Chapter 366 That's Right
Lucy's hometown is a farm, where her mother and six brothers are cuddling together in the yard.
Armored soldiers wielding spears closed in on them, ready to kill them on the spot as punishment for those who questioned their new king.
"Lucy, my dear child, if you are still alive, you must escape and leave this country."
"Although I strongly opposed you taking up a sword alone to avenge our father, the facts have proven that you were right. You will be the only surviving member of our family."
Lucy's mother's tears soaked her clothes as she choked back sobs and murmured to herself.
Beside her mother, her six older brothers gritted their teeth, each holding a kitchen knife, a wood-chopping knife, a stone, and a wooden stick.
Even though they knew they were no match for the well-equipped royal guards, they still did not choose to surrender.
"Come on! You scum!" they shouted angrily.
At this moment, a hundred miles away, Connors looked at Lucy and asked:
Do you want to save them?
Lucy fiercely wiped the tears from her face with her dirty sleeve, gritting her teeth as she said:
"The night before I left home, they were yelling loudly about my father's revenge."
"The roar contained both nobility and complaint, as if simply doing so would bring the father back to life."
"Verbal complaints are better than being beheaded and displayed after a failed revenge, so they keep complaining—"
Connors looked at Lucy in surprise.
With his power, he could know about any movement on this planet if he wanted to. At this moment, Lucy's family was on the verge of death, and Lucy, who had invited him and Kara to her home not long ago, seemed to have no intention of saving them.
"Lucy, listen carefully." Kara also sensed something was off about the tone of the conversation. She frowned and advised, "I know your family's weakness makes you angry, but believe me, they are the only family you have left in this world. They did nothing wrong."
"If it were me, I would do anything to protect them."
"And their weakness and their skepticism toward the new king—you should see for yourself."
Connors turned his gaze to Kara with surprise, feeling that Kara seemed to know some of the truth behind Lucy's father's murder.
He also knew the truth, but it was not appropriate for others to say it; only Luce could investigate it herself.
"I know, I understand," Lucy said. "I beg you to save them, as a way of repaying them for raising me."
"This poor kid—" Connors shook his head with amusement, exchanging a glance with "Supergirl" Carla.
The sun in the sky turned yellow once again, and its scorching rays shone on the earth. Kara, holding Lucy, soared into the sky. Behind Connors, the black smoke cloak was ethereal and followed Kara into the sky.
The bar was only a hundred miles from Lucy's old farm. With Lucy pointing the way, the three of them arrived at their destination in a second. "Count to three, two, one with me, and let's rush out together to clear a path for Mother."
Lucy's eldest brother spoke in a low voice to his five brothers, a resolute and ruthless look in his eyes.
The five brothers showed no fear, only an expression of resignation to their fate.
"Three, two—"
Just as they were about to use their bodies to block the spears, and perhaps even stab the eyes of the kingdom's soldiers with the machetes and sticks they were holding, the sky suddenly changed color.
The sky has changed several times since this morning, but they have no time to appreciate this miraculous scene. They are about to rush out.
But then a deafening roar exploded in the sky, and when they instinctively looked up, they saw two figures bathed in the yellow light of the sun descending from above.
Like a god.
The soldiers wielding spears froze, their legs trembling as they looked at the two figures who seemed like gods descending to earth, on the verge of kneeling. But then, Lucy's six brothers suddenly cried out:
"Lucy!"
They saw Kara holding her younger sister, Luce.
Connors and the other two landed slowly on the ground. As Lucy watched her remaining family members' expressions change constantly, she finally couldn't help but rush over, hugging her mother and brothers and bursting into tears.
"I thought I would never see you again, my child!" Lucy's mother hugged her daughter tightly.
Lucy knew this wasn't the time to break down in tears. She struggled free from their embrace and looked at Kara and Connors, saying:
"Please save my family! I'm willing to pay any price!"
Connors stood still, and Kara remained motionless as well, but instead said:
"no."
Luce said anxiously:
Why?
"Because rescuing them like this will not only prevent your family from being reunited, but it will also force you to leave your home and sever ties with your family afterward," Kara said. "That's not what I want to see."
Lucy couldn't understand why Kara would suddenly change her mind when they had agreed on things beforehand. She looked at Connors but found that he had no intention of helping either.
"Lucy, you still hate us for not avenging our father, don't you?" one of Lucy's brothers suddenly asked.
Lucy nodded.
"Mother, you can tell her the truth now—the truth about Father's questioning of the King and the truth about why we never sought revenge," the older brother said, turning to his mother. "I don't want misunderstandings to remain between family members until the very end."
Lucy stared blankly at her mother. She only knew that her father had questioned the new king, but she knew nothing about what had happened behind the scenes.
"Your father learned from a passing merchant that the new king enjoys eating young girls raw, and has therefore ordered his army to search for girls to offer as tribute to him."
"Even though we always keep you dirty, Krim still notices. Your father tried his best to stop it but was killed."
Lucy was stunned. This was completely different from what she knew. Until just now, she had thought that her father's death was due to his weakness and disloyalty to the king.
"And what about the brothers?" Lucy asked in a trembling voice.
"They suffer just as much as you do. They train day and night to improve their strength and martial arts, hoping one day to kill the king instead of dying in vain."
Her mother's words struck Lucy like a thunderbolt. Only now did she understand what her family had done for her, and how she had foolishly believed...
She knelt heavily before her mother and brothers, begging for forgiveness, then turned to Carla and Connors, pleading once again from the bottom of her heart for them to save her family.
Connors turned his gaze to Kara:
"When did you find out about this?"
"The last time you altered the sun and restored my powers," Kara said, "I had super hearing and super thinking. What about you?"
"I have one too," Connors said.
The two looked again at Lucy, who was sincerely trying to save her family:
"That's right."
"Supergirl" Kara flashed a sunny smile, her long golden hair shimmering in the sunlight, and she clenched her fists as she charged toward the soldiers.
