Chapter 522: Night Raid.

Leo told Lily that he was going out to do a time attack again but in the city of Angkor and at night. Lily was surprised and Leo continued telling her that it was because of the game being launched tonight for the world to play. Lily got excited and she said, "Can we have that thing set up in the house here? I want to play"Leo nodded and said, "I will have June send over a console from my office to home and a team of technicians, you can have them put it on for you."

Lily nodded and replied, "Good."

She had watched the video clip from the last time attack and knew how hard it was to control that car, and how her presence could distract Leo in such a high speed run. He dropped the family at the Cardinal Mansion and as soon as Lily went through the main gate, she got out of the car, inspected the garden and pointed at Alpha as she said, "See, this is not good. This one is dying."

She inspected every plant in the yard and then moved to the mansion door. The moment she crossed the threshold she exclaimed, "Home sweet home!"

Leo smiled at her, this habit of hers was same as his mother. She also used to check on her flowers whenever she came back from outside, and later on the gardener will get scolded because he caused a few of her loved plants to die. Lily was the same, just that her gardener was Alpha.

He helped them get settled in and then he informed Anastasia that he would be going out for the night. The lady nodded, she knew that the house was secure and apart from the humans outside, Leo had turned this place in a fortress and so she slept fine beside the kids. He took a low key car and drove to the location that he had received on his mobile.

He made a quick move in the car, and when he reached the destination he found Elvin standing on the side, he was leaning against the bonnet of a low height muscle car they had gotten from the Eagle Nation. Despite the fact that they despised the arrogance of the Eagle Nation ministry, they liked the cars.

Leo got out of his vehicle and asked, "You got the Star, what do I get?"

Elvin gestured with his chin and said, "There, you get the Sakura nation's Pride, Raptor."

Leo turned to look at the side, and found a black raptor parked on the side. He walked over to the car and asked, "Did you tune it?"

Elvin nodded and said, "They both have the almost same stats now, on paper, the real difference would come down to the driver behind the seat."

Leo didn't even bother to reply to the man he sat down in the black car, and started the engine. The sleek lines and the elegant design of the vehicle made it look like it was a snake that was ready to attack people. The engine hummed, and Leo smiled, Elvin said, "I know you don't want them loud but purring so we designed a custom assembly for the mufflers."

The young man sighed and said, "Get in, the media is already covering this and we don't have much time on the clock."

That said, Elvin nodded, and went to the car, before he got in and then the two of them revved the engine for a few moments to warm it up, before they slowly drove the cars to the traffic signal on the right. They wore helmets and gloves, but the no driver suit. It was street racing so, they were acting a little free.

As the cars lined up, a robot walked over from the side and stood between the two of them. The two men looked at the robot, it had a countdown flashing on its face. The robot said, "Drivers, Ready!"

It raised its hands, and Leo smiled, the technology they developed was now kicking of their race, it was kind of novel. He nodded to the robot as the latter scanned the drivers, and then he said, "Start your engines!"

The two people revved their engines, and just then the robot dropped its arms and said, "Go."

The two vehicles shot out like bullets leaving behind the screeching noise as the rubber scrapped against the asphalt. Leo saw they had a straight path in front of them and at the end he noticed a barrier that pointed to the left. He was ahead of Elvin by half a car length and he could feel that the car was responding well to his control.

With one hand on the steering and the other on the gear shaft, he drove ahead by half a car length.

Leo knew that the night attack was being watched over by the people of the world, because it was a live stream event and to popularize the release of the game. The people watched as he approached the turn, many of them commented that he would slow down and take the inside line, but Leo did nothing of that sort, he simple, braked, matched the revs shifted down by two gears and then pulled the hand brake. The car spun to the side and then Leo released the hand brake and he pressed the accelerator to the limit while kicking the clutch to shift up and resume the lead.

Elvin in the car behind was not too far ahead, he was also using the same tactics, but he commented, "Damn it, he keeping it this tight right from the get go, seems like I need to get serious as well."

Elvin had the habit of speaking to himself, it was something he developed when he was living in hiding. However, the people liked this about his stream, Leo was a machine that was precise, smooth and ruthless, when he was behind the steering wheel. While Elvin reflected what a human would be like, he would give out honest reactions when he was driving.

So after the first turn the road widened and Elvin pushed into the gap on the left. Leo didn't slow down either, and the two of them gained some more pace. Leo knew that the next turn would be a right hander and then they would enter a circular drift, because the first landmark of the Angkor City has arrived, the fountain of mercy.

The significance of this fountain was directly linked to the goddess of mercy, and it was said that she dug this place as a well for her farms when she walked this world. Leo believed that the truth was something else. The right turn had the same result as the last turn, Leo braked late, he knew that if he lifted even a little, Elvin will jump in and take the lead, but since he was not going to let Elvin win easy, he braked late, but it made his entry in the turn a little wide.

Elvin smiled and then he tried to squeeze inside the gap revealed by Leo to take on the lead, but to his surprise, Leo started the drift and his car angled towards the right closing the gap for Elvin to advance, he was sliding to the left on a left hander, which was just opposite to the rules of drifting.

Elvin turned to look at his friend through the window and saw Leo winking at him with a smirk and he yelled, "Show off!"

Leo flicked the car into a left angle and Elvin climbed up to his door, meaning almost following him very closely, with just a couple of meters between the vehicles as they drifted.

The audience went crazy, they didn't expect these people to have such a high skill. The streaming split in two screens and it showed how the two people operated the car at the same time and at the same pace to finish the drift and exit the roundabout heading for a small straight. They were still side by side, and Leo was still on the advantage. He squeezed Elvin wherever he could and the run continued.

Lily was also watching the whole thing on the Television and said, "They are so ruthless with each other. If they gain an inch they don't want to back down until it is the only option. The cars are facing such strain that they can break down. However, the tuning skills that Uncle Elvin and Baba have are good as well. This is really very exciting, I wonder when I can reach this level."

She was sitting with her mobile before her and talking on live stream. Many people listened to her, they encouraged her to do well and make a name in the racing world, and Lily nodded hard while watching Leo and Elvin screeching through the city.
