Chapter 494 The Filial Son's Black Mask

Just as the two sides were locked in a standoff, a black portal suddenly appeared, breaking the stalemate. A man calmly stepped out.

"Excuse me, does anyone know where the Flash was taken?" He looked around and asked with a calm smile, as if this were a shopping mall rather than a criminal hideout.

Three more people emerged from the portal, and these three were familiar faces to the Gotham villains.

Harley Quinn, Selena Gomez, and ———

"The Joker?" Bane frowned. "You weren't—no, that's not right, you're not the Joker! Who are you?"

clap clap!

Rune clapped his hands twice, drawing everyone's attention to him. "Everyone, you haven't answered my question yet. I asked, where is the Flash? Are you deaf?"

Such a blunt tone naturally displeased the other villains in Gotham, and even members of the League of Assassins. Among them, the simple-minded Killer Croc reacted most directly—

His vertical pupils suddenly contracted, and his hunched, massive body tensed up abruptly, like a spring compressed to its limit. He then unleashed a speed completely disproportionate to his size. This terrifying, savage behemoth crushed everything in its path like a tank, and his charge was extremely oppressive.

Catwoman had never seen Rune fight before, and she didn't know if he could really stop Killer Croc's attack, so she leaned back and gracefully flipped to the side.

She also whispered a reminder, "Be careful."

However, both the clown and Harley had seen Rune in action before and knew his power, so they were still leisurely discussing something.

"I'll choose the guy with the black mask!" Harley made her choice first.

But her choice displeased the clown, who cried, "Hey, you're cheating! He has tons of henchmen around him; it's buy one get many free! That's not fair!"

"Hmm~~ I don't care, I don't care, I'm going to choose him!" Harley started clinging to the clown's arm and acting cute, deliberately glaring at him with her big, watery eyes.

However, the clown already knew how to get her to give up willingly. He pointed to the Poison Ivy woman watching him warily on the other side, "Look, isn't that Little Red? Don't you want to play with her anymore?"

Harley immediately shrieked, "Wow, it really is! It's Little Red from this universe! I choose her, don't try to take her from me!"

The clown's smile widened even more. "Of course!"

At the same time, Killer Croc had already charged in front of Rune. Every time his huge feet slammed into the ground, countless pebbles would fly up. His whole body was like an out-of-control truck, carrying a fishy smell and terrifying kinetic energy.

Just as the killer crocodile's massive body, large enough to smash through a concrete wall, was about to run him over, Rune simply shook his hand, as if shooing away an insignificant mosquito.

Then, Killer Croc found himself in a bottomless, dark swamp, and he plunged into it. The veteran Gotham villain immediately realized something was wrong; a tingling pain was spreading from his toes.

The most terrifying thing was that Killer Croc lost his balance. He was propelled by inertia and fell straight into the swamp. Dark magic instantly covered his lower body.

"Aaaaaaah!!!"

He began to scream in pain and struggled to get back up, but the killer crocodile was horrified to find that tentacles covered with suckers were appearing all around him, constantly clinging to his body and trying to pull him into the swamp.

Rune frowned. "You're so noisy."

As soon as he finished speaking, a tentacle was shoved into his mouth and rapidly expanded, completely filling it and preventing the killer crocodile from screaming.

And it only took a few seconds.

Seeing how easily Killer Croc fared in front of this man, Bane immediately became wary.

"A mage?"

Rune looked at the man who had spoken; the distinctive green Titan poison on his back gave him away. "That's right, I am indeed a mage, and—"

He glanced impatiently at the man in the black mask on the other side, "Could you please stop trying to get into my head?"

Black Mask felt a huge, invisible force slap his head, then his eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the ground.

His real name is Roman Siennis. Born into a wealthy family in Gotham City, he is obsessed with all kinds of masks and was Bruce Wayne's classmate. After murdering his parents, he inherited their vast fortune.

However, due to mismanagement, his company soon faced bankruptcy and was subsequently acquired by Wayne Enterprises. Unsurprisingly, Black Mask did not reflect on his own problems; instead, he blamed his misfortune on Bruce Wayne and vowed revenge.

The filial son then went to the cemetery, dug up his parents' coffins, and used the ebony to carve a black skull mask representing anger, which gave him the ability to control minds.

However, it is clear that this power is no match for a mage. Especially since this mage not only possesses telepathic abilities but has also been given decades of experience using those abilities by a powerful telepath.

To others, Rune knocked Black Mask unconscious with just a glare. This villain's reputation once surpassed that of several of Gotham's most notorious gang leaders, and he had at least twice completely controlled Gotham's underworld.

That's Gotham's underworld! You can imagine the prestige of Black Mask. Yet, this very man lost consciousness with just a glare from Rune—

The scarecrow lurked in the shadows, his breathing quickening. Bain scrutinized Rune, trying to recall every book on mysticism he had ever read—

The one who reacted most strongly to Rune was Poison Ivy. A rare look of surprise flashed across her emerald eyes, which was then replaced by a cold light that was a mixture of disgust, vigilance and strong hostility.

"Dirty energy!"

She was able to keenly sense the powerful corrosive ability of rune's dark magic. In the eyes of this extreme plant protector, anyone who was harmful to plants was a bad person.

And Rune is absolutely wicked!

Then, Harley hugged her. "Hey, Little Red, how are you doing here?"

Poison Ivy sighed, then began to whisper to Harley. Oh well, what could she do? They were such good friends.

The clown was caught off guard by the black mask's sudden collapse; he had been trying to open a crack in the bastard's mask! But—even if the black mask was gone, there were still his henchmen.

"You will pay the price!" Several of Black Mask's core henchmen began to shout in a blustering but cowardly manner, while quickly setting up the unconscious Black Mask and attempting to escape.

"Hey! Where are you going?" The clown suddenly appeared in front of them, smiling, with his hands hidden behind his back.

One of the henchmen paused for a moment when he saw the Joker blocking the way. No one wanted to mess with this madman; even in Gotham, the Joker was far too insane.

"We're all on the same side—" he tried to persuade the other party to let him leave, but the clown simply refused to go.

"Oh, forget about being on the same side, let's play a game first!" The clown's smile grew even more terrifying. "The game is called, 'All Villains Must Die!'"
