Chapter 5

Chapter 5

"What the hell? People who have everything are always like that?" the man's voice died down as he settled on the pillow. It was a little tedious to explain to him the meaning of his words, so Jihong just let everyone stick to his opinion. While he was smoking in silence, the man suddenly stretched out on the couch, pressing his legs to his thigh, and said, "If you don't have a certain taste, then you can like anyone."

Jihon raised an eyebrow, silently expressing surprise.

A little embarrassed, the man continued, "Then what about me?"

Jihon stopped for a moment, pretending to think out of politeness, "It will be great if you want to see me sometimes and spend the night. But asking me out on dates would be superfluous."

"Why not?" Do you have a loved one?

Jihong couldn't help but laugh and replied, "No, of course not. Do you think I'm someone who would do that with a long-term partner?"

"Who knows. I have seen many people do this, despite the fact that they have a wife and children. But you don't look like them, that's why I asked," the man belatedly added.

"I don't have a loved one," Jihong said firmly. - And in the future, I do not plan to enter into such a relationship. That's why I slept with you, even though we met yesterday."

"Hmm, why aren't you looking for love?"

"It just doesn't seem to suit me," Jihon replied, exhaling cigarette smoke. "I've met a few times in college, but it's a little bit not for me."

He is not obliged to tell the story of his love to the first person he meets. But Jihong thought it would be funny to explain everything in detail to a person he would reject anyway. However, the man was skeptical.

"Maybe you just don't like me?" - the young man thought that Jihon was looking for excuses.

"I don't even know you well enough to love or not love. Jihon grinned, shaking off the ashes. "I don't know anything about you except your work and your distinguishing features."

When Jihong was about to express sympathy, the man said sharply, "You know I'm a beta."

"Does it matter at all?" said Jihong as if it were obvious. "Alphas are usually only interested in omegas," the guy added, thereby making him smile. Then, taking another puff, Jihong asked, "Do I look like an alpha?"

"Huh...? Isn't it? The man's eyes widened, and he pressed his foot on Jihon's thigh. "Oh, don't tease me, tell me the truth."

Assistant Manager Nam explained in a low voice, "It seems that Kava has agreed to fulfill all of Kwon Jaekyung's demands. However, when it came time to draw up the contract, they began to change the terms, trying to use tricks and tricks."

Although the athletes knew they were being scammed by such a gigantic agency, they couldn't ignore the company's benefits, which included impeccable management and a viral marketing strategy. And in the end, they will believe their words: "We are the best in our industry. Other companies will never be able to achieve the same success as we do. And now no one can offer such favorable conditions. There are many reasons why all athletes work with us."

Others could not give the same starting fee as Kava does, although in the long run it would have been much more profitable by setting a high payout ratio for athletes. However, even Kava won't have the courage to clash with Kwon Jae-kyung. At best, they will simply reduce the down payment or change their place of residence from Gangnam to Songpu.

"In any case, Kwon Jaekyung will sign a contract with them. People say that if you negotiate with Kava, you will end up staying there.

"Hmm..., is that so?"

— Of course

Jihong spoke persuasively, claiming that even if Kwon Jaekyung didn't stay with them, he wouldn't agree to work with another company. Even if the agencies, getting into debt, are ready to pay a huge amount as a down payment, just to attract it. However, the CEO of the Jihona company would probably offer standard terms without trying to imitate others.

"It's not surprising, even if he doesn't sign with Kava, there's no way he's going to partner with a start-up agency like us," the assistant manager said, clicking his tongue.

Jihon waited patiently for his computer to complete the security update process. When he finally got online and checked his business email, Assistant Manager Nam continued, "Well, there's not much reason to get into the fight, but it's worth a try. I wonder if the CEO will intervene personally?"

Jihong rather wondered if the CEO would have time to meet with Kwon Jaekyung before anyone else had the opportunity. The behind-the-scenes competition between agencies for Kwon Jae-kyung had been going on for three years. Immediately after his victory in the Olympic Games, many major domestic and foreign agencies chased him like a goose laying golden eggs.

There were rumors that Kwon Jaekyung simply gave up everything as if he didn't need it. This caused a number of problems for those who supported him in the Korean Swimming Federation. Representatives of the federation tried to act as intermediaries between Kwon Jaekyung and the agencies, but the lack of normal communication between the athlete and the companies only led to absurd situations. This caused rumors that the young athlete remained unpredictable even after personal meetings. However, Kwon Jaekyung was not bothered by this at all.

People advised him not to miss such an opportunity. Even if he is not going to sign a contract with anyone, then at least let him star in advertising on his own. Realizing the pressure the company would put on him, he ignored everyone and immediately returned to Australia to continue training.

Unless it's an official team press conference or a short on-site interview immediately after the competition, he won't talk to anyone. In short, he is an athlete who was interested in nothing but sports.

However, three years after the Olympics, Kwon Jaekyung finally decided to cooperate. It was reported that he arrived early at the Pacific Swimming Championships in Incheon in early September. Athletes usually arrived at the competition site about a week before the event. Kwon Jaekyung had done the same thing so far, but this time he had entered the country two months earlier. Reporters claimed that he arrived in a hurry as the competition was held in his home country and he wanted to spend time with his family, but others thought it was due to a contract with a well-known Korean agency.

Soon after, it was leaked that the famous company is none other than Kava. Since they had been very enthusiastic about recruiting Kwon Jaekyung for three years, no one was even surprised. However, a company spokesperson said: "This is not confirmed information. Yes, we've reached out to Kwon Jaekyung, but it's too early to talk about collaboration."

When the agency's position became known, the entire industry stirred again. In any case, the contract had not been signed, but now it was important that Kwon Jaekyung just agreed. People here and there were going crazy saying, "Let's get in touch with him. Let's catch Kwon Jaekyung, even if we have to go into a lot of debt." But Jihon felt that it was as impossible as winning the lottery. No matter what kind of contract other companies offered, Kwon Jae-kyung would end up working with Kava.
