Chapter 462 Emergency Button
"The place where Polaris Lorna is imprisoned is four corridors away from here; it's in that direction."
Connors points the way to the purple-haired girl, Sparkling Clarice.
Completely different from her purple-skinned, pink-haired appearance in the comics, the pretty Clarice standing in front of him had the same skin tone as a normal person, or even a little fairer, except for a few scattered purple patterns on her cheeks and forehead.
Her long purple hair was styled into a loose side braid, and she even bit the ends of her hair in her mouth for easier movement.
Upon hearing Connors's directions, Blink Clarice nodded slightly, then forcefully grasped at the air with both hands, and a ball of purple light appeared out of thin air, quickly spreading into a portal.
On the other side of the portal was the place where Polaris Lorna was imprisoned.
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
A furious shout rang out as a nearby prison guard on guard duty spotted the two men. He immediately raised his weapon and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Connors raised one hand, and his palm transformed into a dazzling diamond, deflecting all the incoming bullets with a clang.
"Let's go," Blink Clarice whispered, pulling Connors into the portal.
The prison guard who remained behind cursed under his breath and immediately picked up his walkie-talkie to call for backup, but the entire Garland prison suddenly shook violently, followed by a wave of heat and bright light that engulfed the guard.
The explosive energy of the sound-to-light conversion by the shimmering sound completely exploded, and other mutants stormed into the prison to draw fire, buying time for Connors and Blink Clarice to rescue Polaris Lorna.
Almost at the same moment the prison was attacked, a piercing alarm blared through the night.
Although the prison guards were thrown into chaos by Omega's bizarre abilities, his ability to forget things after seeing them meant that the alarm was never sounded.
But the arrival of Thunderbird John, Eclipse Max, Skin-Changing Peggy, and Radiant Alison was made without any attempt to conceal it. After an initial moment of panic, the prison guards immediately grabbed their weapons and went into combat mode.
In the underground laboratory of Garland Prison, the scientific research team was plunged into darkness as Omega pulled the switch, but as the alarm sounded, the backup power was activated, and red lights began to flash wildly.
Surprisingly, the scientists showed no panic whatsoever; instead, their faces lit up with excitement. The elderly professor at the head of the group, with his completely white hair, exclaimed with fervor, "Prison attacked? Excellent!"
The other scientists in the lab were also all smiles.
In front of them were more than a dozen operating tables, each with a mutant lying on it.
Judging from the bloodstains and shiny black cloth on the operating table, it's hard to imagine how many mutants have succumbed to the strain on that surface.
"I originally thought we'd have to wait until we declared war on the Inhumans to use it, but I never expected that some foolish mutants would come knocking on our door."
The white-haired old professor chuckled, took a few quick steps to a corner of the laboratory, and pressed a button there.
Next to the button is a sign that reads, "Emergency button, to be touched only in extremely dangerous situations."
However, the old professor didn't care. What he cared about was the powerful weapon that had been slowly activated and was heading towards him after he pressed the button.
That was the research result of the Sentinel Research Team. With the help of these mutants who attacked Garland Prison, the old professor wanted to let the government leaders see the power of the weapon firsthand, so that they would increase their funding.
The anomalies at Garan Prison would have gone unnoticed by ordinary people hundreds of kilometers away.
However, for the Inhumans living in the Blue Zone of the Moon, the intense energy fluctuations were exceptionally noticeable.
"Queen Medusa, should we intervene? Should we take this opportunity to wipe out most of the mutants and Sentinels here?"
Maximus, Black Bolt's brother, knelt down and asked for instructions.
He resented his brother Black Bolt, but he had no complaints about Medusa's temporary rule—or rather, he temporarily hid his ambitions before finding Black Bolt.
"No, I have a premonition that Garland Prison will soon become a battlefield where mutants and humans clash," Queen Medusa said, sitting on her throne and gently shaking her head.
"If the mutants really succeed in breaking into the prison, five or six hundred mutants would definitely be a force to be reckoned with. If it weren't for the Terrigen Mist weakening the mutants, humans would never have been able to imprison so many mutants at once."
Maximus said he has been a proponent of war from the beginning.
"I told you, wait and see. Maximus, are you challenging my authority?" Queen Medusa's red hair fluttered, as if she were ready to tear him to pieces at the slightest provocation.
Just as Maximus frowned inwardly, an Inhuman sentinel suddenly reported: "Your Majesty! Strangely shaped aircraft have been detected taking off from multiple locations on Earth, all targeting Garan Prison."
Queen Medusa's spirits lifted; her guess had indeed been correct.
Having captured so many mutants, humanity will surely try to study their abilities and then create weapons for humankind.
I just don't know how powerful these weapons are.
Maximus was stunned for a moment, not expecting Queen Medusa's prophecy to come so quickly, before he was overjoyed.
On the ground, inside Garland Prison, Connors and Blinking Clarice jumped out of the purple portal.
Before them was a transparent cage, inside which a thin figure was crouching motionless in a corner, his arms wrapped around his knees.
"Lorna? Lorna!"
"Blink!" Clarice whispered, banging on the transparent cage to attract Lorna's attention.
Hearing the noise, the thin figure slowly raised his head from between his knees, revealing a face with delicate features but a slightly aggressive look.
She was indeed Polaris Lorna; the barely noticeable hair sticking out of her hair by Connors confirmed her identity.
"Open this thing and let me out." Polaris Lorna curled her lip at the transparent cage.
"I'll do it."
Clarice readily agreed, a flash of purple light appearing in her hand.
Normally, a purple portal should appear in front of Polaris Lorna, but it doesn't.
This transparent cage, made of some unknown material, actually blocked Clarice's ability to blink.
"Huh?" Clarice exclaimed in surprise, looking at the transparent cage with disbelief.
"This is the latest invention from human research; it can isolate mutants from using their abilities," Polaris Lorna said lazily, seemingly unconcerned about her situation.
Connors refused to believe it; his ability wasn't from a genetic mutation. He simply transformed into a diamond and punched the attacker.
