Zhou Ye shrugged.
“I just told her that as Chris’s former colleague, she might know something.”
Gil hesitated for a moment.
"After the mansion incident, Chris believed that there was an Umbrella mole within the Raccoon City Police Department and that it was dangerous for him to stay there, so he chose to leave and go to Europe to investigate Umbrella's Paris branch."
"Europe?" Claire was stunned.
"Didn't he tell you?" Jill retorted.
Claire shook her head, her face filled with worry and confusion.
"No... He just said he needed to leave for a while to take care of some things, and told me not to worry. I couldn't get in touch with him, so I came to Raccoon City to look for him..."
It seems Chris didn't reveal much information to protect his sister.
"Is he safe now?" Claire pressed.
“I can’t be sure,” Jill answered truthfully. “I know absolutely nothing about the situation in Europe. But Umbrella’s influence is all over the world, and he alone…”
She did not continue.
Lyon listened from the side, his expression growing increasingly grave.
Umbrella, the mole, global influence...
This information shocked his understanding as a rookie police officer.
"Alright, let's talk about these things after we're safely out of here," Zhou Ye interrupted their conversation.
He looked at Jill.
"What do you want to talk to me about?"
Jill's gaze swept across the surroundings.
Although there were fewer people at the checkpoint, there were still robotic soldiers patrolling, and other survivors were in the distance.
Is this a convenient location?
Zhou Ye shrugged indifferently.
"If you don't mind being listened to."
Jill paused for a moment.
She walked up to Zhou Ye and lowered her voice.
"【Pioneer Star】, who exactly are you people?"
"We are mercenaries from the [Pioneer Star] organization."
Zhou Ye's answer was the same as that of 315.
"I do not believe."
Jill immediately denied it, saying, "Your equipment, your organizational skills, and this evacuation plan... this is something that ordinary mercenaries could never do."
"Whether you believe it or not is your freedom."
Zhou Ye looked at her. "We provided assistance and a way to evacuate. That's enough, isn't it?"
0 ...... 0
"What is the purpose?"
Jill pressed on, "You came to Raccoon City, taking such great risks, you couldn't have come just to save us insignificant survivors."
Zhou Ye smiled, a smile that Jill couldn't understand.
Would you believe me if I said it was a mission?
"The mission... could it be the T-virus, or something from Umbrella?"
"I have absolutely no interest in those things, whether it's viruses, parasites, or the like."
Zhou Ye's gaze drifted into the distance, to the survivors who waited numbly.
"As for the risks... for us, they may not be as great as you imagine."
His tone was calm, yet it conveyed a powerful sense of confidence.
Jill's heart sank.
This confidence stems from strength.
The power possessed by the boy before her, and the [Pioneer Star] behind him, might have exceeded her imagination.
When does the train depart?
Jill changed the subject.
"It was announced on the radio that it would happen in six hours."
Zhou Ye replied, "Time is running out. Umbrella's men, along with other cleanup forces, could come knocking at any moment."
He glanced at his watch.
"You'd better settle down as soon as possible and replenish your strength. The road ahead won't be peaceful."
Jill didn't ask any more questions.
She knew that she wouldn't get the truthful answer if she kept asking.
Zhou Ye, or rather the organization "Pioneer Star," is hiding too many secrets.
But it seems that for them, it is indeed the only way out.
She nodded and turned to leave.
"Jill," Zhou Ye called out to her.
Jill turned around.
"Protect Lyon and Claire."
Zhou Ye said,
"They are important figures."
"what?"
Jill didn't understand.
"nothing."
Zhou Ye waved his hand.
“I mean, they’re important. Especially Claire, she’s Chris’s sister.”
Jill gave Zhou Ye a deep look, said nothing more, and walked towards the direction where the police inspector and the others were, filled with questions.
Lyon and Claire followed.
Watching Gil's departing figure, Nami moved closer to Zhou Ye.
"It seems that this Miss STARS is quite interested in us."
She twirled her long orange hair with her fingers, her tone slightly playful.
"Anyone with a brain would have questions."
Zhou Ye said calmly.
Nanlixiang opened her mouth, her voice cold.
"Should we dispose of it?"
Her hand rested on the gun handle.
They used to be colleagues, but now they are marked by Zhou Ye and have severed ties with the past.
Zhou Ye shook his head.
"Not for now; many things in the future are related to her."
"Let's go, I'll go check on the train."
Chapter 72: Honkai Technology, Breathtaking and Awe-inspiring
Zhou Ye looked at Nan Lixiang in the distance, who was talking anxiously with her best friend, Ju Chuan Shizuka.
"Nan Lixiang."
Zhou Ye's voice wasn't loud, but it carried clearly.
Nanri Kaori turned around abruptly and saw Zhou Ye gesturing for her to come over. She said something to Shizuka Marikawa and quickly walked over.
"You can say goodbye to Shizuka Marikawa."
Zhou Ye's tone was flat, revealing no emotion.
"After leaving Raccoon City, I don't know when we'll meet again."
Nanri Kaori's vibrant, dark-skinned face suddenly fell.
She seemed completely unprepared for the long separation she might face with Shizuka Marikawa.
"Shizuka, she..."
Nanli Xiang's voice was somewhat hoarse.
"Shizuka's medical skills are quite good, sir. Would you want her?"
She mustered her courage, looked at Zhou Ye, and pleaded with him.
Zhou Ye looked Nan Lixiang up and down.
This woman, a former policewoman from Raccoon City and Yuriko Takagi's bodyguard, possesses a remarkable tenacity.
"I am not a good guy."
Zhou Ye spoke.
"If she's willing, I wouldn't mind letting her join [Pioneer Star]."
