Chapter 73 Doom 7
Chapter 73 Doom 7
The red light pulsed, bathing the temple in an eerie glow. Mother stood there, a twisted smile on her face, holding Vell's heart, or what was left of it, in her hand. The sight made Yenna's blood boil. She felt a surge of rage unlike anything she had ever experienced before. Her body trembled, not from fear, but from the sheer force of her anger.
His kids were in shock, unable to process what they just saw.
'He... he was right there,' she thought, her mind racing, 'he was hurting, and i did nothing. No... that's not right, no... no...I... I will tear that thing apart.' She looked up at Mother, her eyes narrowed, 'that fucking thing dared to hurt him, it will pay.'
Wren, Mia, and Sia were equally enraged. They had seen their dad, their Bestfriend, their family, being tortured and killed. They had never felt so helpless, but they were going to do something, they were going to make that creature pay.
"You... you monster!" Yenna yelled, her voice raw with fury. She lunged forward, her gauntlets glowing with an intense light. She didn't care about strategy, she didn't care about plans. She just wanted to hurt the monster, to make her feel the pain she had caused. She launched a flurry of punches, each strike fueled by her anger.
Mother simply chuckled, a low, mocking sound that echoed through the temple. She flicked her hand, and Yenna went flying again, crashing into the wall with even more force than before. She coughed, pain blooming in her chest, but she didn't give up, she picked herself up, her eyes locked on Mother.
Wren, Mia, and Sia attacked next, their small bodies moving with incredible speed and ferocity. Wren's claws shimmered with a dark aura, while Mia and Sia bit and clawed with unmatched intensity. But their attacks were ineffective. Mother simply swatted them away like flies, barely acknowledging their presence.
"Is that all you have?" Mother asked, her voice dripping with disdain. She looked at the heart she was still holding, "He was such a beautiful creation, I can not wait to mold all of you into his form
' I don't have much time, this temporary vessel wont hold for long.' She thought, her eyes scanning the room.
She squeezed the heart, dark mana swirling around her. The red light intensified, and the room started to tremble. The symbols on the walls glowed brighter, and the corrupted mana in the air thickened. It felt like the temple itself was reacting to Mother's power, becoming a weapon.
"It seems i had a little bit of fun before getting serious, my bad," she said and started to move her hands in an odd motion, a dark circle started to form in front of her. "Now, let's end this quickly, i still need to work on his corpse."
Yenna's heart sank. They were outmatched, outgunned, and completely at the mercy of this monster. She looked around at Wren, Mia, and Sia, all hurt and tired. She felt like giving up, like it was pointless, but she quickly shook her head. 'No... i cant do that, I will not give up, not now, not ever, I will never let him down again.'
But just as they were about to launch their attack, something happened. A flicker of movement, a barely perceptible shift in the air. It was faint, almost like a shadow dancing at the edge of their vision.
A low growl came from the floor, followed by a loud thud. The red light shifted and the darkness started to recede, revealing something unbelievable.
Mother was unable to make a sound, her eyes wide with terror. She tried to fight back, she used her power, she used everything she had but nothing worked, he simply held her in place while the shadows did the rest.
Yenna, Wren, Mia, and Sia stared at him in shock and horror. This was the same Vell that they knew, but it was also completely different, it was like a new person was born out of that darkness.
He was not holding back.
"Vell?" Yenna whispered, her voice trembling. She took a step back, scared of him and the power he was emitting. She felt like she was looking at a different person.
A monster.
Wren just looked on, observing everything and trying to process all the information. Mia and Sia looked like they were going to faint at any given moment.
The shadows finished their job, and the room was silent again. The red light faded, and the only thing that remained was the new Vell and a feeling of dread.
He dropped Mother's mangled corpse on the floor, the sound echoing in the now-silent temple, and looked at his hands with a confused expression.
"Well," he said, his voice sounding more like his own, but still cold, "that was... unexpected."
He then turned his gaze to the group, a soft smile appearing on his lips, "So, did I do good?"
Yenna, still shaking from fear, couldn't help but smile back at him. Yes, he did good, he always does good.
"You were amazing," she replied, her voice shaking. She could feel her heart thumping in her chest, a mix of fear, relief, and something else she couldn't quite name.
"Welcome back... Vell."
He smiled at her, a genuine smile that made her heart flutter, and she knew, no matter what happens, she would always be by his side, even if he turned into the most dangerous being in the whole world.
He was still her Vell.
