body, spreading across the battlefield ’Rheanne had a passive skill...’
’When she said she has unlimited ether, I thought she was joking.’
’But she has a skill that has the effect like every amount of ether I spend will come back at me.’
’So no matter how much ether I spend, it will all come back to me.’
Naacht sensed the power shift and raised his hand, summoning a massive vortex of divine lightning above him.
The vortex exploded outward, sending hundreds of crackling lightning chains hurtling toward Brandon.
Brandon charged straight through them.
SWOOSH-!
He closed the distance in a blink and slashed upward with the silver blade.
CLANG-!
Naacht barely blocked with his lance, but the force sent him spiraling backward through the air.
Brandon pressed the attack, appearing behind the God in a burst of speed and delivering a brutal spinning kick to his spine.
Naacht’s body arched violently as he was sent hurtling downward.
*THOOM*
He crashed into the ground with earth-shattering force, carving a deep trench hundreds of meters long through the battlefield.
Dirt, grass, and rock exploded outward in a massive cloud of debris.
Soldiers nearby were thrown off their feet by the shockwave.
Naacht rose shakily from the crater, blood pouring from his mouth and multiple deep wounds.
His golden hair was matted with blood and dust.
"You... insolent-!"
He clapped his hands together desperately.
The storm clouds above condensed violently into an enormous, glowing eye.
"Divine Gaze: Soul Rend!"
A concentrated beam of pure divine energy shot from the eye, aimed directly at Brandon’s soul.
Brandon’s eyes narrowed. He raised his sword and poured a massive amount of ether into it.
The blade ignited with a blinding white light, and he swung it in a wide, upward arc.
SHIIIIIIIING-!!
The silver blade met the beam head-on.
A blinding explosion of light and sound lit up the entire battlefield.
The beam was split cleanly in two and the divided energy exploded harmlessly on either side of Brandon, scorching the ground into craters.
The backlash struck the divine eye in the sky.
Cracks spiderwebbed across its surface before it shattered completely with a deafening CRACK, raining shards of divine light that dissolved into nothingness.
Naacht staggered in the air, clutching his head in pain as the backlash from his own technique ravaged his mind and soul.
But in the next instant, an invisible force slammed down on him.
THUD-!
Naacht was forced to his knees in mid-air, then slammed into the ground, feeling an overwhelming gravitational force crushing him downward.
"Urghh... Gravity...?" he gasped as he struggled against the invisible weight pinning him.
Brandon descended slowly from the skies, "It’s been a while since I used Eira’s skill."
Naacht looked up at him in anger, still struggling against the crushing gravity.
Brandon landed lightly a short distance away "You thought this world was defenseless after Rheanne ascended? You were wrong."
Naacht tried to rise, lightning crackling weakly around his body, but the gravity held him firmly in place.
Brandon raised the silver blade.
"This ends now."
Gritting his teeth, Naacht looked at Brandon and yelled "Do you really think this is the end?"
"After me, more Lesser Divinities will come to conquer this world. You cannot stop what is coming."
Brandon’s expression didn’t change "I know. I will kill them too."
Naacht’s eyes shook in visible horror "Even your Goddess would do the same!" he shouted.
"She would also go to other worlds and harvest their beliefs! She would conquer and claim just as we do! So what difference does-"
"I don’t give a single fuck."
Brandon replied in a cold voice without hesitation.
"If Rheanne is killing millions in other worlds, then I would stand with her. I don’t care about others."
"I only care about the people I love. The rest of the universe can burn for all I care."
Naacht stared at him, stunned into silence "Wait-"
The silver blade was already swinging downward in a clean, decisive arc.
SHIIIIING-!
The blade cleaved straight through Naacht’s neck.
The God’s head flew upward in a spray of blood, his eyes still wide with shock and disbelief even in death.
His body remained kneeling for a moment longer before collapsing lifelessly to the ground.
The divine aura around him flickered once... and vanished completely.
Silence fell across the battlefield.
The remaining Nubines soldiers stared in absolute horror at the fallen God.
Scylla let out a loud laugh as she cleaved through the last few soldiers.
"That’s our Master!"
Camille and Lisette stood nearby, breathing heavily, their weapons dripping with blood.
They looked up at Brandon with awe and unwavering loyalty.
"Master..."
Brandon lowered the silver blade, divine blood dripping from its edge.
"The three of you did well. From here on, I will clear the rest."
