Chapter 30 Novel Methods of Theft

Catwoman slammed on the brakes without warning, and Connors, sitting in the back, was thrown forward by the inertia.

"Uh—" Selena was jolted and momentarily lost her composure, but thankfully she hadn't forgotten why she had stopped the car.

"Can you ride a motorcycle? You go ahead," she said to Connors, who was still unaware of what was happening.

Connors didn't refuse and nodded in agreement: "No problem."

As he sat in front, a soft body immediately pressed against him from behind. Fortunately, his physical abilities had greatly improved, and Connors also understood why "Catwoman" Selena Kyle had wanted to switch seats with him:

It's so crowded sitting in the front!

The seats were too cramped, and the two of them were squeezed together. Coupled with the poor road conditions and constant bumping, Selena was extremely uncomfortable. However, after they changed seats, it was Connors' turn to be uncomfortable.

Back then, Monkey King could carry two mountains on his shoulders without batting an eye, so my two mere snow-capped mountains are nothing. Connors shifted his attention away from Selena.

Although the "eating melon" mission has not yet offered any rewards related to driving skills, due to the limits of human reaction speed, Connors was actually much more stable than "Catwoman" Selena, even when he twisted the throttle of the motorcycle to the floor.

The speed was incomparable; the journey, which originally lasted nearly an hour, was shortened to forty minutes.

Wayne Manor looks majestic and mysterious at night.

They hid the motorcycle not far from the manor, and the two of them quickly approached, one after the other, until they reached the base of the castle wall.

Selena pulled a folded map from her outer thigh, marked a room on it, and said to Connors.

"This is a map of the estate that I got from a plumber. The target this time is this room, which contains a painting that Bruce Wayne acquired at auction last month."

"I was here once before. The paintings in that room were kept in a separate glass case, and opening it would trigger an alarm."

"I'll handle the theft. You'll be responsible for moving the painting. When the glass case is opened, you'll provide cover through the ventilation duct. Then you don't need to worry about me. Just go to the rooftop of Joseph's Jewelry Store and wait for me."

"I am confident I can escape."

'

"They came fully prepared," Connors said noncommittally.

"Catwoman" acted first, taking a grappling hook from her waist, aiming it upwards, and then silently firing it. She then leaped up to the top with the agility of a wildcat.

As she stood on the castle wall, ready to throw down the rope, and La Connors came up, she saw him easily open the castle gate and walk in casually.

"..." Selena was momentarily confused. How could this person open the door so easily? As if he were back in his own home?

Could it be that the door is broken or the alarm system is malfunctioning?

Selena's mind raced, but she didn't follow Connors through the main door. Instead, she quickly darted and weaved across the rooftop, heading towards the room where the painting was.

"You saw me come in? I thought I could hide it from you." Connors answered a phone on the wall after he entered, and laughed as he heard Bruce Wayne's voice on the other end.

"--If you'd like, I think you should be able to easily infiltrate this manor," Bruce Wayne said on the other end of the phone.

"I'm not that good," Connors said modestly. He couldn't actually become invisible, and his little tricks were useless against the ubiquitous cameras in the manor.

"I've already sent Alfred to meet you. Please come to the Batcave." Bruce Wayne seemed to be speaking as Batman, his voice deep and hoarse.

The butler, Alfred, arrived even faster than Connors had anticipated.

A few minutes after the phone call ended, the butler, whose hair was white but who was in good spirits, opened a door leading to one side of the manor:

"Young Master Patterson, please. Young Master Wayne originally intended to invite you yesterday, but the people from Arkham said you went there and took a nap."

The old butler's first words to Connors were still a joke, which Connors didn't mind. He followed the butler to a study and then took a hidden elevator to the Bat Cave.

Bruce Wayne was still wearing that exoskeleton, facing several huge screens.

The screen displayed surveillance footage, one of which showed "Catwoman" Selena trying to open the ventilation duct of the room where the painting was located.

"Did you come with her? Was your only goal this painting?" Bruce Wayne asked, pointing to the surveillance footage.

"Yes, that's right," Connors readily admitted. "Strictly speaking, I came here with her to watch the fun."

"What's so great about this? If you want it, I'll give it to you." Bruce Wayne, true to his wealthy nature, was about to give away the painting that had been auctioned for over three million US dollars last month.

.....

Connors, who had never seen three million dollars in his two lifetimes combined, paused for a moment, then asked, "Can I cash it out?"

"?" Bruce Wayne was momentarily unable to keep up with Connors's train of thought.

Connors had just said it casually, then walked over to the old man and looked at the monitor:

"If you keep arguing with me like this, she's going to steal your painting right away."

Bruce Wayne said nonchalantly:

"It's alright. From the moment she entered Wayne Manor, based on her route, I knew she got the map from the plumbers who were working here."

"That was deliberately leaked, and everything in this room was placed there to scare away the thieves."

"This is truly Batman," Connors, the eternal mastermind of the Justice League, thought with admiration, though he said aloud:

"What if a thief gets away with it once and comes back again?"

Before he could finish speaking, he saw that "Catwoman" Selena from the surveillance camera had successfully entered the room.

The alarm immediately went off, especially after "Catwoman" smashed the glass cabinet and took out the painting inside. Countless black gun barrels immediately emerged from the walls on all sides.

"This will teach them a profound lesson," Bruce Wayne said in a low voice.

"That's quite insightful, but according to the plan, I need to go and meet her. What do you say?" Connors asked in front of the owner of Wayne Manor how to proceed with the next step of the plan to steal his treasure.

This scene was somewhat abstract, and even Batman almost couldn't maintain his deliberately lowered voice. He coughed twice in his magnetic voice and then turned away.

This was a matter of pretending not to see—Connors understood perfectly, took the elevator out of the Batcave, and quickly approached the room where "Catwoman" Selena was.

With countless gun barrels pointed at her, Selena held onto the picture frame without moving, fearing that the guns would open fire immediately.

But being in this environment, it would be a lie to say she wasn't nervous. At this moment, the Catwoman's soft hair at her temples was soaked with sweat, and she couldn't help but feel thirsty.

A dry mouth requires water, so Connors walked into the room with a cup of Alfred's hand-ground coffee.

It was stuffed into Catwoman's hand.

"Catwoman" Selena awkwardly took the coffee, still too afraid to move, and then she watched as Connors made a move she couldn't understand.

He pushed all the protruding guns back into the wall.

"Let's go, Bruce Wayne said he's not treating us to dinner today." Connors pushed the protruding guns from the wall back in and said to a bewildered Selena.

Seeing that "Catwoman" seemed to be struggling, he simply walked over, reached out and bent down.

He dragged Selena by her feet with one hand and held her bottom with the other, forcefully throwing her into the ventilation duct.

Her two little feet were about the size of one of Connors' hands, incredibly soft, but her other hand, which was supporting "Catwoman's" buttocks, sank right in, as if boneless, exceptionally soft.
