Chapter 400 The Psychologist of Devil Town

The new reward for being a gossipmonger is "Cosmic Connection," which allows you to explore even universes that Connors has never been to before.

Connor deliberately chose a world where even the word "superhero" didn't exist, intending to take Zatanna and Wanda on a vacation.

After three or four days of sightseeing, Zatanna suggested:

"I want to find a city to perform magic, which will help me control the magic."

Connors naturally wouldn't refuse Zatanna's suggestion, so on the fifth day, the three of them stopped at this inconspicuous little town.

Their destination was not this small town, but a city more than 100 kilometers away.

The reason they stopped was that Zatanna, Earth's third-ranked sorceress, and Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, simultaneously noticed something strange about the town:

This place, called Hayden Falls, seems ordinary to most people, but Wanda and her friend discover that it's teeming with demons.

They disguised themselves as humans, walking in the sunlight, going to and from get off work, drinking and fishing.

Zatanna visited Hell during Earth-3, and she instinctively loathed those creatures who should be there.

Just as she was about to unleash a bolt of lightning to obliterate the town, Connors stopped her:

"Zucker, calm down. Do you know how I usually act when I first arrive in a new world?"

Zatanna obediently stopped her ironic sign language and looked at Connors with curiosity.

"Neither you nor I know why these demons disguise themselves as human towns, nor do we know whether the demons in this world are good or evil. Every world is different. If you only look at things from your own known perspective, it will affect your standards for judging things."

"Besides, the purpose of your trip with me is to relax, so just leave everything to me."

Connors said:

"Zaz, aren't you going to perform a magic show? Let's do it in this small town."

Zatanna nodded. She was also quite curious about this devilish town, and immediately pulled Wanda along to find a place together.

But Wanda broke free from Zatanna's grasp and stayed close to Connors:

"I'm not interested in demons. I want to stay by your side and see how you deal with this kind of problem."

"It's simple, just play it by ear," Connors said.

Zatanna bid farewell to the two and headed into the town towards the usual magic venue.

There was obviously no stage for her here, so Zatanna could only try to find a more open space to perform her magic show outdoors.

Connors led Wanda through the town, stopping and starting as they went. Since they already knew this was Devil Town, neither of them had any interest in the street food or handicrafts.

Connors walked all the way to the end of the town's main street without finding anything interesting, but he did see an empty two-story building with a sign for psychological counseling.

There is a sofa against the wall on the first floor, and a desk opposite the sofa.

"I've made up my mind. I'm going to become a psychologist in this devilish town." Connors sat down in the chair behind the desk, casually conjured up a white coat, and said in a very professional manner.

Wanda was taken aback:

"And what about me?"

Connors tossed a pristine white nurse's uniform with a flick of his wrist.

"You can be my little assistant. Although I don't know if psychologists have assistants, or if they wear nurse uniforms or anything like that."

But you'll look great in it.

Wanda stared blankly at the nurse's uniform in her hands. It was more like a bodycon skirt than a nurse's uniform, the kind that clearly outlined the body's curves.

Connors then took a white silk stocking from the Mystery House and put it on Wanda, and helped her put on her nurse's cap.

So, Wanda, who was wearing a black and red robe and looking like a dark queen just minutes before, has now become a delicate little nurse, and her shy and timid appearance makes Connors feel hot.

"Don't just stand there, come over here and let me hear your heartbeat." Connors pulled Wanda over.

Wanda's face was already flushed from the close-fitting style of her nurse's uniform. When Connors grabbed her arm, she leaned against him as if she had no bones left in her body.

This is Devil Town. The people coming and going outside the counseling room are not human, but neither of the two people inside cares.

Just as they were whispering sweet nothings to each other, a man in a leather jacket walked in, sat down on the sofa against the wall with his head down, and held his head in his hands as if he had a headache.

Are you here for psychological counseling?

Connors gently pressed Wanda's head down, making her crawl under the desk, while asking the man in the leather jacket a question.

The man didn't speak, he just continued to cover his head.

Connors keenly noticed a scar where he had covered his head with his hand and asked:

"Does your head hurt?"

"Yes, it hurts a lot, like something is trying to crawl in or out." The man slowly lowered his hand, still looking down as he spoke.

I can open your skull and see if Connors feels he should play the role of "the psychiatrist of Devil Town":

"How did you sleep last night?"

He had only asked casually, but to his surprise, the man in the leather jacket fell silent for more than five minutes before finally speaking:

"Night? Night—it's very long."

Connors' eyes lit up. Was there some interesting news? He subconsciously activated Athena's Vision and discovered that this man was different from the residents of Demon Town.

He is the only human being here.

"Tell me more about it?" Connors asked, adopting a gossipy, spectator-like stance.

He specifically chose this world without superheroes to vacation with Zatanna and Wanda.

There are no superheroes, but demons do exist among humans, as does this human who lives in Demon Town.

Connors didn't dislike these accidental discoveries; on the contrary, he was quite curious about them.

The man in the leather jacket slowly began his story:

"Whenever I fall asleep by consuming large amounts of alcohol, my brain goes completely black, like a highway at midnight."

"I have nowhere to go but to keep going forward through this endless darkness until dawn."

Wanda, hiding under the desk, began working like a diligent little bee. Seeing the man in the leather jacket stop, Connors kept his tone calm and said:

"What if you just go to sleep without drinking?"

The man looked up at Connors, a chilling, sinister smile on his face:

"You don't drink?"

Connors remained unmoved by the man's bitter smile.

"When I fall asleep without drinking, nightmares find me."

As darkness fell outside, the man slowly raised his head, and the fiery clouds reflected in his eyes seemed like real flames burning.
